Hip-hop legend and business mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is said to be enduring one of the toughest chapters of his life, following a near-death encounter inside the Metropolitan Detention Center, Brooklyn.

According to multiple reports, the 55-year-old music star narrowly escaped tragedy after allegedly waking up in the middle of the night to find a fellow inmate holding a knife to his throat.

The chilling account was shared by Diddy’s longtime friend, Charlucci Finney, who described the experience as “both horrifying and surreal.” He said, “He woke up with a knife to his throat. I don’t know whether he fought him off or the guards came, but I just know that it happened.”

Finney noted that the attack could easily have ended in disaster. “If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed. It only takes a second to cut someone’s throat. It could have been fatal,” he said grimly.

He further suggested that the incident might have been meant to scare Diddy rather than kill him. “Everything is intimidation. But with Sean, it won’t work. Sean is from Harlem,” Finney remarked, hinting at the rapper’s unshakable toughness.

This revelation adds to growing concerns about Diddy’s safety in custody. His lawyer, Brian Steel, had earlier revealed that prison guards once intercepted another inmate carrying a razor blade, preventing a potential attack.

American rapper Jay-Z has vehemently denied allegations that he raped a 13-year-old girl alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2000. The claims were made in an amended lawsuit against Diddy, with the accuser, identified as “Jane Doe,” alleging the incident occurred during an after-party following the 2000 Video Music Awards.

According to the lawsuit, the accuser claimed she felt disoriented after consuming a drink at the party, wandered into a bedroom, and was assaulted first by Jay-Z and then by Diddy. She alleged that she managed to escape after striking Diddy and fleeing the scene.

In response to the accusations, Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s record label, released a statement on X (formerly Twitter) condemning the claims and criticizing the accuser’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, for what they called a “blackmail attempt.”

The statement read, “My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee. What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No sir, it had the opposite effect! According to CNN, Combs was taken into custody on Monday, September 17, 2024, at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Manhattan. The arrest, carried out by Homeland Security Investigations, occurred at around 8:15 p.m.

Damian Williams, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, confirmed the arrest, stating, “Earlier this evening, federal agents arrested Sean Combs, based on a sealed indictment filed by the SDNY.” However, the details of the arrest remain undisclosed.

Marc Agnifilo, Combs’ attorney, suggested that the charges likely involve racketeering and sex trafficking.

This arrest follows a broader investigation into sex trafficking, which included raids on Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami earlier in the year.

Burna Boy announces release date for “Twice as Tall” album

According to a report by the New York Times, Burna Boy enlisted the American executive producer: Sean Combs, a.k.a. Diddy, who has long guided rappers and singers (most famously the Notorious B.I.G. and Mary J. Blige) toward wider audiences.

Diddy who spoke to the Magazine on why he agreed to be on the album said,

“I’m on record that I like hit records. If they’re not hit records, I don’t like them,” Combs said via FaceTime from Los Angeles.

“A lot of times when an artist wants to be coached or pushed to maybe a greater level, that’s where I’ve come in,” he said. “He, as every artist, he wants his music to be heard by the world. He doesn’t care about crossing over. You know, he’s not trying to get hot. He’s not, like, ‘I want to be a big pop star’ — he’s already a star. He wants his music to be heard, his message, his people.”

It was also revealed that most of the album was recorded during the pandemic, and Burna Boy and Diddy collaborated across an eight-hour time difference via frequent Zoom calls and file transfers.

Diddy brought in musical contributions including drums from Anderson .Paak on of the songs, “Alarm Clock” and additional production from Timbaland on another “Wetin Dey Sup”.

Diddy also makes his presence audible with voice-over intros on some songs, briefly upstaging Burna Boy. But he said that the music was about 80 percent complete, including all of the songwriting before he was brought in to provide “fresh ears” and his sense of detail. The album he added, is “a modern but pure, unapologetic African body of work.”

Diddy also speaking on the importance of the album said. “Through this album, I think it’s important for Africa to be heard. And so it’s bigger than just an album. He’s not just on a musical artist trip. He’s a revolutionary. His conviction is serious.”

“Twice as Tall,” which is revealed to have 15 songs sees Burna Boy takes stock of his accomplishments and his vulnerabilities, and he encourages ambition and perseverance against long odds; he also parties. And he lashes out at racism, exploitation and widespread misconceptions about Africa.

Burna Boy’s Songs: The Love and hatred it has generated

Burna Boy also features Chris Martin of the Popular Music group, Coldplay on a song called “The Monsters You Made.”

Burna Boy also revealed how he writes his song.  “I’ve never picked up a pen and paper and written down a song in my life,” he said. “It all just comes, like someone is standing there and telling me what to say. It’s all according to the spirits. Some of us are put on this earth to do what we do.”

The album which is expected to drop on the 14th of August features the works of his longtime collaborators and producers, LeriqQ, Telz, P2J, JAE5, Rexxie amongst others.

Burna Boy’s “Ye” and other Top Nigerian songs that are dominating the UK

Burna Boy made the announcement on the 5th of August via his social media pages and according to his announcement, the “Twice as Tall” album will be released on the 14th of August 2020.

In the video shared, Burna Boy was seen in what seemed like a video call with American legendary artiste, P.Diddy which already hints a possibility we’re not aware of yet.

The African Giant crooner had earlier a few months back, announced it would be dropping in July but didn’t go ahead with that plan.

He also dropped his first single, “Wonderful” off the forthcoming album a month ago.

During the weekend, American music mogul and businessman, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs hosted celebrities across the world on his Instagram live.

P. Diddy over the weekend hosted a star-studded dance-a-thon on his Instagram live to raise money for healthcare workers.  One of the celebrities he spoke to was Burna Boy.

The artists were all smiles and happy to see each other and they revealed that it was the second time they were meeting, the first being through Swizzbeat‘s face time.

P. Diddy asked Burna Boy how the situation was over in Nigeria and Burna Boy told him that Lagos, in particular, was on lockdown but citizens were yet to receive relief support from the government.
