The 42nd edition of the annual VMAs took place on September 7, 2025, at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, with legendary rapper LL Cool J steering the star-studded show as host.

Lady Gaga, who led this year’s nominations with 12 nods, dominated the evening, collecting four awards, including the highly coveted Artist of the Year.

The ceremony also shone a spotlight on music icons. Mariah Carey was finally presented with the prestigious Video Vanguard Award, while Busta Rhymes made history as the first recipient of the Rock the Bells Visionary Award. Latin pop legend Ricky Martin was celebrated with the inaugural Latin Icon Award.

In the competitive categories, several standout moments defined the night. Ariana Grande triumphed with Video of the Year and Best Pop for her hit “Brighter Days Ahead.” Rosé and Bruno Mars claimed Song of the Year with their collaboration “APT.” Alex Warren’s rise was recognized as he earned Best New Artist. Before the main event, viewers can tune in to the one-hour pre-show at 1 AM WAT, hosted by Nessa and Kevan Kenney.

The pre-show will air across multiple networks including MTV, BET, BET Her, Comedy Central, CMT, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, and VH1.

    Nigerian superstar songstress Tiwa Savage and music producer cum artiste Pheelz also thrilled the audience after Usher introduced them to deliver their stunning performances at the festival.

    The annual Global Citizen Festival aims to unite global citizens, artists, and world leaders to “Take Action” on a plan that focuses on empowering girls, children, and women, protecting the environment, and bringing about change.

    This year’s Global Citizen Festival took place on Saturday, September 24, at the 20,000-capacity Black Star Square in Accra, Ghana. The country’s president, Nana Akufo-Ado, opened the show with a welcome speech. He cheered his citizens to stay on the path of patriotism and support causes that seek to sustain the future.

    Oxlade, a Nigerian new-age music sensation, has signed a deal with Epic Records, an American record label owned by Sony Entertainment.

    The talented singer ends his run as an independent artist with the American A-list record label, Epic Records.

    The record company confirmed the news via a Twitter post on their page, which included a brief video introducing Oxlade and hinting at a new track on the way.

    On March 9th, the video was released, and Oxlade was also welcomed by Columbia Records, an American record company owned by Sony Music and a subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America.

    Epic Records, which was formed by Columbia Records, is home to international superstars such as Travis Scott, Camila Cabello, 21 Savage, Future, Mariah Carey, Bobby Shmurda, and many others.

    Oxlade’s forthcoming single under Epic Records “Want You” is set to be released on the 18th of March.

    This good news is coming weeks after the singer’s s*x tape was leaked online and went viral forcing him to take an impromptu social media break.

    He later broke his silence on the case, apologizing to the lady in the video for putting her through a lot.

    The afrobeat star, who has Yoruba, Igbo, and Brazilian origins, loves to experiment with diverse sounds and cultures in order to find inspiration for his compositions.

    In an interview with Adesope Olajide, the musical instrumentalist talked about his music, his visions, as well as his personal life.

    Speaking on the podcast tagged “Afrobeats Podcast,” the singer revealed how he got to feature Buju Banton on his last project, on a song titled ‘Hurricane’.

    The Sun Over the weekend reported that Mariah Carey left Jay Z’s entertainment company Roc Nation after the pair “had an explosive meeting” regarding the future of her career.

    Reacting to the report, Carey made it clear that there’s no bad blood between herself and JAY-Z.

    “The only ‘explosive’ situation I’d ever ‘get into’ with Hov is a creative tangent, such as our #1 song ‘Heartbreaker’!!” she wrote on Twitter, alongside a clip from the music video for the 1999 track.

    “To the people who make up these lies I say ‘Poof! —Vamoose, sonofa—–‘!”

    According to the PEOPLE, a source revealed confirms the news of Carey leaving Roc Nation, but says the report about her fight with JAY-Z was “completely made up.”

    “The relationship with Roc Nation ended amicably and Mariah and JAY-Z are on great terms. She’s now represented by Range where her former Roc Nation manager is a Managing Partner,” the source tells the PEOPLE.

    JAY-Z and Carey have collaborated on a number of occasions over the years.

    ]]>     Niniola ‘6th Heaven’ is a five (6) track EP that defines Rhythm and Bliss, a core R&B project that has the ability to elicit emotions, relaxation and happiness.

    A little recap of his other projects and notable singles, Niniola released her debut single Ibadi in March 2014, 3 years later she released her debut album in 2017 titled ‘This Is Me’ then a follow-up second studio album in 2020 titled ‘Colours and Sounds’ where she bump to South Africa’s tranquillizing Amapiano sound with Jamaican dancehall and afrobeat.

    Niniola is one of the most successful and acclaimed ‘Queen of Afro-House’, steadily churning out club dominating bangers.

    Niniola voice definitely can do anything she wants to do in music, ‘6th Heaven’ excels in vocal range, basically wanted to express her self and show the other side of her self and answer to a lot of prayers from fans who have been demanding that she gives them a crumb of her R&B singing facet, and use those vocals for ballads

    Also, at a point, I was wowed and had to run back to confirm, I assumed I was listening to a chanteuse like Beyonce, Mariah Carey, or Toni Braxton, she explores the pure R&B genre, incorporating influences from artistic maturity and inclination.

    Lovely tone and great control, I love what she did with this project, gunning for another kind of audience, unlike her usual sound.

    Track 1. The One (intro)

    DJ Rombee produced track is a  mixture of R kelly & Celine Dion infused vibe, the transitions from the beginning of the song strike a heavenly climax, fusing it with a pidgin English to encapsulate the African vibe.

    Track 2. 6th Heaven

    One of the best song on the project by meticulous productions and musical complexity, carefully delivered to bring out the full vibe.

    Track 3. Promise

    Niniola brought her inner self to expressively relay a message through a hard rhythm, it’s not really about the beat but how the vocal could make one feel, emotionally and feeling like missing an island love.

    Track 4. Baby

    This track is very African as she fuses the afrobeat and Rhythm ballads with a catchy chorus to blend the formulated regular street slangs ‘Sharky my head’.

    Track 5. Ryde

    This is a bit explicit in content, imbibing a sensual atmosphere and naughty times with her smooth falsetto, every line is setting the mood romantically and the thought of grinding to the song, definitely a sex-playlist track.
