This award is named in honour of the late designer who left an enduring imprint on the world of fashion and culture. Notably, in the previous year, the award’s inaugural recipient was Issa Rae.

“To be a trendsetter, it takes a lot of balls, and excuse my French, you feel me? Thank you, y’all. The reason I can talk like this in front of you is because of Harlem,” Rocky proclaimed during his acceptance speech. Fans recently criticized him for throwing money at Eswatini-born DJ Uncle Waffles whose real name is Lungelihle Zwane on stage during one of her performances in the comments section of an Instagram photo that went viral on Sunday, May 28.

In recent years, Uncle Waffles’ career has taken off. Not only has she been at numerous shows in South Africa, but she has also performed on occasion abroad. She posted about her enthusiasm on social media earlier this year when she revealed that she had been scheduled to perform at Coachella in Palm Springs, California, in the United States.

Since then, she has been spotted mingling with prominent worldwide figures including supermodel Naomi Campbell and R&B artist Ciara. Other prominent Hollywood figures, like former members of Destiny’s Child Beyoncé Knowles Carter and Kelly Rowland, have also noticed her and have expressed their admiration for her songs and performances.

Additionally, according to speculations, the creator of the hit song “Yahyuppiyah” recently worked with Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) to create a unique burger known as the “Uncle Waffles Burger.” It was said that the collaboration was currently ongoing.

In the current video making the rounds on Instagram, the DJ was performing when an unidentified man who appeared to be a fan stood on stage and showered her with cash. Other admirers commented online after watching the video that it all seemed quite awkward. American Grammy-winning singer and actress Kelly Rowland has signed a deal with UTA for all-around worldwide representation.

Rowland has four Grammy Awards and has been a chart-topping singer since Destiny’s Child’s self-titled first album was released in 1998.

She has four solo albums to her record, as well as songs including “Stole,” “Dilemma” with Nelly, “Like This,” and “When Love Takes Over” with David Guetta. Her chart-topping single “Motivation” was named the top R&B song at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards and song of the year at the 2011 Soul Train Music Awards.

The 42-year-old has also built her film and TV résumé over the last two decades. She is set to star in and produce Tyler Perry’s Mea Culpa on Netflix.

I think I was ready following Kelly on Instagram actually and I reposted it and sent her a message telling her, ‘Thank you so much for using my song and everything.’ Two weeks after, she said she wanted to be on the remix of “Bloody Samaritan” and I was shocked she even knew the song. She recorded her verse and sent it to me a week after.

I’ve had other remixes, but that one was just crazy ‘cause she went IN. It’s just the best remix I’ve ever had in my entire life.”

She also used the opportunity to confirm that she and the “Bloody Samaritan” crooner worked on a collaboration.

Recall that in January, Ayra Starr, and Kelly Rowland, has teased fans about a possible collaboration for the remix of the Mavin singer’s hit song, Bloody Samaritan.

The collaboration idea came after Ghanaian-American author, Larry Ossei-Mensah, made the proposal to both singers after posting a video of himself driving with the song playing in the car on his Instagram stories.

Tagging both singers, Mensah wrote, “I need this collab to happen for the culture, please!”

Kelly Rowland reposted the video on her Instagram stories assuring that she was interested in doing the collaboration.

“Just say the words, I’m ready,” she captioned the repost.

The 19 and Dangerous hitmaker also reposted Kelly’s post via her Instagram stories on Sunday.

From Rowland’s post, it seems the collaboration is already a reality.

This won’t be the first Kelly Rowland will be collaborating with an artist from Mavin Label. In 2017, she and Korede Bello collaborated on the remix of Bello’s smash hit song, “Do Like That“.
