According to Vevo’s recent report, highlighting the best-performing music videos and artists globally for 2023, Latino music sensations Karol G, Shakira, and Feid have made a significant impact. Simultaneously, American music icons Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Chris Brown, and Rihanna have also earned a place of distinction on the list.

Karol G stands out as the most-watched artist on Vevo for the third consecutive year, accumulating an impressive 4.7 billion global views in 2023. Following closely, Colombian icon Shakira secures the second position on Vevo’s global chart, boasting 3.2 billion global views in the same year.

The Global Top 5 Artists chart for 2023 is completed by Taylor Swift, who garnered 3 billion global views; The Weeknd, with 2.5 billion global views; and Feid, closing the list with 2.2 billion global views.

This recognition underlines the widespread popularity and commercial success of these artists, emphasizing the global appeal of their music videos, which will continue to dominate the world’s viewing platforms in 2023.

Top music videos of the year

Worldwide, TGQ by Vevo’s Top Artists Karol G and Shakira’s is the most watched music video of 2023, with 880 million global views. Within just the first two weeks of its debut, TQG also garnered 181.9 million global views, making it Vevo’s most watched global premiere of 2023.

With around 644.6 million views worldwide and 97.9 million views in the United States, Miley Cyrus‘ “Flowers” is the second most viewed music video on Vevo.

The Beatles‘ “Now and Then” (6.5 million views in the US), Offset and Cardi B’s “Jealousy” (6.3 million views in the US), Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire” (6.2 million views in the US), and SZA’s “Snooze” (6.1 million views in the US) are some other noteworthy 2023 Vevo debuts in the US.

Take a look at the winners of the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) for 2023, known as the Moon Person trophies.

The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards ceremony took place on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

Taylor Swift led the nominations with an impressive total of eight, including categories such as Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, and Song of the Year for her 2022 hit “Anti-Hero.” Notably, she emerged victorious in all the televised categories for which she was nominated.

Joining Swift as artist of the year nominees were Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Karol G, Minaj, and Shakira. This marked a historic moment as it was the first time since the introduction of this category in 2017 that all the Artist of the Year nominees were women. Shakira was also honoured with the Video Vanguard Award.

Additionally, this year’s awards introduced a new category, Best Afrobeats.

The star-studded evening featured performances by Demi Lovato, Shakira, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B with Megan Thee Stallion, Diddy, Lil Wayne, Doja Cat, Fall Out Boy, and many others.
