• Drake Breaks New Billboard Record with ‘Nokia’ as He Continues Historic Run

• Drake surpasses Bieber to set new record for most #1 hits in Digital Song Sales

Canadian superstar Drake has once again made history, securing his place as the male artist with the most No. 1 hits on the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart.

His latest milestone is the track “Nokia” from his collaborative album with fellow Canadian artist PartyNextDoor.

With ‘Nokia‘ claiming the top spot, Drake now boasts 14 No. 1 hits on the chart, surpassing the previous record of 13, which he had shared with pop sensation Justin Bieber.

The award-winning rapper has been in record-breaking form since the release of his latest project. His new album, ‘$ome $exy 4 U,’ debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making it his 14th chart-topping album as a solo act.

This achievement places him in an elite league alongside hip-hop mogul Jay-Z and global pop icon Taylor Swift, who also hold 14 No. 1 albums.

Beyond breaking records, Drake has also been entangled in controversy. His latest project follows his highly publicized rap battle with Kendrick Lamar, which gave rise to the diss track ‘Not Like Us.’ The track became a global sensation but also led to legal disputes.

In a lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), Drake accused the label of failing to prevent the release of a song he claimed contained false and damaging allegations against him. He further alleged that the label manipulated streaming numbers on Spotify using bots to boost the track’s popularity.

Despite the drama, Drake continues to dominate global music sales. According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), he was the highest-selling rapper of 2024 and ranked second overall behind Taylor Swift, who claimed the top spot for the third consecutive year.

Drake’s enduring influence in the industry remains undeniable. This marks the 10th time he has been listed among IFPI’s top 10 global artists and the 10th occasion he has emerged as the highest-selling rapper worldwide.

With his dominance on streaming platforms, chart success, and a steady string of hit records, 2025 will be another eventful year for the Canadian megastar.

We have decided to remember this iconic studio album- (Views) from Drake and a couple of achievements it has bagged over the years!

As stated earlier, On April 29, 2016,  Cash Money Records, Republic Records, and Young Money Entertainment released this studio album as Drake’s fourth studio project.

It houses 20 amazing tracks and features the likes of PartyNextDoor, Pimp C, Dvsn, Wizkid, Kyla, and Rihanna.

Likewise, the album marks Drake’s first full foray into Jamaican dancehall music, while also featuring other genres such as R&B, trap, Afrobeat, UK funky, and pop.

Few months after the release of the album, it became the first album ever to hit 1 billion streams on Apple Music.

On the 26th of September, 2016 it made it to the headlines about this achievement!

According to Billboard, Apple CEO Tim Cook, senior vice president of internet software and services Eddy Cue, and Apple Music’s head of content Larry Jackson met up with the Canadian rapper at the San Jose, Calif., stop of his Summer Sixteen tour to celebrate with him, as it is considered a win for both parties.

Another prominent achievement from the album is the number of Platinum certifications by RIAA it has achieved! As a matter of fact, from the 20 track album, 7 tracks have achieved the Platinum Certifications! They include;

• Grammys Platinum
• One dance
• 9
• U With Me
• With You

• Fell No Ways

Fourthly, Views album has a record of spending 258weeks on the Billboard200!

Lastly, it spent a total 13 non-consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard 200, and also became Drake’s first number-one album on the UK Albums Chart.

Rihanna was celebrating the milestone of being the ‘first black female artist to have an album spend five straight years on the Billboard 200.’

‘Grateful to the most High for putting die hard supporters in my circle,’ Riri – who boasts 330.1M social media followers – wrote of her eighth studio album Anti.

When an Instagram user suggested that The 33-year-old Bajan pop diva should “celebrate” her latest music milestone “by releasing a song!,” Rihanna replied, “I think I should” along with a “soon” emoji.

“Just 1 tho lol,” Rih was quick to clarify — meaning, it doesn’t look like the proper follow-up to ANTI is coming any time soon.

It was the first update the Fenty Beauty CEO has given about her long-delayed ninth studio album, R9, in months.

‘I am always working on music and when I am ready to put it out in the way that I feel fit, it’s gonna come out,’ Rihanna told ET last July.

‘You’re not going to be disappointed when it happens. It’s going to be worth it. I’m not just gonna put it out just because people are waiting. It’s taken this long, I’m gonna make it worth it.’

R9 is rumoured to feature her boyfriend A$AP Rocky, Savage X Fenty model Normani, Pharrell, Diplo, and a dancehall track called Private Loving with reggae artist Demarco.

And one year ago, the singer provided guest vocals on two-time Grammy-nominated rapper PartyNextDoor’s track Believe It.

The Grammy Award-winning singer has been focusing on her cosmetics company, coffee table book, and three-year-old lingerie line worth a reported $1B.

Nominations for the 63rd Grammys were announced on Tuesday night and while some people were happy with the artists selected, others weren’t.

One of the biggest disappointments was the snubbing of The Weeknd by Grammys after he received zero nominations from them despite having one of the biggest chart-topping records this year.

Drake via his Instastory addressed this in a lengthy post;

“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the impactful music and these awards and just accept that what was once the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artist that exist now and the ones that come after. It’s like a relative you keep expecting to fix up but they just can’t change their ways.”

He continued with;

“The other day I said The Weeknd was a lock for either Album or song of the year along with countless other reasonable assumptions and it just never goes that way. This is a great time for somebody to start something new that we can build up over time and pass on to the generation to come.”

He also lamented how artists like Lil Baby, Pop Smoke, Partynextdoor, Popcaan were snubbed from the nomination list.

Maleek Berry who operates in Nigeria and the UK comes through with another impressive cover, the “Loyal” (Freestyle). The Starboy Geng jumps on PartNextDoor and Drake’s 2019 joint, ‘Loyal‘.

This record was a hit in the US, PartyNextDoor and Drake gave music fans that cold jam they were craving for. Though some saw Drake as a weak artiste on it, Maleek Berry hits the studio to recreate the song and brought a different vibe.

PARTYNEXTDOOR and Quavo suffered an unfortunate leak of their remix to “More” with Lil Wayne. While leaks are never ideal, it gave a clear path for the trio to go ahead and drop the official audio via Worldstar’s YouTube page.

PND has been pretty quiet so far this year and while we haven’t heard much new music from him at all, we’re ready whenever he is for some heaters. A little like the one we’ve just received by way of the “More” remix. A welcome sight, his collaboration with Quavo and Murda Beatz from 2016 has just been spiced up a little with the addition of Lil Wayne, who we also would love to hear more of this year.

With Weezy fresh out of his Cash Money contract, the man is free to release a lot more music than in the past. While the time of this recording is unspecified, it’s generally just nice to hear Wayne rhyming as Tha Carter V’s release has been hinted at numerous times. Wayne gets double action here, picking up a couple of verses to spruce up the original. With the official audio now out for the “More” remix, hopefully Party follows it up with a project announcement.

Quotable Lyrics:

So be more alert, do more than twerk
Get more b-tches for daddy
Be more diverse, fuck more than me
And do more to her
I’m more unique when I do more of the percs
No more CMB, and, sure, it hurts
But I’m more complete, wish I knew more at first

PARTYNEXTDOOR collaborations drop untweet song called “I Need More.” Leaked versions of the songs have been floating around on the internet for some time, but have now been given their first official release. The tracks can be downloaded at Memoriesdontdie.com in exchange for an email address.

PARTYNEXTDOOR will not appear on the proper album, which according to the tracklist will feature guest appearances from 50 Cent, NAV, Wiz Khalifa, Fabolous, Paloma Ford, and Future. In an interview with last summer, Tory spoke of the evolution of his sound and writing style from I Told You to Memories Don’t Die.
