Spotlighting the Hottest Songs from Adekunle Gold “Afro Pop Vol 1” album to put on repeat.

When Adekunle Gold stormed the industry in 2015 with ‘Sade” and his debut album “Gold” in 2016, he was known as the YBNL act with a sound fusion of African Folk Music and Highlife.

Although he found success, Adekunle hungered for more, wanting to diversify into Pop music. Slowly, he made that switch in his second studio album, “About 30” which was met with mixed reactions.

While About 30 was still steeped in Folk and Highlife, Adekunle Gold infused the album with pop music.

He didn’t stop there, as he continued to drop Songs like Young Love,’ ‘Kelegbe Megbe’ and ‘Before You Wake Up” that one would classify as Afropop.

Fast forward to 2020, he dropped his first single of the year, “Something Different” and bam, fans were reintroduced to Adekunle Gold a.k.a AG Baby.

Months later, he released his album “Afro Pop Vol 1,” which is a showcase of his sound vision.

The 10-track project, which differed from previous releases from Adekunle Gold’s stables, exhibits a keen musical grasp and a crazily complex production in sound composure, arrangement, and diverse inspiration.

AG Baby ft Nailah Blackman

This was the second single Adekunle Gold released from the album in 2020 with “Something Different” released as the first. If “Something Different” was the introduction to Adekunle Gold’s evolution, “AG Baby” was the first chapter.

On “Ag Baby“, Adekunle Gold showcases an incredible mastery and evolution of his unique Afropop sound he has been perfecting since the release of his second studio album, ‘About 30.”

Along with the guitar chords and saxophones, Adekunle Gold delivers Africanness plus the mixing of Nailah Blackman’s vocals gives a sweeter taste. This song may be Adekunle Gold’s best hour as an Afro-pop artist in terms of delivery.

On “Pretty Girl” Adekunle Gold gets playful as he appreciates a lovely woman ably supported by Patoranking who drops a sweet hook and verse.

‘Pretty Girl,’ with its Ragga vibe, is the most avant-garde song on the album.

In 2019, Gold decided to serve us this romantic up tempo track, and swept the industry off their feet.
