In a self-recorded video, Emmanuel Kofi Botwe, popularly known as Kwaw Kese, a prominent figure in the Ghanaian entertainment scene, humorously advises self-proclaimed dancehall king Shatta Wale to gracefully exit the music industry and explore new avenues.

Kwaw Kese asserts that Shatta Wale’s era has come to a close, urging him to admit it and retire gracefully, while also discouraging unnecessary attacks on fellow industry players.

The renowned “Gyimii” hitmaker points out that in today’s Ghanaian entertainment landscape, prominent names like Stonebwoy, Kuami Eugene, Kidi, Kwesi Arthur, and Black Sherif dominate the conversation when discussing great musicians.

“Now we dey talk about Kwesi Arthur, Kuami Eugene, Kidi among others. They don’t mention your name. Because your time has passed”, he said.

Kwaw Kese questions Shatta Wale’s self-proclaimed status as an unmatched musician, highlighting that many of his songs lack substance, using “Wo maame Tw3” as a prime example of this.

“The stupid songs that you did. That your “Wo maame tw3″ and others you did where did you think you could go with it?”, he added.

“Stonebowy is doing big things with the world. If you claim you be dancehall artist and you are doing kpuu kpaa then you be jon”, he added.

Kwesi Arthur recalls when he was begging for a penny, but God being so good, he is now thriving. Kwesi describes his new song.

Keeping up with the momentum with his release in 2023, Kwesi Arthur pushes a relatable song that narrates his ordeal of struggling for a living.

“Penny” serves as Kwesi Arthur’s second instalment for the year, following the video for his recent anthem, “Pain Interlude.”

Furthermore, Kwesi Arthur has been working on his forthcoming album, which has been hinted at as being available in a few months.

King Ketelby James and Gabiga were credited with the production of the song.

Quotable lyrics

I remember when we begging for penny
Now the pockets obolo, getting heavy
Oh no they can’t contain me
Oh no no they can’t contain me oh oh
I remember when we begging for penny
Now the girlies want make I pop up the cherry
Oh no they can’t contain me…

Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show, the rapper said as a public figure, everyone gets to see everything about your life and also makes people have opinions and judge you. He explained that the situation makes him so uncomfortable.

“Being in the public light, like everyone seeing what you do, everyone trying to judge your moves, yeah I felt that’s a big challenge. Sometimes it gets uncomfortable, but I feel like it comes with the job I do so, I just have to swallow the pill it comes with.”

Kwesi Arthur is easily a poster boy for the new Hip hop generation in the Ghanaian music industry.

In Ghana, you can’t discuss rap without mentioning Kwesi Arthur, he’s been one of the most sought-after rappers in the country since breaking out in 2017 with his smash hit “Grind Day,” with a devoted and unwavering fanbase.

<iframe title="Kwesi Arthur - Grind Day Remix ft.
Fans of Kwesi Arthur have been clamouring for a new record from the BET Award nominee for quite some time.

Kwesi Arthur

Kwesi Arthur is a truth-teller who seeks to entertain and educate, his music will always cause involuntary gyrations of listeners’ valuable body parts, while the lyrics radiate with themes that’ll force one to contemplate what it truly means to become a Black Star that’ll illuminate the path for generations to come.

However, another reason could be the poster boy for the new Hip hop generation is the genuine authenticity of the rapping ability.

Kwesi Arthur

Also, with his BET nomination and growing international exposure, it would be easy for him to switch to English in his lyrics and gain a new public.

Kwesi Arthur, a Ghanaian rapper, has stated that he has no intention of competing with Sarkodie to become the country’s next rap icon.

He claims that there are many more important things he wants to accomplish with his music than focusing on what others want him to do.

He said this on a collaborative Twitter Space between Pulse Ghana and KalyJay, a social media influencer, dubbed #PulsexKalyJaySpace on Tuesday.

His comments were in response to a question that suggested he “could have easily taken over from Sarkodie with regard to rap” in Ghana, if he hadn’t been “lazy.”

He shot that idea down by pointing out that Sarkodie is a pioneer that he admires greatly.

“I’m not {talking about} this takeover from Sarkodie. We have a bigger vision. We are preaching on these songs. The vision is bigger than that. People will say what they want to say. I respect Sarkodie so much. Sarkodie is from my city. He paved the way for some of us to do what we are doing. We are taking this music to the world,” he said on #KalyJaySpace.

Sarkodie recently teamed up with Kwesi Arthur on a single, “Coachella”, which was nominated for this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

In the 2020 edition of the awards scheme, Sarkodie gave Kwesi Arthur a run for his money when the young artiste won the Rapper of the Year category.

According to data from KPMG, the accounting firm that audited the votes, Kwesi Arthur beat Sarkodie with only 3% of the votes.

Kwesi Arthur secured 30% of the votes and Sarkodie secured 27% of the votes.

Kwesi Arthur has been promoting his album, Son of Jacob, which was released last month. In an interview with Pulse, he said he is “thankful” about how it has been received regardless of how long it took for it to be released – three to four years.

The album, which has 15 tracks, has gained a lot of traction since it was released.

When asked the song that has impressed him the most on the album, he noted that although most people are feasting on “Drama”, “Toxic” is also doing “wonders on the low.”
