Official sources have confirmed that four Nigerian artists—Burna Boy, Darkoo, Obongjayar, and Mr Eazi—will be featured on the upcoming F1 The Movie soundtrack, joining a star-studded lineup of international music heavyweights.

Recall, Rema, Omah Lay, and Shallipopi have been featured on the highly anticipated EAFC25 football game soundtrack, which was launched on September 27, 2024.

Their inclusion marks another milestone for Nigerian artists on a global stage, as they join an eclectic lineup of musicians from around the world.

The year’s roster boasts an impressive 114 tracks, further highlighting the international rise of Afrobeats. Fans of both the game and the artists have taken to social media, thrilled at the prospect of hearing their favorite tunes while playing one of the world’s most iconic football games.

Nigerian Afrobeat singer, songwriter, and performer, Bolaji Odojukan, popularly known as BOJ, has announced the release of the deluxe version of his recent studio project ‘Gbagada Express’.

The alternative singer will soon release a deluxe version of his third studio album as a follow-up.

BOJ earlier in 2022 released his third studio album, “BOTM,” after the release of “Magic,” in 2016 and, earlier that year, “BOTM.”

The heavily star-studded album consisted of 16 mellifluous songs and it featured some of the hottest names in the African music scene, talking about Wizkid, Davido, Mr. Eazi, Tiwa Savage, BNXN (Buju), Fireboy DML, Amaarae, Victony, Darkovibes, Kofi Jamar, Prettyboy D-O, Fresh L, Teezee, Enny, Mellissa, Zamir, and Obongjayar.

The musician announced on his social media page on Wednesday, October 17, 2022, that the album would be released in November of that year. He wrote:

Nigerian record producer and musician Osabuohien Osaretin, better known by his stage name Sarz recently shared a free beat and challenged upcoming artists to post freestyle videos to the beat on TikTok in the “Free Sarz” challenge.

He shared this via his Instagram page on Wednesday, the 8th of December 2021.

Sarz has recently been credited with bringing some really brilliant musicians to the forefront, beginning in 2019 when he produced I LUV GIRLS WITH TROBUL, a collaborative effort with Wurld.

Since then, he’s released two more acts in the same spirit, collaborating with Lojay and Obongjayar on the projects LV N ATTN and Sweetness, respectively.

The record producer posted a video on Instagram with a 30-second free beat and encouraged aspiring musicians to send their freestyle videos to TikTok and tag him with the hashtag “Free Sarz.”

He’s been receiving entries since then and putting them on his TikTok page, and they’re all sounding pretty interesting.

Sarz is well-known for his signature sound tag, “REALLLYYY,” which he uses on every song he makes for musicians with whom he has collaborated.

On Sunday, November 7th, 2021, he announced that he would retire the tag on his Twitter page.

The seasoned producer has worked with superstars such as Wizkid and has a long list of hit songs to his credit.

The producer is recognized for his tag “REALLLYYY,” which informs listeners that they are listening to a Sarz-produced banger.

Electronic sounds, glittering keys, and a delectable Afropop knock. Obongjayar’s singing has far less heft than I associate him with and it fits perfectly, he sounds aptly wounded by this woman who jilted him.

“If You Say”

The build-ups on these songs will have you itching to hear what’s about to happen next. These drum patterns, next to these keys, are simply wonderful.

“Don’t tell me the things I want to hear/it’s the things that you do when I’m not there” is an interesting way to frame romantic reciprocity.

“Nobody”

The last song on the project and I’m a bit mad that this is ending in a few minutes.

I think that image should show how terrible of a dancer I am, but more importantly how bewitchingly groovy this is.

Conclusion

On paper, Sarz and Obongjayar operate on two different musical planes, but that’s the thrill of these types of collaborative projects where distinct styles collide with purpose and yield great dividends for both artists and listeners.

At only four songs, ‘Sweetness’ makes a definitive statement in its brief and compact run-time.

Sweetness is a short project—perhaps too short—and the payoff will be in its replay value. Daringly crafted and airtight in its execution, it’s the sort of EP that will compel you to hit the repeat all button.
