Levi Colwill, after Chelsea’s loss to Manchester United, expressed dissatisfaction and felt that VAR had something against him. “VAR has something against me right now, I don’t know what I’ve done to them,” Colwill said to club media. “Against Brighton, they tried to give a pen, and then when I got pulled [by McTominay] they didn’t give anything. If I had pulled him like that they would have given a penalty. It is what it is.

“It was a frustrating night. We had chances that if we’d taken would have made the game quite different, but it’s part of the game and we’ll move on from it come the weekend against Everton.”

The setback has dropped Chelsea to tenth place in the Premier League, eleven points outside of the top four. While praising the “fair” result of the 2-1 loss, Mauricio Pochettino acknowledged that his squad was clearly second-best. Additionally, he made hints that Chelsea was worn out from playing 45 minutes with 10 men against Brighton the previous weekend.

The Blues have six games remaining before 2024, including a tantalizing Carabao Cup quarterfinal against Newcastle. The next time they play is on Sunday, December 10, when they play Everton.

Bellingham’s achievement comes on the heels of his Kopa Trophy win at the Ballon d’Or awards in October, where he was acknowledged as the best under-21 player globally. Spanish goalkeeper Sanchez was unveiled as Chelsea’s latest summer signing on Saturday in a £25m deal from Brighton.

The 25-year-old has agreed to a seven-year contract in west London after making 23 Premier League appearances for Brighton last season before losing his starting position to Jason Steele.

Mauricio Pochettino was keen to sign a new shot-stopper to provide cover and competition for current No. 1 Arrizabalaga after Chelsea sold Edouard Mendy to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli.

But after his ‘exciting’ transfer to Stamford Bridge, Sanchez wants to take over as Chelsea’s starting goalkeeper and has no intention of warming the bench there.

‘I’m really excited,’ he told Chelsea’s official website. ‘It’s an amazing opportunity to work with a coach of that level.

‘We’ve all seen what he’s done at his previous clubs. I think what he brings to clubs is really good and hopefully I suit his playing style.

‘I want to contribute and help the club win trophies. I know it will be a big challenge but I’m ready for it.

‘The opportunities this club will give me are amazing, to develop more as a goalkeeper, to keep learning and to compete for the No. 1 spot and show everyone how good I can be.’

Since Sanchez played with Colwill and fellow Blues defender Marc Cucurella at Brighton, he will run into a few old faces at Chelsea.

Colwill, who impressed while on loan at Brighton last season, is anticipated to play a significant role for Chelsea this year, while Cucurella, an ex-Seagulls star, finished a £60 million transfer to West London around this time last year.

‘I spent last season with Levi and we’ve got a really good friendship now,’ Sanchez said. ‘I think the spell at Brighton was really good for him, it got him ready for what he’s going to face at Chelsea.

Chelsea have completed the signing of French centre-back Axel Disasi from Monaco.

Earlier this week, a £38 million deal was reached with Monaco to bring Disasi, who spent last season playing with current Blues defender Benoit Badiashile, to Stamford Bridge.

The agreement is officially finalized, with 25-year-old Disasi signing with Chelsea through a six-year contract.

Chelsea has once again splurged by signing Axel Diasai from Monaco. The defender has been welcomed to Stamford Bridge by co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley and will help Mauricio Pochettino’s defence.

“Axel has showcased his quality over several seasons in France and that has deservedly led to recognition on the international stage,” they told the club’s official website.

Pochettino had an unblemished preseason and will return to Premier League action when Liverpool visits London on August 13th.

According to reports, a six-year new long-term contract between Chelsea and Levi Colwill has been reached.

The England under-21 international flourished under Roberto De Zerbi while on loan at Brighton during the 2022–2023 campaign. The defender was waiting for negotiations with the new Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino before choosing his future, but the Seagulls were eager to recruit Colwill on a permanent basis and prepared a club-record bid.

According to reports, Colwill now feels he will play for the former Tottenham manager at Stamford Bridge and has reached an agreement on a new contract with Chelsea that will last until the late 2020s.

The 20-year-old’s current contract has two years remaining with the possibility of an additional year.

Brighton admitted defeat in their pursuit of Colwill as the west London side stood firm in their ‘not for sale’ stance before interest from Liverpool emerged. The Reds plucked him out as a top target as Colwill revealed his desire to play regularly.

He said in early July: “I’ll speak to my family, speak to everyone I need to and make a decision. I’ve got to play at the end of the day, to hopefully get there and go to the next [England senior] camp.”

Pochettino’s squad is still being streamlined before the transfer window closes but Thiago Silva, Benoit Badiashile and Trevoh Chalobah are among the Argentinian’s alternative options to Colwill. Wesley Fofana has suffered another injury setback and won’t feature in the early months of the 2023/24 season.
