Opening night saw Sabrina Carpenter set the tone with what she described as “the most ambitious show” of her career, alongside performances from rising acts like Teddy Swims and K-pop group KATSEYE, as well as electronic music veteran Moby. The night was capped off by Italian DJ Anyma, who debuted his new audiovisual project, “ÆDEN.”

Saturday’s schedule brings another wave of star power, with Justin Bieber leading the charge alongside electronic heavyweights like Armin van Buuren, Adam Beyer, and David Guetta. The lineup also includes K-pop star Taemin and British act PinkPantheress, alongside legendary musician David Byrne.

According to Catalan outlet ARA, the deal has been finalized between Barcelona and Spotify, the club’s main sponsor. The move comes after initial talks with pop megastar Taylor Swift—the most-streamed artist of the past decade—were said to have fallen through.

Travis Scott will become the sixth artist to appear on Barça’s kit under the Barcelona x Spotify partnership, which began in 2022 after the club ended its sponsorship with Rakuten. Previous El-Clásico shirt features include Drake, Rosalía, The Rolling Stones, Karol G, and Coldplay.

Burna Boy has proven to be a great and reliable feature on songs, especially on remixes.

Being able to deliver on a remix and overshadow the original isn’t a feat every artist can achieve but for Burna Boy, this has become a norm.

The Grammy artist has a lot of credible successful hits in his bag, and when it comes to collaboration, Burna has proven on several occasions why he is a worthy artist to be picked.

When it comes to making a remix of a song especially if it received great acceptance, it’s often tricky.

The major thing that matters is who jumps on the track and how much of a difference the vocalist will make.

This is also a tricky position that carries a lot of expectation and, if things go wrong, a lot of disappointment.

If the remix doesn’t eventually bang, the unhappy sensation will only last a brief time before the focus shifts back to the original song.

Sticking to the brighter side, where expectations are satisfied and even exceeded, the original song will not only retain its potency but will also become an anthem, while the spicy remix will be useful for achieving the desired effect.

However, Burna Boy is one of the few Nigerian artists whose high rate of success in usual features makes him a great addition to a remix.

Jerusalema (remix)- Master KG, Nomcebo Zikode

In Nigeria, Master KG’s “Skeleton Move” was a popular cross-over song for what Nigerians misinterpreted as “Bode Thomas.” In December 2019, the original ‘Jerusalema‘ was released, although it just featured Nomcebo.

Then, in June 2020, a Burna Boy remix will be released. Apart from how Burna Boy ripped the song to bits with Nigerian slang like “Woro si woro” and Zulu, the song actually took off after this version was released.

By September 2020, ‘Jerusalema‘ had been used in a Cristiano Ronaldo video and had become the world’s most-Shazammed song.

Yaba Buluku(Remix)- DJ Tarico, Nelson Tivane, Preck

The popularity of this song is a testament to Burna Boy’s influence in the Nigerian music Industry.

While the original version of this song was taking off in Mozambique and other South African countries where Amapiano was slowly taking over, it only found popularity in West Africa region after the remix.

This tune incorporates Afrobeats into the Amapiano sounds. Burna Boy infuses the established South African vibe with Yoruba street culture making for a delicious meal.

Temper (Remix)- Skales

Skales was a subject of constant mockery around the year 2015/2016. He needed something to fully signify his arrival on the music scene, especially after signing with Baseline Records.

In the fourth quarter of 2016, he released the Afro-fusion single ‘Temper,’ for which he also filmed a video.

The Krizbeatz production was absolutely exceptional, and it deserved to be defined by someone with a proper Afrobeat background.

Burna Boy, who was also dealing with some extra-musical challenges and poor press at the time, enters the picture. He brought his Fela alter ego fusing it with his signature lyrics, and the music transcended demographics. The remix was a tremendous hit as well.

Hey Boy(Remix)-Sia

In 2020, Sia released the original version of “Hey Boy“, which is from her album, “Music – Songs from and Inspired by the Motion Picture”.

In 2021, she shocked fans when she announced that she would be releasing an alternate version of the song featuring Burna Boy.

Burna Boy brings his magic potion to the Pop fused with elements of dancehall tune, putting doubting Thomas who wasn’t too sure of how a collaboration between him and Sia would sound.

Enjoy Yourself(Remix)-Pop Smoke

Pop Smoke, the American Drill superstar, died at the age of 20, putting a stop to a life and career that was on the verge of stardom.

However, his family and friends have taken efforts to immortalize him, such as the release of his first posthumous album Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon, which featured renowned musicians and buzzing names such as 50 Cent and Roddy Ricch.

Nigerian talents Davido and Burna Boy appear on the deluxe edition, with the latter putting in an amazing shift with his rapping on “Enjoy Yourself,” a mellow bop propelled by Pop and Burna’s baritones.

The original version of “Enjoy Yourself” features Colombian singer Karol G.

Drake, an artiste with 27 trophies, added another for top streaming songs artist, by night’s end. The rapper was honoured as the artist of the decade and brought his son Adonis onstage to celebrate the milestone.

Pink was the recipient of the Icon Award. The “Raise Your Glass” singer is the 10th person to receive the award, joining the ranks of Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Cher. She was joined on stage by her 9-year-old daughter, Willow Sage Hart, for a stunning aerial performance.

Other notable performances of the night included BTS’ debut of their second English-language single, “Butter,” Colombian artist Karol G made her BBMAs performance debut, Doja Cat and SZA opened up the show with their hit song “Kiss Me More,” and the legendary Alicia Keys celebrated the 20th anniversary of her debut album “Songs in A Minor” with a medley performance, after a touching tribute from Michelle Obama.

The Billboard Music Awards are based on the chart period of March 21, 2020, through April 3, 2021.
