Kennis Music – Kenny Ogungbe

This popular record was founded by Kehinde Ogungbe alongside his friend, Dayo D1 Adeneye in the 1990s. Kehinde is a DJ, music producer, and music executive.

He’s collaborated with, impacted the careers of, and discovered artists such as The Remedies (launching the solo careers of both Eedris Abdulkareem and Tony Tetuila), Sound Sultan (late), 2Baba (producing his first two solo albums), and Oritse Femi, to name a few.

Chocolate City – Audu Maikori, Yahaya Maikori

HKN Music – Adewale Adeleke (Nigerian record label owners)

HKN Music was founded by Adewale Adeleke (Deekay). He teamed up with his brother, Davido in establishing it into an empire. Adewale is a public figure, philanthropist, and business tycoon.

They built a stable of talented artistes such as Sina Rambo, B. Red, and Orezi before Davido decided to go and establish, DMW.

Five Star Music – Emeka Okonkwo (E Money)

Five Star Music is led by Emeka Okonkwo, the elder brother of Kcee, the label’s most adored singer. Popularly identified as E-Money, Emeka is a music executive and business tycoon.

The record label housed Harrysong, and Skiibii – leading them to fame!

G-Worldwide – Festus Ehimare

This is another top music house, that has produced some of the hottest singers in Nigeria today. Founded by Festus Ehimare in 2007, but started promoting musical talents in 2011 and was reformed in 2013, signing Kiss Daniel as its first recording/performing artist.

Sugarboy, a skilled reggae and RnB phenomenon, was also signed to the label in 2015.

Made Men Music Group (MMMG) – Ubi Franklin

Founded by Ubi Franklin, the manager of the award-winning artiste, ‘Iyanya‘. Iyanya led the group as a crew, and others; Tekno, Emma Nyra, Selebobo and Baci followed.

Nigerian musician, 2face Idibia announced in 2016 that he had changed his stage name. He revealed his new alias, 2baba, on social media.

He went on to say that the name change was not surprising because many people had been calling him “2Baba” for a long time, and that it was only natural for him to change it now that he is a parent “Baba” and a chief (Tafidan Kudandan in Kaduna).

Kizz Daniel

Kiss Daniel, through his manager, stated in May 2018 that he has changed his name to Kizz Daniel.

Formerly known as Kiss Daniel, the singer was embroiled in a court battle with his former company, G Worldwide, over a high-profile contract disagreement.

He then left G Worldwide to launch Flyboy Inc., his own record label.

During the legal battle, his ex-label claimed ownership and copyrighted the name ‘Kiss Daniel,’ prompting the artist to adopt the moniker Kizz Daniel, which swiftly spread on social media.

Cruel Santino

Nigerian Alte star, Cruel Santino has changed his stage name twice. he was first known as Ozzy B, then switched to the name Santi under which he achieved a considerable level of fame. In 2020, he announced a new change of name to Cruel Santino.

He explained that competing copyright issues with ‘one man in Spain’ led to the eventual decision to let his former moniker, ‘Santi’ go.

When Nigerian Rapper, Ladipoe first surfaced on the internet, he used to be known as Poe. After he signed into Mavin Records, his name was changed to Ladipoe which he currently uses to date.

In 2020, Mavin Record Boss, Don Jazzy explained the reason behind this change. According to him, the name change had to happen because of copyrights issues.

‘Officially dropped the alias ‘Sauce Kid’ he tweeted. He has since changed his Twitter handle from @oluwasaucekibaba to @SinzuSMG.

Buju

Buju is the latest artist to join the gang of artists changing their names. First known as Drizzle during his early days, he switched to Buju, which was inspired by Jamaican Dancehall singer, Buju Banton.

However, recently the singer announced a change of name to BNXN which is pronounced ‘Benson‘, his surname.

Nigerian singers and songwriters Tiwatope Savage better known as Tiwa Savage and Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua professionally known as Seyi Shay seem to have settled their differences.

Recall, Tiwa and Seyi were involved in a fight in a Lagos salon that went viral a few months ago. Seyi had approached Tiwa in the salon to exchange pleasantries, which Tiwa did not appreciate.

The mother of one had not forgotten what Seyi and Victoria Kimani had done to her in the past, according to her. Remember, Seyi and Victoria dissed Tiwa Savage in their covers of Kizz Daniel’s hit song “F**k You” in 2019.

Seyi Shay stated in her lyrics, “You know I’m not Savage, I pay my bills.”

Victoria Kimani, for her part, accused Tiwa of prostitution and barred her from appearing in a show.

Why this is not yet a reality is beyond me. Both of them can be considered Nigerian sweethearts. In fact, people have been expecting a Wizkid vs Davido kind of rivalry and while that is yet to happen, we could do with a song from both of them.

This collaboration pick will not be a surprise as people have been literally begging for it. Their obvious rivalry makes the whole thing sweeter. Though they have both being feature together on someone’s else song, for example, Mayorkun’s “Geng Remix”, a song with just the both of them is something to watch out for.

If M.I Abaga and Vector collaboration will be the talk of the town, a Wizkid and Davido collaboration will crash the internet for sure. These two artists ever since their entry to the Music scene have managed to always give people something to watch out for. Youtube recently launched its Music streaming platform and Naira Marley made a surprise appearance at the event.

During a talk show with him, the host asked how he felt to be the most viewed artist on Youtube in Nigeria, he replied that he felt like a mini legend.

In addition, Davido, Burna Boy, Kiss Daniel, Teni, Zlatan, Chris Brown, Olamide, Wizkid, Mercy Chinwo also made the list of most viewed artists on Youtube in Nigeria for the year 2019. Chris Brown is the only foreign artist in the list.

It was also revealed during the launch that 90% of the views of the top 100 most viewed Nigerian based artists came from outside Nigeria. While 70% of views were from outside Africa.

Most viewed artist in 2019 on @YouTube in Nigeria is Naira Marley.

You want something groovy for Val’s? Then Yawa by Mayorkun is the go-to jam. Although one of Mayorkun’s most slept on songs. But you’ll love this.

Probably cause Wizkid is on it, this jam isn’t the normal   Kiss Daniel stuff. It sounds too cool, and lovey. It has them making promises to the girl, and what can be better this season?

Davido – Ekuro

OK, so where did I put this before, when I was saying others. You won’t hear Davido sing like this again, I can bet. Also a very old one, it’s also gold.

You may wanna bang this, and bring back some nostalgic feelings about your 2012 lover. Isn’t that the kind of stuff you’d wanna do this season?

Sean Tizzle – Perfect Gentleman

He’s still got one of the best love songs of all time. “Perfect Gentleman” is the perfect love song you can’t get bored of, ever.

“Let me be your perfect gentleman, let me be the one to always hold you tight…,” sounds like the catch-up punchlines you could drop for your lover. Just put the track on replay, and vibe it!

Fact is, Kiss Daniel is good on collabo’s. So far, he’s been on Harrysong’s “Selense” and Spinall’s “Baba.” The hype built around those two monster singles, made them instant hits. Also, the success of Woju Remix, his only real collabo during his stay at G-Worldwide, shouldn’t be overlooked. Even though, Emperor Geezy and the team overlooked it. The story ended differently.

Whichever way, whether the name Kizz Daniel belongs to them or not, one thing is sure, that guy is here to stay. This new one confirms that, and yeah, it’s just a jam ‘for you.’

“For You” balances as an Afro single, which has that Wizkid type dancehall vibe. That same vibe has been used and re-used by Wizkid on songs like “Come Closer.”

Kizz is the creative type, and the beats he jumps on sometimes leave you wondering what he really is up to. From the intro you’re like, “Is Kizz really gonn’ sing on this?” Not that he’s done anything similar before, but you just know this is a perfect vibe. Nobody could’ve done it better.

Wizkid, as a creative, is also game. Jumps on any beat, drops any type of verse. Can even rap if you want him. Then when those two creatives connect, you know you’re in for an inexplicable vibe. It’s definitely unpredictable ’cause their creativity knows no bounds.

“For You” with it’s many flaws, still perfectly captures that Afro sound we’re tryna push. In a way that makes you pitch Kizz Daniel for the international market. Don’t be surprised when foreign labels come for him. It’s not only a love song, but a song that creates a “sexual” atmosphere. Suitable for cold nights, when we have weather for two. It also holds a sound that can work well at clubs. Infact suitable for strip clubs. Then the lyrics just fuck shit up properly. That means, you can just put this on play during Weddings (yes, even in the church.) Wizkid tried to ‘own’ the song, and he did a neat job, as he vibrates on the beat. Who else noticed his voice has also become very very good?

Overall, Kizz Daniel and Wizkid create a spiritual vibe, on an unusual tune, and deliver a sound that already sounds ‘classic’. It’s not everytime we get a song you can enjoy with your lover, in a cool atmosphere. Especially during this shaku shaku era. Don’t you think these guys deserve some accolades?
