Tottenham Hotspur have officially triggered the £60 million (€69.6m/\$81.4m) release clause in Morgan Gibbs-White’s contract with Nottingham Forest, paving the way for the England international to join the North London club.

According to The Telegraph, Spurs’ new manager Thomas Frank has long been an admirer of Gibbs-White, and the transfer is now considered “increasingly likely” to be finalized this summer.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that the 25-year-old midfielder is set to undergo a medical within the next 24 hours.

Gibbs-White had also attracted interest from Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola’s side reportedly shifted their focus to other targets, including Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders.

Spurs are currently undergoing a major squad overhaul under Frank’s leadership following a turbulent 2024–25 season that saw them finish 17th in the Premier League, narrowly avoiding relegation.

Despite their domestic struggles, they secured Europa League glory, a feat that wasn’t enough to save former manager Ange Postecoglou from the sack.

So far this summer, Tottenham have made the loan deals of Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel permanent, while also adding Japanese defender Kota Takai to strengthen the backline. The club has also agreed a deal with West Ham to sign Mohammed Kudus, with official confirmation expected soon.

Gibbs-White has blossomed into one of the Premier League’s standout attacking midfielders.

He was instrumental in Nottingham Forest’s seventh-place finish last season, contributing seven goals and eight assists, helping secure European football for the club.

With the deals for both Gibbs-White and Kudus nearing completion, Spurs are setting their sights on a strong comeback in the 2025–26 campaign.

The club has a packed pre-season schedule, including friendlies against Reading, Luton, Arsenal, Newcastle, and Bayern Munich, before clashing with Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup in mid-August.
