The record brings together three powerful musical influences: Afrobeats, dancehall, and Latin pop, resulting in a sound that feels both dynamic and globally in tune. It’s the kind of collaboration that doesn’t just blend genres but connects cultures.

Driven by Rvssian’s energetic production, PONGO rides on a vibrant rhythm that sets the tone from the very first beat. Wizkid slides in with his signature calm, melodic delivery, effortlessly anchoring the track with the smooth style that has defined his global appeal.

Rauw Alejandro, on the other hand, introduces a Latin twist, layering the song with his distinct vocal flair and melodic bounce.

The mix of languages and styles creates a colorful, borderless vibe—one designed for international playlists, dance floors, and festival stages.

More than just a star-studded collaboration, PONGO reflects the growing synergy between African and Latin music scenes. In recent years, this cross-continental exchange has continued to shape global pop sounds, with artists increasingly experimenting beyond traditional boundaries.

For Wizkid, the release further cements his role as a key figure in taking Afrobeats to the world. Known for consistently bridging cultures through music, he once again proves his ability to adapt, collaborate, and create records that resonate far beyond Africa.

With its infectious rhythm and global lineup, PONGO already carries the feel of a potential anthem—one poised to light up charts, clubs, and airwaves across multiple regions.

With Nigeria’s Independence Day around the corner, Spotify has dropped its 2025 list of the most-streamed Afrobeats artists and songs worldwide, and the results reflect just how far the sound has traveled.

Released on September 29, 2025, the rankings mostly highlight familiar names, though they also raise fresh questions about what really counts as “Afrobeats.”

Spotify Unveils 2025 Afrobeats Global Rankings

Burna Boy Still at the Top

Burna Boy might continue to resist the Afrobeats label, but numbers don’t lie. The Grammy winner sits comfortably at No. 1 on Spotify’s global chart of most-streamed Afrobeats artists this year.

Right behind him is Rema, whose non-stop stream of singles and the enduring dominance of his global smash Calm Down keep him in second place.

Wizkid takes third, proving that 2025 has been very much his year. A collaborative streak and a string of chart-topping features have carried him into the top three.

Fourth place belongs to Asake, whose consistency with singles, plus collaborations with Young Jonn and Olamide, have bolstered his already rich catalogue.

The only woman in the mix is Ayra Starr, who seals the top five. The Grammy-nominated star’s Hot Body has been one of Afrobeats’ strongest exports this year.

Most-Streamed Afrobeats Songs of 2025

While the artist list feels expected, the songs’ ranking tells a different story and one that fans may find contentious.

At No. 1 is Santa by Jamaican producer Rvssian featuring Puerto Rican star Rauw Alejandro and Ayra Starr. Though it appears on Ayra’s sophomore album The Year I Turned 21, its sound leans far more toward Latin Pop than Afrobeats.

Second is Shake It To The Max by Ghanaian act Moliy, another track that carries more Dancehall DNA than Afrobeats rhythm.

Afrobeats finally makes a solid claim at No. 3 with Rema’s Calm Down remix featuring Selena Gomez, which continues to do global damage long after its release.

Fourth on the list is We Pray by Coldplay, with Burna Boy, Elyanna, Little Simz, and TINI. Its classification as Afrobeats has raised eyebrows since the track leans heavily into electronic pop rather than the genre’s traditional style.

Rounding out the top five is People by Cameroonian-American singer Libianca. The Afro-R&B anthem still resonates deeply with listeners worldwide.

New Frontiers for Afrobeats in 2025

Spotify also revealed where Afrobeats is gaining new listeners, and the United States leads the charge. From arena shows to award stages, the genre’s popularity in the U.S. is undeniable.

Brazil follows closely, with its cultural links to Yoruba traditions offering fertile ground for Afrobeats to thrive. France comes in third, boosted by frequent collaborations between Nigerian stars and French heavyweights like Dadju, Tay C, and Tiakola.

The U.K., long a hub for Afrobeats’ international spread, is fourth, while Germany takes fifth as more Europeans tap into the sound.

Nigeria itself ranks sixth, reflecting the rapid growth of Spotify’s user base in the country as more locals engage with Afrobeats directly on the platform.

A Global Sound With a Shifting Identity

While the numbers confirm Afrobeats’ continued global rise, the debate lingers: what truly defines the genre? With tracks leaning into Latin Pop, Dancehall, and electronic influences cutting, Spotify’s list shows just how fluid the label has become in 2025.

As African music continues to enchant global audiences, Spotify Wrapped 2024 unveils the diverse range of genres that people now enjoy all over the world. While Afrobeats and Amapiano often dominate headlines, this year’s Wrapped data sheds light on other emerging sounds that define Africa’s music.

Reimagined histories

Hiplife and Highlife from Ghana, rooted in the country’s rich cultural history, remain highly exported due to their fusion of traditional Highlife melodies with contemporary beats that keep them globally relevant.

Artists like King Paluta, Fameye, and KiDi are leading the way in blending traditional Highlife melodies with modern sounds. Their fresh take on Highlife has helped drive a 54% increase in global streams, a sign of the genre’s appeal to both local and international audiences.

In Kenya, Arbantone is mainly characterized by beats from samples of Kenyan old-school hits. This sound combines elements of Gengetone and old Jamaican riddims, led by a wave of young rappers who bring the raw lyricism of Gengetone. Captivating young audiences, Arbantone is quickly rising on local music charts.

Arbantone grew significantly in 2024, partially thanks to viral dance challenges on social media. Artists like Dyana Cods’ “Set It”, harnessed the genre’s infectious beats and catchy lyrics to connect with her fans. The song became one of the most popular Arbantone tracks in Kenya, securing the number 3 most streamed Arbantone track in Kenya as revealed by the 2024 Spotify Wrapped data.

Embracing experimental sounds

Nigeria’s Alté is becoming more popular abroad, where it’s now the country’s fourth-most exported genre in 2024. Pronounced “uhl-teh,” a shorthand for alternative, you may have heard the experimental mix of Afrobeats, R&B, and hip-hop, with electronic influences on tracks like Soh-Soh by Odeal or Amaarae’s Wanted.

With a lot of artists dropping hit Jamz this 2020, Mp3bullet.ng is looking to go beyond the surface to unveil to you the Top 5 music producers behind major hit songs for 2020.

Top 5 Music Producers Behind 2020 Hit Songs

2020 no doubts have been a great year in the Nigerian music industry with artists being celebrated for dropping hit tracks back to back, however, little is being done to celebrate the brain behind the beat of the hits that we always shake our body too.

The recent battle of hits contest between various music producers on social media help to make the brain behind major hits from way back in terms of beat and music producer known.

[irp]

After pointing out the fact that most music producers are hardly celebrated whenever they produce hit songs as they are not the artist, Mp3bullet.ng has compiled a list of Top 5 music producers behind 2020 hit songs in the Nigerian music scene.

QueBeat – Geng (Mayorkun)

On the Number fifth position on this list is Mayorkun’s 2020 hit, Geng. released in January Geng remains one of the hottest song released in 2020 with a lot of music acts dropping bars and recording cover for the song. While the track trended very much, the brain behind the production was not mentioned to talk little about celebrating. Producing the beat for this great jam is QueBeat, an amazing music producer that has done several productions for various music acts. One of his recent production work was for recently trending Star Boy act Terri.

[irp]

Oscar – Duduke (Simi)

Also on this list is the producer of Simi’s very trending song Duduke. Known to always produce Simi’s songs Oscar who had been the brain behind Simi’s quality release did not disappoint as he made produced another masterpiece in Duduke. Oscar was also the brain behind Simi’s R n B track Tiff. Though Simi usually makes mention of him in her tracks, it might be difficult to unravel that she makes the mention because he produced the hit song.

Kel P – Odogwu ( Burna Boy)

Another producer who deserves to be on this list is Kel P, the producer of Burna Boy’s hit track Odogwu. Kel P is also the producer behind Burna Boy’s award nomination tracks and the African Giant album. One will be quick to pick out Burna Boy as one of the artists who is currently doing great in the music scene and might not even notice Kel P as the brain behind one of Nigeria’s most celebrated artists of the moment.

Another artist worthy to be on this list is Jamaican music producer Rvssianm, though Rema had his name on the tracklist, I bet that majority of Nigerian music lover don’t know the name, not to talk of placing the face. Beamer (bad boy) which remains one of the honest songs produced in 2020 disturbed the music space as at the time of release and is still very much relevant.

Also worthy to be on this list is Magic Sticks, the producer of the sensational track by DJ Neptune ft Mr Eazi and Joeboy Nobody. Released on March 5, Nobody by DJ Neptune rocked the Nigerian music space during the lockdown period with a lot of people doing video covers to the track.
