The long-running rift within the Okoye family took another dramatic turn as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) revealed that it does not have the evidence needed to back up the fraud allegations levelled against music executive Jude Okoye by his younger brother and singer, Peter Okoye.

What began as a private family feud has now stretched into a full-blown legal battle, with both sides standing firm on their claims. Peter had accused Jude, who once managed the iconic P-Square duo, of diverting funds meant for the group into accounts connected to him.

Following the allegations, Jude spent more than two months in EFCC custody before securing bail as the case moved into court.

But during a hearing at the Lagos State Special Offences Court, Ikeja, on Friday, November 28, 2025, the narrative shifted. EFCC counsel Mohammed Bashir informed the court that the agency had no documents or financial records that could prove Jude siphoned $800,000 from the group’s earnings. According to Bashir, the burden of proof now rests squarely on Peter, as the EFCC cannot tender evidence it does not have.

The case itself traces back to 2024, when Jude and his company, Northside Music Limited, were accused of converting funds paid to P-Square for digital music distribution and publishing.

The EFCC had claimed that $767,544.15, part of a $1 million and £34,000 payment from Lex Records Limited, was diverted in a way that deprived Peter of his rightful share. Jude eventually secured bail on March 6, 2025, with a bond set at ₦50 million.

While the legal drama unfolds in courtrooms, its emotional impact has rippled through the Okoye family. Peter’s twin brother, Paul Okoye, has publicly aligned himself with Jude, going as far as unfollowing Peter on social media. Their once unstoppable musical chemistry has frozen, and the twins have not worked together in years.

Even their homes are not untouched by the tension. Peter’s wife, Lola, has been seen spending time with Paul’s former wife, Anita Okoye, a move that many interpret as a subtle statement amid the family divide.

For now, Peter continues to take the stand, determined to prove his claims. And with each hearing, the once-golden Okoye dynasty finds itself further tangled in a family battle that has moved far beyond music.

Nigerian powerhouse singer Waje has opened up about one of the defining yet bittersweet moments of her career, revealing that she was never paid for her contribution to P-Square’s 2007 hit single, “Do Me.”

Speaking candidly on The Honest Bunch Podcast, the award-winning vocalist, whose full name is Aituaje Iruobe, reflected on her early days in the Nigerian music scene and the hard lessons that came with fame.

“I didn’t earn a dime from P-Square’s Do Me,” she admitted, mixing humour with honesty. “That song opened doors for me, but it also taught me a lot about the business side of music.”

Released as part of P-Square’s classic Game Over album, Do Me dominated airwaves across Africa and became a party staple in the late 2000s.

Waje’s powerful vocals were an unmistakable part of its magic, even though many listeners didn’t realise she was the voice behind the hook.

Recalling those early days, she shared a humorous but telling memory.

“Imagine being in Onitsha market and trying to convince people that’s my voice every time Do Me is played,” she said, laughing. “They’d look at me like, ‘Who are you?’ They didn’t believe me.”

Waje went on to explain why she wasn’t featured in the music video, noting that she didn’t have a passport at the time the visuals were shot abroad, a factor that limited her visibility and public recognition for the song’s success.

While the experience left her feeling overlooked, she described it as a turning point that reshaped her approach to the industry.

“It taught me the importance of structure, contracts, and value,” she said. “Sometimes, your biggest lesson comes wrapped in your biggest break.”

Today, Waje stands tall as one of Nigeria’s most respected vocalists, an artist whose journey from unpaid collaborations to commanding stages worldwide mirrors the resilience of a woman who learned to own her voice, both literally and figuratively.

<img decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-832091" src="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/P-square-1.jpg" alt="P-Square Drama Reloaded? Paul and Peter Unfollow Each Other

The move, which fans noticed on Monday, October 13, 2025, has quickly reignited conversations online about the state of their relationship. Neither Peter nor Paul has addressed the situation publicly, but many fans expressed disappointment, fearing that history might be repeating itself.

This development comes years after the duo’s first major split in 2017, which stemmed from family and management disagreements. Their reunion in 2021 was celebrated across the continent as one of the biggest moments in Afrobeats history. However, reports later emerged that the peace between the brothers began to fade again in 2023.

Adding fuel to the speculation, Peter Okoye had earlier hinted on social media that the era of P-Square might have permanently ended. Responding to a fan who expressed hope for a comeback, he wrote:

“There will be nothing like P-Square forever. There is time for everything.”

He also declared that he is “his own Square,” while referring to his brother Paul and their former manager Jude Okoye as the “new P-Square.”

With the recent unfollowing on Instagram, fans are once again left wondering if the legendary duo behind timeless hits like Do Me, Beautiful Onyinye, and Personally are heading toward yet another breakup or if this is just a temporary storm between two of Africa’s most iconic brothers.

Veteran Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy and one-half of the now-defunct P-Square group, has issued a strong warning to upcoming artists over what he calls a disturbing trend: smoking weed during music video shoots.

Taking to his Instagram Story, the singer expressed frustration in Pidgin English, questioning why so many new acts feel the need to light up before the camera even starts rolling.

He noted that it’s become common to see artists start smoking as soon as they arrive on set, even before the music begins.

“Dear new acts, abeg who tell una say una must dey smoke Igbo every time una dey shoot video? Music never start, una don dey light up,” he wrote.

Rudeboy didn’t stop there. He went on to caution these artists about their appearance and health, urging them to at least eat well if they insist on smoking heavily. “You’re already looking sick,” he warned, highlighting that some are spending big money on weed while struggling to afford basic meals.

“Una dey smoke around 50k and dey battle Indomie of 1k without egg,” he added sarcastically, pointing out the contradiction in their lifestyle.

He dismissed the notion that smoking on camera is a sign of swag or style, advising them to prioritize their well-being over appearances.

In closing, Rudeboy attributed the behavior to the pressures of fame and expectations, concluding with the phrase “Under pressure.”

“Every time una dey shoot visualizer, una go first light igbo. You dey smoke around ₦50K but dey battle Indomie of ₦1K… without egg.
Stop calling it swag, you’re looking sick.” — Rude Boy of Psquare sends warning to upcoming artistes.#NBGafrica pic.twitter.com/87mmfhOdL4

This isn’t the first time Rudeboy has shared blunt advice online. In a separate post from last year, he offered a humorous strategy for dealing with online trolls: listen to their complaints, pretend to help, and then “insult their papa” before blocking them.

Rudeboy’s latest outburst has sparked conversation online, with many echoing his concerns about the rising unhealthy habits among younger acts in the Nigerian music industry.

Nigerian dancehall singer Cynthia Morgan has once again aimed at her former record label boss, Jude Okoye, in a blistering social media post that has reignited their long-standing feud.

The latest round of drama began after Jude, elder brother to music duo Peter and Paul Okoye (P-Square), shared a cryptic message about betrayal, implying he had been let down by people he once supported.

The post quickly drew reactions online, including a sharp retort from his brother Peter Okoye, who dismissed Jude’s claims and insisted he never received any help from him.

But it was Cynthia Morgan’s reaction that sent shockwaves through social media. In a bold and emotional post, the German Juice singer accused Jude of dishonesty, financial exploitation, and evading accountability since their public fallout in 2016, when she exited his Northside Entertainment label.

“Judeengees, all you’ve done since 2016 is talk behind my back. All efforts to see you in person have been to no avail,” she wrote.

“It is no news that I am disappointed in you, and I know you’re disappointed in yourself too… but you see, I know I had to reap my own destruction for sowing in flesh, and you too will reap yours for being an instrument and holding back such earnings through dishonesty. As we all know, God cannot be mocked.”

Cynthia Morgan has long claimed she was unfairly treated during her time with Northside Entertainment, alleging that she lost access to her stage name, social media accounts, and royalties following her split from the label.

Her post has reignited public interest in the controversial fallout, with fans and music insiders once again debating the responsibilities of label executives and the rights of artists.

While Jude Okoye has yet to directly respond to Morgan’s latest accusations, the renewed spotlight has stirred familiar tensions and prompted calls for more transparency and fairness in the Nigerian music industry.

Whether this leads to any reconciliation or further confrontation remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the Cynthia Morgan vs. Jude Okoye saga is far from over.

Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P and formerly one half of the legendary duo P-Square, has openly declared the final curtain on the iconic group.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Mr. P responded to a fan who remarked that P-Square’s reign had passed and wouldn’t return, acknowledging the comment with full agreement.

In a candid reply, Peter made it clear that the era of P-Square is over and he has since carved his own path.

“Exactly! Judeboy & Rudeboy, that’s the new JPsquare. Make una manage them. It’s their time. I dey on my own, dey run my own race. I am my own Square,” he wrote.

The statement not only reaffirmed the group’s disbandment but also highlighted a shift in focus, as Mr. P signaled his continued pursuit of a solo career.

At the same time, he showed support for his twin brother Paul Okoye (Rudeboy) and their elder brother Jude Okoye, humorously referring to them as the new “JPsquare.”

This public affirmation marks a new chapter in Peter Okoye’s journey as an independent artist and signals a full-circle moment for fans of the once-unified P-Square, whose influence shaped the sound of modern Afropop for over a decade.

As Mr. P moves forward as a solo force, he encourages fans to embrace and support the evolving paths of each Okoye brother in the ever-changing Nigerian music scene.

Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, widely known as Mr. P, has issued a direct and scathing response to his elder brother and former P-Square manager, Jude Okoye, following controversial remarks made by Jude on social media.

In a post shared on June 27, 2025, Jude appeared to take jabs at his former signees, including Cynthia Morgan, Mr. P, and others, labeling them ungrateful and blaming their misfortunes on what he described as greed.

He claimed many who left his label fell into financial hardship and have been peddling false narratives to cover their failures. Jude also alleged he had been wrongly accused of money laundering, stating he refused to bow to blackmail or intimidation.

Reacting to the remarks, Peter Okoye didn’t mince words. In a strongly worded Instagram post, the Cool It Down crooner rebuked Jude’s claims, branding him an “Agbaya” a Yoruba term for an older person who behaves immaturely.

He emphasized that respect must be earned through integrity, not forced through seniority or past affiliations.

“Just because you’re older doesn’t mean you deserve respect. Respect is earned, not given,” Peter wrote.
“Calling me broke has always been your wish, even when you made false claims to the EFCC that landed you in prison.”

Peter clarified that Jude’s role in the former P-Square setup was that of a manager—not a benefactor—and stressed that he was dismissed from that role like several others before him.

He also declared that his solo career has proven more rewarding and peaceful than the P-Square era, which was riddled with internal conflicts.

“Let’s set the record straight, you were never shouldering me. You worked as a manager and got sacked,” he added.

The singer hinted at unresolved legal and financial matters between them, suggesting a court case might still be in motion. He further questioned the logic of sharing loyalty and income with those he now considers disloyal.

Mr. P concluded his post with a strong message:

“I’m done being the mature one. From now on, I will treat people exactly how they treat me.”

The latest public spat is another chapter in the long-running rift among the Okoye brothers, whose once-unbreakable bond fueled one of Africa’s most iconic music groups, P-Square.

Their frequent fallouts, both personal and professional, have repeatedly captured public attention since the group’s split.

As fans once again witness the rekindling of tensions, many continue to hope for resolution, but for now, the rift seems far from over.

Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P and one-half of the iconic duo P-Square, has spoken out amid escalating tensions with his brothers Paul Okoye and Jude Okoye, publicly declaring the end of their relationship.

Taking to the social media platform X, Peter shared a series of emotional posts where he confirmed that he has completely severed ties with his brothers, citing deep betrayal and years of internal conflict.

The revelation came after a fan urged him to mend fences with his family, emphasizing the importance of unity. However, Peter’s response was firm and resolute. “We are no longer family at this point,” he wrote. “Family is blood, yes, but true family is loyalty. Don’t let ‘family’ be the reason you suffer in silence. I did that for over 20 years, and it nearly destroyed me.”

He continued, “Love should never manipulate. Loyalty doesn’t deceive. And family should never rob you. If it affects my mental health, then it’s too expensive. #iDisOwnThem.”

We are no longer family at this point! Family is blood related, but the real family is loyalty….
This public fallout comes in the wake of legal drama involving Jude Okoye, whose legal team recently accused Peter of misrepresenting financial and educational records during a probe by Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In response, Peter fired back on social media, accusing the family’s publicist of attempting to smear his reputation. “I am not MayD. I am not Cynthia Morgan. I am PETER OKOYE—THE ROCK of the Okoyes. The truth will come out,” he stated.

In a deeply personal follow-up post, Peter reflected on the death of rapper Mohbad, revealing that the tragedy gave him the strength to stop suffering in silence. “Watching everything surrounding Mohbad’s passing made me vow never to play the bigger person again. Whether you love me or not, I will keep telling my truth.”

The singer’s revelations have sparked widespread conversations across social media, with fans reacting in shock, while others have expressed empathy and concern over the painful split in one of Afrobeats’ most influential families.

On Tuesday, June 4, 2025, Mr. P—real name Peter Okoye—took to Instagram in a strongly worded rant, accusing his twin brother, Paul (Rudeboy), and their elder brother and ex-manager, Jude Okoye, of betrayal, manipulation, and misappropriation of funds.

In venting his frustrations, he referred to artists who had previously clashed with the Okoye family, including Cynthia Morgan and singer May D.

“Exactly what I was talking about: their publicist doing everything for me to look like a liar. I am not MayD or Cynthia Morgan; I am PETER OKOYE, the one and only THE ROCK/OKWUTE of the Okoyes. The truth shall surely prevail. #UnaThiefAbiUnaNoThief #FamilyDoesNotStealFromFamily,” he wrote.

The mention did not sit well with Cynthia Morgan, who had a widely publicized fallout with Jude Okoye while signed to his Northside Entertainment label.

Taking to her Instagram story, the “German Juice” hitmaker responded sharply, implying that Peter had once been complicit in her professional troubles.

“I have a mixed feeling about my name popping up like this. I am not a weak person. Certain family members made it look so… you ©peterpsquare included… until you found out what they were doing to you too. Na me listen to una sha,” she stated.

Morgan’s response has reignited conversation online about her tumultuous career trajectory and past claims of being sidelined and mistreated under the Northside label.

Many social media users are now revisiting her earlier allegations, suggesting her version of events was not far from the truth.

Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P of the iconic music duo P-Square, has responded to recent controversies involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), asserting his right to speak his truth amid what he describes as attempts to discredit him.

The controversy escalated after Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Clement Onwuenwunor, on June 4, 2025, accused the singer of providing misleading information to the EFCC about his educational background and business records. Specifically, the SAN claimed that Peter, who had previously stated he graduated from the University of Abuja, allegedly dropped out during his first year—an assertion that has sparked heated debate on social media.

In a candid response on his social platforms, Mr. P dismissed the allegations, describing them as part of a calculated smear campaign. He expressed his dismay over what he believes are deliberate efforts to tarnish his image, while also reflecting on the public narrative surrounding the late singer Mohbad.

“Exactly what I was talking about: their publicist doing everything to make me look like a liar. I am not MayD or Cynthia Morgan; I am Peter Okoye, the one and only The Rock/Okwute of the Okoyes. The truth shall surely prevail,” he wrote.

Drawing from the lessons of Mohbad’s tragic death and the ensuing controversy, Peter revealed that he no longer intends to stay silent or play the “bigger person.”

“After watching everything about Mohbad’s death and how the whole thing played out to date, I decided I would never play the bigger person nor act as the mature one. So love me or hate me, I will continue speaking my truth.”

The singer’s bold declaration has since triggered a wave of reactions online, with fans, critics, and observers weighing in on the situation.

While some commend his candor, others have urged caution, emphasizing the legal implications of the ongoing EFCC scrutiny.

As the situation unfolds, Peter Okoye remains defiant, insisting that transparency and personal truth will guide his actions moving forward.
