Numerous young talents have been signed by the music entrepreneur to both record labels throughout the years.

The dissolution of Mo’hits Record and Don Jazzy’s separation with his former business partner, D’banj, with whom he founded the label, were two of the most important turning points in his career.

Do you recall Kay Switch? He is a former member of the Mo’Hits crew and D’Banj’s younger brother.

Many people might be surprised to learn that Kay Switch did not release even one single when he was signed to the label for approximately eight years. It makes sense that, after leaving Mo’hits, he has referred to Don Jazzy in several of his song lyrics.

Kay Switch alleged that his brother’s former girlfriend did not believe in his musical abilities and hence denied him multiple opportunities to show himself. Even if he does not use any names, a keen listener of Kay Switch’s songs would be able to identify the subject of his lyrics.

D’Banj

Wande Coal

Wande Coal left Mavins Records under what appeared to be contentious circumstances at some point.

Don Jazzy and Wande Coal had a Twitter spat a few months later when Don Jazzy accused Wande of stealing his song “Baby Hello” and disclosed Wande had stolen his intellectual property.

Kayswitch is D’banj’s younger brother, and when the Mo’Hit ship sank due to a feud between D’banj and Don Jazzy, Kayswitch was quick to leave with his older brother, D’banj.

Kayswitch while in Mo’Hits felt like he wasn’t treated like he ought to be and took to music to diss Don Jazzy in a subliminal way. Some of the lines from his song includes:

1. “Won ri mi won ni pe mo sese bere, Bon se foju dimi mi o sese bere” – Saying Don Jazzy saw him and said he just started his music career when he joined Mohit in 2004, and the music producer looked down on him.

2. “Won ri mi won ni pe mo sese bere, se obo ni mi abi mo je ogede” – Saying Don Jazzy saw him and said he just started his music career when he joined mohit in 2004, Kay Switch replied saying “Does he look like a monkey or was he found eating banana”.

3. “I Can Give You This, I can give you that” – Don Jazzy promises he can give him this and he can give him that but he didn’t get anything from Don Jazzy!

4. “Emi Ni Dapo, Awon Angel Michael, Awon Tokunbo, Emi Ni Dolapo” – Direct translation “I am Dapo and they are Angel Michael, They are from abroad and i am mixed with wealth. – Kay Switch declares loyalty to his brother D’banj whose first name is Dapo and Don Jazzy whose first name is Michael Claims he can provide it all, he is Angel Michael. Tokunbo means used product from abroad while he (Kay Switch) is Dolapo – A child mixed with Wealth.

Kay Switch was not treated properly while with Mo’Hit, according to sources close to him, and he was never on Don Jazzy’s list of artists to focus on for an album release since joining them in 2004. However, aside from features, Kay Switch does not have an official single under Mo’Hit.

Nigerian Singer, D’banj has shared how his brother, Kayswitch was kidnapped at gunpoint.

The singer made this revelation while speaking during the latest episode of Afrobeats Intelligence, a podcast hosted by Joey Akan, the music journalist.

When asked about his brother, D’banj said the fast-rising singer “has been through a lot” while opening up about his abduction.

D’banj, however, did not provide more details on the abduction.

In his words;

“He (Kayswitch) is wonderful, he’s actually in Abuja. Actually he has a new EP which he is dropping soon. He has been through a lot, but we kept it out of public glare,” he said.

“Recently, he was even kidnapped, I don’t know if it’s right for me to put it out there. But he’s fine, you’ll be hearing from him very soon.”

When Joey asked if he was okay, he answered in the affirmative.

During the show, D’banj reflected on how Kayswitch, born Kehinde Oyebanjo, inspired ‘Face Show’, his latest song.

“My creativity comes so natural. Let me tell you about how I recorded ‘Face Show‘…I was in Abuja before I got the Nigerian Idol gig and my younger brother Kayswitch said one line, and I loved it,” he said.

“He said ‘your face show’. When he sees me doing something, he will repeat the line and I grabbed that…he inspired it (Face Show).”

Recall that Jaywon and his artist, Hardvantage had called out D’banj over the song, claiming that the Koko master made the use of the slang without permission.

Hardvantage who is signed to Jaywon’s Next World Label dropped a song called “Your Face Show” in February.

The song has the lyrics “Your Face Show, Your Shoe Shine” in it.

Surprisingly, D’banj recently released a song titled “Face Show” which also has the same lyrics.

Jaywon at first took to his Instagram story to call D’banj over the infringement revealing that the “Oliver Twist” crooner had tried to get them to remove Hardvantae from streaming platforms but they declined.

Hardvantage also took to Instgram to shed more light on the issue, revealing that D’banj’s management called him in April telling him to remove the song from streaming platforms.

The Hypeman stated that he refused because he and his team has already spent a lot trying to promote the song.
