There has been talk about Spalletti’s future at Napoli for some weeks. Shortly after he delivered the domestic title, reports that he would be departing the club this summer surfaced.

Before leading Napoli to their remarkable success this season, Spalletti took over as head coach in July 2021 and led them to a third-place finish in his inaugural campaign.

This season, Luciano Spalletti’s squad dominated the competition in Italy, losing just one of their first 24 league games while accruing an astounding 65 out of a possible 72 points.

Since the scudetto had already become a matter of when rather than if, Napoli’s commanding lead ensured that a slightly shaky stretch of form since early March has mattered little.

Even though Napoli has lost more points in their past nine league games than they had in the previous 24, it didn’t matter on Thursday night since all they needed was a point against Udinese to mathematically guarantee that Lazio and Juventus couldn’t catch them.

It got off to a frightening start when Sandi Lovric gave Udinese an early lead with only 13 minutes remaining after being held to a stalemate by Salernitana the last time out. Victor Osimhen’s equalizer in the first moments of the second half—his 22nd goal in Serie A this season—brought glory.

Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti has outlined what forward Victor Osimhen needs to do to become an extraordinary player for the Serie A giants.

In his last seven games, Osimhen has contributed one assist and four goals in the top division. On August 15, he scored his first goal of the year in the 5-3 victory over Hellas Verona.

The victory also enabled Napoli to maintain their unbeaten start to the season and move top of the 20-team table with 29 points from 11 matches.

The Partenopei defeated Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma in a Serie A match on Sunday thanks to the 23-year-old Super Eagle’s well-placed goal at Stadio Olimpico.

Osimhen collected a looping pass from the centre of the field, controlled it, and then fired a right-footed shot past Rui Patricio while former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling was sprawled to the ground.

He will look to continue his run when Napoli hosts Rangers in their Uefa Champions League Group A matchday five match on Wednesday at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium before they play Sassuolo in a league game at the same location on Saturday.
