Nigerian singer-songwriter Emoseh Khamofu, known by her stage name Bloody Civilian, has announced that she will no longer be performing at the 2024 All Points East festival in London due to the tragic loss of a young family member to banditry in northern Nigeria.

The 25-year-old artist, who was scheduled to perform alongside prominent acts like Tems, Lancey Foux, Amaarae, and Nas, decided to withdraw from the event after receiving the heartbreaking news of the death of a close teenage family member. The tragic incident reflects the ongoing crisis of banditry in northern Nigeria, which has claimed many lives and caused widespread suffering.

In a heartfelt message shared on her social media pages on Friday, August 9, 2024, Bloody Civilian expressed her deep sorrow and explained that this devastating loss would affect her ability to perform. She also announced that she would be taking a break from live performances and shows to process her grief, but assured fans that she would return in the future.

Her statement read:

hey friends, im sorry, I have to cancel all points east in London. it’s been a crazy year for me. I dropped my first solo single since my debut. I featured on three top 10 singles.

I got a song on the Bob Marley soundtrack. I signed two of my first ever endorsement deals. All the stuff I’ve been dreaming about since I left Abuja was finally happening. As some of you know, I’m from the North and a lot of my family still live there.

Last month, I lost a teen family member to banditry. I’m sorry to everyone who was looking forward to seeing me at All Points East in London, but due to the most unforeseen of circumstances, I won’t be performing. I tried to just work through it and keep preparing for this UK debut, but honestly, it wouldn’t be fair to you guys, or to myself, to carry on like that.

I always want to be real with you guys and not just ghost. I’m going to be taking a bit of time off from live appearances and shows. But rest assured, I’m working on new music and beats and ideas I can’t wait to share with you all. I look forward to a day where Kaduna and our whole country is a safer place for young people. Love you all & see you soon. Bloody

Nigerian musicians Burna Boy and Ayra Starr made Barack Obama’s annual playlist.

The 44th US President, Barack Obama, has a yearly habit of sharing a list of the tunes he listens to throughout the summer, and over the years, some Afrobeats tracks have made the cut.

Obama revealed his summer playlist for 2023 on July 20th, and Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy’s most recent single, “Sittin’ On Top Of The World,” made the cut.

Burna Boy isn’t the only Nigerian artist on the list; Ayra Starr’s ‘Sability‘ from 2023 is also featured.

They are included on the playlist, which includes both classic and contemporary songs, along with other international superstars Jorja Smith, SZA, J Hus, Drake, Nas, and Rosalia.

The Former US President took to his social media page to reveal the list he wrote: Like I do every year, here are some songs I’ve been listening to this summer — a mix of old and new. Look forward to hearing what I’ve missed.

Lil Wayne believes he should be ranked first on Billboard and Vibe’s lists of the 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time.

Lil Wayne sat down for a live interview on Thursday’s episode of The Zane Lowe Show on Apple Music.

Weezy spoke for an hour about his upcoming album, Tha Carter VI, his new single, “Kant Nobody,” which Swizz Beatz produced, and his career as a whole.

The hip-hop scene has taken notice of one particular tidbit, meanwhile, in which Lil Wayne appears to be upset with his recent placement on the list of the 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time compiled by Billboard and Vibe and released earlier this month.

Although Lil Wayne is ranked among the top 10 rappers on the list, the legendary rapper from New Orleans adamantly stated that he is not satisfied with anything less than being the best rapper of all time.

In fact, Weezy went so far as to claim that even the most accomplished rappers “knew” that the “Right Above It” MC is the greatest in the industry.

“Man, who the hell is before me?” said Lil Wayne when asked about Billboard and Vibe’s list.

“Was the list including ALL hip hop? Like, before and after as well? I can deal with that. I will tell you that I am a motherfucking one. Everybody whose names you named, they also know I’m number one. Go ask ’em. They know what it is.”

Wayne’s belief that he is the supreme G.O.A.T. of the rap game comes after he was placed No. 7 on the list, trailing The Notorious B.I.G., Eminem, Tupac Shakur, Nas, Kendrick Lamar, and Jay Z, who is ranked first.

Lil Wayne is far from the only seasoned rapper that is dissatisfied with Billboard and Vibe’s rankings.

Early in February, only one day after the list was out, Ja Rule responded in a way that was consistent with someone who takes their profession seriously, especially in light of the fact that Ja was actually excluded from the rankings entirely.

“There ain’t 50 rappers dead, alive or waiting to be born better than me,” tweeted Ja Rule on Feb. 9. “@billboard congrats to everyone on the list well deserved but check my resume… #ICONN #Vibes.”

American artist Curtis James Jackson III, known professionally as 50 Cent, believes Future is currently a more prominent artist than Jay Z.

The hip-hop mogul was asked if he agreed that Future is “bigger in the streets” than JAY-Z during his interview with MSNBC’s Ari Melber.

“Future said in the streets he’s bigger than Hov,” Melber said while discussing what makes an artist relevant in hip-hop.

“Yeah, he is, way bigger,” 50 responded before making a case for Future’s catalog. “There’s consistent music from him that didn’t chart that [are] huge records that people love and appreciate that.”

While Future may be big in the streets, 50 stated he has less chart-topping hits. “Future’s gonna have to be No. 1 internally because those records didn’t chart,” he said. “Later in his career, they’re not gonna look at the stats and say, we should pay you this kind of money because of records that were great on the street.”

Melber also asked 50 Cent whether he agreed that JAY-Z, Kendrick Lamar, and Nas were the top 3 rappers. He said: “They’re still good artists, but not of all time.”

He also didn’t agree that JAY-Z would be No. 2 after him. “Probably not. It depends on the time period. To me, how do you not look at the No. 1 selling artist?” he said, suggesting that Eminem should be in the top 3 because he’s “sold like 90 million records.”

The 50 greatest rappers of all time have been announced, and the list includes some of the biggest rappers in the industry.

On February 8, 2023, Billboard and Vibe officially announced the release of an exclusive list of the 50 best rappers ever; the list included some of the most well-known figures in hip-hop from the genre’s earliest days.

The rankings are based on an artist’s body of work and accomplishments, cultural effect and influence, longevity (years on stage), lyrics (storytelling prowess), and flow (vocal prowess).

Some of the names on the list are expected, while others may be up for debate.

This list should come as no surprise considering how successful these musicians have been, with several still topping the charts today.

Billboard and Vibe have collaborated to release a list of the greatest rappers of all time, and the list is topped by multi-award-winning rapper and entrepreneur Jay Z.

The list was made and released in recognition of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.

On Wednesday, 8th February 2023, Billboard and Vibe released the list of the greatest rappers of all time.

The iconic rapper and 27-time Grammy winner Shawn Carter AKA Jay Z, whose brilliant career has spanned over three decades, is ranked as the greatest.

Kanye West, a sound innovator and generational genius, is ranked 11th, which makes it odd that he didn’t make the top 10.

Nicki Minaj, the highest-ranking female rapper on the list, is ranked No. 10 among the Top 10 Greatest Rappers. The eighth-best-selling rapper of all time is Drake.

Lil Wayne is ranked No. 7 for his effect and success. Notorious B.I.G. and Tu Pac, two well-known rappers and rivals, are No. 6 and No. 4, respectively.

Iconic rapper, Nas has shared the tracklist to the third instalment of his “King Disease” album franchise.

Nas has been on a roll over the last few years. Following the underwhelming release of the Ye-produced Nasir, Nas returned stronger than ever with Hit-Boy.

Due to their excellent connection, the two musicians collaborated on the first two episodes of King’s Disease as well as Magic, the album’s unexpected release in 2021.

King’s Disease III was formally confirmed to be coming by the two musicians in October. They soon revealed what appeared to be the project’s cover art, as well as a teaser using Dracula’s theme music.

As the release date draws near, the two artists shared details for the release of King’s Disease III, which is expected to drop on Friday.

On Wednesday, they revealed the official tracklist for the project, which apparently won’t contain a single feature. However, it seems possible that there might be some surprise features down the line.

The 16-song effort will also include a bonus track titled, “Til My Last Breath.”

Nas and Hit-Boy have had a lot of success with their collaborations. They were nominated for Best Rap Album in 2021 for King’s Disease, and they ultimately defeated Freddie Gibbs, D Smoke, Royce Da 5’9′′, and Jay Electronica to take the award home.

King’s Disease 2, their second release, received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics.

It goes without saying that Nas and Hit-Boy have a successful working relationship. Even after collaborating with some of the best producers in hip-hop, Nas still referred to Hit-Boy as Quincy Jones.

Here is the full list of winners at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards. The show was broadcast Tuesday night, was hosted by Fat Joe and had performances from Lil’ Kim, the Wu-Tang Clan, David Banner, Dead Prez, Remy Ma, Three 6 Mafia, and more on the bill.

Breezy, who has collaborated with a significant number of Afrobeats artists like Wizkid, Davido, Ayo Jay, Rema & Lojay, was nominated in the “International Artiste Of The Year” category, a new voting award category for a non-African artist or group with the most remarkable success and effect on Afrobeats.

The singer, who was nominated alongside international stars like Beyonce, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, and Nas, was declared the winner on Sunday night.

After winning, the singer took to his Instagram page on Monday, September 5th 2022, to appreciate the headies for the recognition.

Vector claimed in his submission that M.I new name, The Guy, won’t work for him as fans will forever stick to knowing and addressing him as MI.
