Nigerian artist Fireboy DML is set to feature on a new album by American singer and songwriter Justin Timberlake.

The Prince of Pop, Justin Timberlake, will collaborate with Nigerian afrobeat singer Fireboy on a track titled “Liar” for his upcoming sixth studio album, “Everything I Thought It Was.” Scheduled for release on March 15 via RCA Records, this album marks Timberlake’s first release in six years.

Timberlake has already unveiled the official music video for the song “Selfish” from the album, along with sharing teasers and behind-the-scenes footage of the vinyl version’s creation on his social media platforms. The vinyl video, posted on February 26, offers glimpses of the album’s tracklist.

Featuring 18 tracks, “Everything I Thought It Was” will also include collaborations with international acts such as NSYNC and Toby Nwigwe.

American singer-songwriter Taylor Alison Swift is about to fill another blank space on her resume with a career-celebrating prize at the iHeartRadio Music Awards which will be held later this month and will feature performances by Kelly Clarkson, Keith Urban, Pat Benatar, Hugo Long, Cody Johnson, Coldplay, and Pink, who is the winner of this year’s Icon Award.

According to organizers, Swift will receive the Innovator Award on March 27 in honor of her widespread influence on popular culture.

“Along with her artistic success, Taylor’s generosity and philanthropy have inspired millions,” iHeartRadio said in its announcement. “She’s an advocate for women’s rights and the LGBTQ+ community, using her music and platform to inspire young people to use their voting power.”

The 33-year-old Swift is a 13-time winner at the iHeartRadio Music Awards and released her tenth album, “Midnights,” in October. With seven nominations, she is tied for the most at this year’s awards, including artist of the year and song of the year for “Anti-Hero.”

Pink will also get the Icon Award during this month’s gala in recognition of “her effect on pop culture, longevity, and continuous relevance as a touring and radio powerhouse with a passionate fan base worldwide,” according to organizers.

Known for hits such as “Get the Party Started” and “Lady Marmalade,” Pink has released nine albums during a career spanning more than two decades.

During the Los Angeles Dolby Theatre’s award ceremony, Pink will perform with Coldplay, Kelly Clarkson, Keith Urban, and Pat Benatar.

Harry Styles and Lizzo, who equalled Swift for the most nominations with seven each, were two other prominent nominees at the iHeartRadio ceremony. Together with Drake, Beyoncé, The Weekend, Jack Harlow, Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, and Dua Lipa, they are also contenders for artist of the year.

Justin Bieber has reportedly sold his part of the rights to his music to Hipgnosis Songs Capital for $200 million.

The company has now acquired the pop star’s ownership interest in some of the biggest recent hits, including “Baby” and “Sorry.”

Bieber, one of the best-selling artists of the twenty-first century, joins a growing list of performers who have cashed in on their catalogues.

As a result of the decision, Hipgnosis will be compensated each time a song that includes a portion of their music is heard in public.

The company, a $1 billion joint venture between the American financial powerhouse Blackstone and the British Hipgnosis Song Management, now owns the publication rights to Justin Bieber’s 290-song back catalogue.

That includes his writer’s share and any of his music that was released before December 31, 2021.

The agreement also included the purchase of the superstar’s artist rights to his master recordings.

The agreement’s terms have not been made public by Hipgnosis, although a source reportedly informed the AFP news agency that it was worth about $200 million.

Artists are increasingly selling shares of their work to music funds, like Justin Timberlake and Shakira, who have agreements with Hipgnosis.

However, the trend is more prevalent among older artists. Both Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan have sold back catalogue rights to Sony in the past two years.

Springsteen is said to have gotten $500 million (£376 million) for the sale of his life’s work.

The Hipgnosis Songs Fund is building up a catalogue of hit songs – and inviting big institutional investors to share in the proceeds.

It was originally reported in December that a Bieber deal valued at over $200 million was in the works amid founder/chief executive Merck Mercuriadis‘ efforts to “close about $500 million in deals” between mid-November and mid-December.

Justin Bieber will soon complete a $200 million deal to sell his music rights according to reports.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Bieber is negotiating a deal that would value his rights at “about” $200 million with Hipgnosis Songs Capital, a Blackstone-backed investment and music management company.

According to the Journal, the proposed sale includes Justin Bieber’s publishing and recorded music catalogues and would be the largest acquisition for Hipgnosis to date.

Earlier this year, the company paid an estimated $100 million for Justin Timberlake’s song catalogue rights.

Music publishing includes the copyrights for songwriting and composition, such as lyrics and melodies.
