Having received two nominations for the Metro FM Awards 2023, Nomfundo Moh is overjoyed. The singer tells ZiMoja that she is appreciative and that it means a lot to her.

“This means a lot to me. It boosts my confidence because it means that my music is being recognised and appreciated by the right ears,” Nomfundo tells the publication.

“My team and I put a lot of effort to make my brand work. It means my efforts are being recognised and I just want to keep on pushing so that good things can come my way.”

Nomfundo Moh has responded to those who make fun of her appearance and label her ugly. The singer asked listeners to pay attention to her music rather than her face or body while speaking to ZiMoja.

Nomfundo Moh asserts that she is powerless to alter her appearance or body type.

“I have overcome a lot of challenges, one of them being bullying, social media hate almost broke me,” she says.

“I received a lot of hate from people calling me ugly, some criticising my size and petite body type. People criticise things that I have no control over,” she adds.

“That hits differently compared to something that I have control over. Had they been judging my make-up or hair, then I would understand because I can change a hairstyle or fix the makeup and move on but when I get criticised for something I can’t change, it hurts. That shattered me a lot. I sat down and wrote a song titled Ndabazabantu to encourage myself and to tell people that, being the way I look doesn’t mean I am happy.”

Nom loves how she was formed, but she quickly wants to put on weight.

“I also wish to one day gain some weight and have a bit of a hip. But I can’t control it, and I am happy with the way God made me.”

“I am not here because of my looks or for a beauty competition but to serve a purpose and that is to heal. People must not focus on me but on the music.”

As singer Nomfundo Moh is preparing to release her second album after the enormous success of her debut project, the official tracklist has already been made public and the title of Nomfundo Moh’s second album is Ugcobo.

Big Zulu, Simmy, and a few other musicians were featured on the 14-track CD.

She expressed her gratitude on social media for everyone who helped create the record, which will be published on March 21.

People who see my vision and ambition and people who want to put me on greater heights,” she also added that women should grab opportunities and use their superpowers.

Spotify’s head of music for sub-Saharan Africa, Phiona Okumu as well stated that the music streaming platform is committed to “finding and amplifying the voices of female African creators on the African continent has led us to find exceptional voices like Nomfundo, and the amazing talents before her, such as Ayra Starr, Amaarae and DBN Gogo. It is our hope that other young women creators see this as proof that their talents can and will be recognised and supported.

Nomfundo Moh who celebrated her mother’s birthday yesterday and also shared that they went on a birthday outing together has done a great thing again as she gifted her mother a new house as a birthday gift earlier today.

Taking to Instagram, Nomfundo posted a picture of herself standing in front of the house.

It’s been heard that grace followed the release of Amagama, Nomfundo’s debut Afropop album, in January of this year. She is the second South African artist selected to take part in the platform’s flagship initiative that elevates the voices of gifted African women, joining DBN Gogo.

Nomfundo Moh revealed “Being part of Spotify’s Equal programme actually shows me that my talent, as a woman, is recognised and that there are people who are willing to help me. The artist honoured her mother’s birthday and shared details of their celebration with her family members on social media.
