Renowned rapper K.O. opens up about the reasons behind artists leaving his record label, Skhanda World. In an interview with Zimoja, Mr. Cashtime attributes the departures of Rooi and Loki to the label’s joint venture with Universal Music Group.

Discover the details of the partnership and the decision to let artists thrive elsewhere. Get the scoop on why the departure occurred and how the dynamics of the business played a role.

“We had gotten into a partnership with Universal Musi Group (UMG) as a joint venture. They were fronting 50% of everything that had to do with the business, and they wanted to see results but unfortunately, some of the music and stuff that came out was not yielding the results that both anticipated,’ he said.

“We felt maybe the artists would do well at another label. We didn’t want to hold anyone back from thriving elsewhere and that is what happened.”

“They were not bringing the investment. So, Just Bheki, MaE, MrX, and Loki, Roiii were the last ones to leave.”

South African rapper K.O recently faced criticism from a Twitter user who accused him of being a thief and a greedy artist. The incident occurred after K.O’s appearance on The Sobering Podcast, where he shared valuable insights into what it takes to succeed in the music industry.

The rapper emphasized the importance of talent, hard work, timing, and luck. However, Tyla Ally, the Twitter user, didn’t agree with K.O’s views and slammed him for not helping others to achieve success in the music industry.

Tyla argued that what worked for K.O might not work for everyone and called on established artists to support and promote upcoming talents instead of exploiting them.

Furious at the accusation, K.O fired back at Tyla, defending his actions and asserting that he has indeed supported other artists with his own money. He revealed that despite investing in several artists, he hasn’t made a profit yet, proving that he’s driven by a selfless desire to uplift others rather than greedy motives.

This clash between K.O and Tyla Ally highlights the complexities of the music industry and the differing opinions on how established artists should support aspiring talents. It sheds light on the challenges faced by artists like K.O, who sacrifice their resources to help others without any guarantee of returns.

“I’ve sacrificed my hard earned money investing in artists and haven’t made it back yet, I hate losing money! Yet here I am doing this shit selflessly to this day! Fact check with the artists around me if I took anything of their sound since you know everything,” the SA star replied.
