<figure id="attachment_729189" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-729189" style="width: 550px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Phy-The-most-underrated-Kenyan-artist..jpeg"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="size-large wp-image-729189" src="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Phy-The-most-underrated-Kenyan-artist.-550x367.jpeg" alt="Phy: The most underrated Kenyan artist." width="550" height="367" srcset="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Phy-The-most-underrated-Kenyan-artist.-550x367.jpeg 550w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Phy-The-most-underrated-Kenyan-artist.-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Phy-The-most-underrated-Kenyan-artist.-150x100.jpeg 150w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Phy-The-most-underrated-Kenyan-artist..jpeg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-729189" class="wp-caption-text">Phy: The most underrated Kenyan artist.</figcaption></figure>
<p>Every era has its icon, just as there was Moses during the exodus, there is <strong>Phy</strong> in Kenyan music.</p>
<p>I agree, there has been music evolution music for decades a little taste and style that has changed according to market preference. But good music is still good music and it pains me when it is often ignored and not appreciated as it should be.</p>
<p>Underrated seems kind to what these Kenyan artists are going through. In the Kenyan entertainment industry, it&#8217;s no different. In times like this, I always question if it&#8217;s the management or the fans that are failing the artist. Either way, this <a href="https://www.instagram.com/phyasco/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Phy</strong></a> deserves so much than what we are delivering as a country.</p>
<h3><span class="td_btn td_btn_lg td_round_btn"><strong>Know Mwihaki Ng’etich famous as Phy</strong></span></h3>
<p>Famous in African attire look, you might have spotted this modern queen who loves her heritage dressed in African wear (Kitenge, turbans, and cultural jewelry’s in most of her covers.</p>
<figure id="attachment_729192" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-729192" style="width: 452px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Phy-Kenya.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-729192" src="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Phy-Kenya.jpg" alt="Phy Kenya" width="452" height="400" srcset="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Phy-Kenya.jpg 452w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Phy-Kenya-300x265.jpg 300w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Phy-Kenya-150x133.jpg 150w" sizes="(max-width: 452px) 100vw, 452px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-729192" class="wp-caption-text">Phy</figcaption></figure>
<p>Music is a very competitive industry everyone’s constantly looking for something different, a unique feature you can&#8217;t find in anyone else apart from your singing talent. Phy already has hers.</p>
<p>Phy started getting people&#8217;s attention when she was the second winner in airtel trace and become even more famous when she won Maisha superstar.</p>
<p>Nameless always claimed that only nameless can sing, nameless that was until Phy nailed his song “<strong>Nasinzia</strong>” and he couldn’t be more wrong.</p>
<p><iframe title="PHY - Sinzia [ Cover ]" width="814" height="458" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Pp84xTvgBrQ?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<h3><span class="td_btn td_btn_lg td_round_btn"><strong>Her music journey</strong></span></h3>
<p>Unlike other toddlers who were eating sand and snot by then, Phy became aware of her singing talent when she was as young as three years old.</p>
<p>Her teacher Mr. Frank heard her sing and told her that she has a great voice. We need more teachers like him. If it was in the US she would have been exposed to singing shows like <strong>‘Americas got talent</strong>&#8216; or <strong>‘The voice&#8217;</strong> but this is Africa, you have to work extra hard here.</p>
<p>She later started learning to play the guitar and finally, Sauti music academy and youtube academy saw her talent.</p>
<p>As Kenyans, I think I speak for everyone when I say we miss the flavor of good R&amp;B music like the likes of Marry J Blidge, Brandy, and Kelly Rowland. Phy quenched our thirst five years ago with her song <strong>“Taboo (taabu)</strong>”.</p>
<p><iframe title="PHY - TABOO [TAABU] Official Video" width="814" height="458" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GHLwzpaPSXg?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>If you love good music this is your jam. It has countless covers (that’s when you know you are good).</p>
<p>According to her, she had an unexpected reaction to the song as she had just written it as an assignment in music class. A great composer we have to hear Kenyans.</p>
<p>Her singing is a combination of afro-pop with R&amp;B and HIP HOP; this made her release an extended playlist called philosophy and later released an album called biography in 2018.</p>
<p>She had also attained fame by being in a music film called mission on earth by <strong>Nyando</strong> and this propelled her to be among the speakers of the UN, We are proud of you Phy.</p>

</ul>
<hr />
<h3><span class="td_btn td_btn_lg td_round_btn"><strong>Then what’s wrong?</strong></span></h3>
<p>With that exceptional talent of hers, we expected <strong>Phy</strong> to be on levels where she received lots of international awards or doing collaborations with lots of other famous artists because most of her songs deserve it.</p>
<p>The song “<strong>Ruka</strong>“ where she featured <strong>king kaka</strong> and <strong>Khaligraph Jones</strong> gives everything. The singing skill, playing the guitar, and composing are totally underrated music management or is it the fan base failing her.</p>
<p><iframe title="PHY - RUKA ft. King Kaka &amp; Khaligraph Jones" width="814" height="458" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/1DQ4f6G-aCA?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>There is something broken in the entertainment industry that we urgently need to fix.<br />
I know someday things will turn around and this beautiful talented lady will get the credit she deserves.</p>
<p>If you were lucky enough to attend any of her live performances, literal goosebumps popped out of your skin. Listen to her song ‘<strong>Siwezani</strong>’ and enjoy the pure Kenyan talent.</p>
<p><iframe title="PHY - SIWEZANI (Official Video)" width="814" height="458" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8AeAkv0HSkk?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>

<figure id="attachment_726306" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-726306" style="width: 550px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Kenyan-legendary-artists-we-are-almost-forgetting..jpeg"><img decoding="async" class="size-large wp-image-726306" src="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Kenyan-legendary-artists-we-are-almost-forgetting.-550x367.jpeg" alt="Kenyan legendary artists we are almost forgetting." width="550" height="367" srcset="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Kenyan-legendary-artists-we-are-almost-forgetting.-550x367.jpeg 550w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Kenyan-legendary-artists-we-are-almost-forgetting.-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Kenyan-legendary-artists-we-are-almost-forgetting.-150x100.jpeg 150w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Kenyan-legendary-artists-we-are-almost-forgetting..jpeg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-726306" class="wp-caption-text">Kenyan legendary artists we are almost forgetting.</figcaption></figure>
<p>Wouldn’t the world just be a better place if those are the only wars we ever had were as entertaining?</p>
<p>Kenya was represented by rappers and other singers from different duos, bands, and radio stations all over east Africa who played their songs. (YouTube view was a thing by then). It wasn’t surprising finding more than half of the ten weekly charts were from +254.</p>
<p>I feel like we are forgetting the impact of these legendary musicians and their music on our lives.</p>
<p>The following are the Kenyan old legends who shook the music internationally but are now not rocking in the industry either due to changes in occupations, crazy ongoing competition in the music industry, or requirements the target and requirement for good music.</p>
<p>Not me though, I’d give anything just to listen to these musical legends sing again.</p>
<h3>1. <span class="td_btn td_btn_lg td_round_btn"><strong>NAMELESS</strong></span></h3>
<p>His parents named him David Mathege; this guy made us sing the ‘lyrics’ from his great love song ‘<strong>NASINZIA</strong>’. For those who were schooling during those days.</p>
<figure id="attachment_726297" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-726297" style="width: 484px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/NAMELESS.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-726297" src="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/NAMELESS.jpg" alt="NAMELESS" width="484" height="400" srcset="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/NAMELESS.jpg 484w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/NAMELESS-300x248.jpg 300w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/NAMELESS-150x124.jpg 150w" sizes="(max-width: 484px) 100vw, 484px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-726297" class="wp-caption-text">NAMELESS</figcaption></figure>
<p>If a boy wrote this in the letters with the lyrics as his dedication, you just know he’s the one. That right there is true love. I don’t know what was with the old school songs, they just never get outdated.</p>
<p><iframe title="NameLess - Nasinzia Nikikuwaza" width="814" height="611" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/g0b9DgFfnMY?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<h3>2. <span class="td_btn td_btn_lg td_round_btn">JUA CALI (Paul Julius Nunda)</span></h3>
<p>First time I heard his name I used direct translation from Kiswahili and thought it meant “ hot sun”. You thought so too didn’t you? Well turns out it&#8217;s not <strong>Jua Cali</strong> is the short form of means to know about California which is the estate he grew up on the east side of Nairobi.</p>
<figure id="attachment_726302" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-726302" style="width: 400px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/JUA-CALI-Paul-Julius-Nunda.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-726302" src="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/JUA-CALI-Paul-Julius-Nunda.jpg" alt="JUA CALI (Paul Julius Nunda)" width="400" height="400" srcset="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/JUA-CALI-Paul-Julius-Nunda.jpg 400w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/JUA-CALI-Paul-Julius-Nunda-300x300.jpg 300w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/JUA-CALI-Paul-Julius-Nunda-150x150.jpg 150w" sizes="(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-726302" class="wp-caption-text">JUA CALI (Paul Julius Nunda)</figcaption></figure>
<p>Either way, the hot sun fitted him perfectly on how his music and appearance were both on fire. Growing up in the city it wasn’t as hard for him to become successful.</p>
<p>One of the songs that still puts me to sleep is <strong>KWAHERI</strong> meaning “<strong>goodbye</strong>” which he sang with the artist <strong>Sana</strong>.</p>
<p>In the year 2000 his fame multiplied when he and the music produce Clemo, together with Nonini opened a music studio with the name Calif records.</p>
<p>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1i2jetdwgI</p>
<h3>3. <span class="td_btn td_btn_lg td_round_btn">NONINI</span></h3>
<p>Hurbert Mbuku Nakitare famous as <strong>Nonini</strong> is a very handsome humble guy with an impeccable voice.</p>
<figure id="attachment_726303" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-726303" style="width: 400px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/NONINI.jpeg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-726303" src="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/NONINI.jpeg" alt="NONINI" width="400" height="400" srcset="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/NONINI.jpeg 400w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/NONINI-300x300.jpeg 300w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/NONINI-150x150.jpeg 150w" sizes="(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-726303" class="wp-caption-text">NONINI</figcaption></figure>
<p>As an artist and a radio presenter, he was one of the founders of Genge music with his friend Jua Cali (mentioned above).</p>
<p>Hits like <strong>KADHAA</strong> can never be forgotten by us. Earlier this year, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonini" target="_blank" rel="noopener">he</a> released a song called <strong>LEVELS</strong> which is great but it doesn’t hit the same.</p>
<p><iframe title="Kadhaa - Nonini" width="814" height="611" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/NhnVJthtOiM?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>

<hr />
<h3>4. <span class="td_btn td_btn_lg td_round_btn">LONGOMBAZ.</span></h3>
<p>This duo comprised of two brothers Christian and Lovy Longomba. Yes, they are related to the Congolese singer <strong>Awilo Longomba</strong> and ever their grandfather was a member of a Jazz Band called <strong>TPOK</strong>.</p>
<figure id="attachment_726304" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-726304" style="width: 524px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Longombas-Kenyan-legendary-artists-we-are-almost-forgetting..png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-726304" src="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Longombas-Kenyan-legendary-artists-we-are-almost-forgetting..png" alt="Longombas - Kenyan legendary artists we are almost forgetting." width="524" height="350" srcset="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Longombas-Kenyan-legendary-artists-we-are-almost-forgetting..png 524w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Longombas-Kenyan-legendary-artists-we-are-almost-forgetting.-300x200.png 300w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Longombas-Kenyan-legendary-artists-we-are-almost-forgetting.-150x100.png 150w" sizes="(max-width: 524px) 100vw, 524px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-726304" class="wp-caption-text">Longombas</figcaption></figure>
<p>I guess music just runs in their blood. Songs like <strong>VUTA PUMZI</strong> and QUEEN are still on my mind.</p>
<p>The brothers suddenly relocated to the us where they practiced their music. <strong>Christian Longomba</strong> passed on 3rd March this year and <strong>Lovy Longomba</strong> has changed his name to <strong>Lovy Elias</strong>. He is now a pastor. I guess even good things such as their music; do come to an end.</p>
<p><iframe title="Vuta Pumzi by Longombas" width="814" height="611" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/oie2vzfcC1M?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<h3>5. <span class="td_btn td_btn_lg td_round_btn">CECILIA WAIRIMU(AMANI)</span></h3>
<p>This queen was the only artist from Kenya who was in the one 8 projects which involved artists from all over Africa with <strong>Robert Kelly</strong> with the song <strong>“HANDS ACROSS THE WORLD”.</strong></p>
<figure id="attachment_726305" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-726305" style="width: 550px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/CECILIA-WAIRIMUAMANI.jpeg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-large wp-image-726305" src="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/CECILIA-WAIRIMUAMANI-550x356.jpeg" alt="CECILIA WAIRIMU(AMANI)" width="550" height="356" srcset="https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/CECILIA-WAIRIMUAMANI-550x356.jpeg 550w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/CECILIA-WAIRIMUAMANI-300x194.jpeg 300w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/CECILIA-WAIRIMUAMANI-150x97.jpeg 150w, https://mp3bullet.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/CECILIA-WAIRIMUAMANI.jpeg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-726305" class="wp-caption-text">CECILIA WAIRIMU (AMANI)</figcaption></figure>
<p>If that doesn’t speak volumes I don’t know what else does. Oh! Wait I do, her phenomenal song <strong>BAD BOY</strong> Featuring <strong>Nyashiski</strong> or perhaps MISSING MY BABY.</p>
<p>The song <strong>TONIGHT</strong> hits all the right places. Her latest song called <strong>My God</strong> was released in 2018 which made me believe she falling into gospel music but we haven’t heard anything since then. We miss you, Amani!</p>
<p>Why do you think legends are getting forgotten and not as appreciated as they were before?</p>
<p>Is it the current enormous competitive music industry or is it age and change of careers?</p>
