Nigerian Afrobeat singer Waje and other celebrities have reacted on social media to Funke Akindele’s confirmation as the PDP’s deputy gubernatorial candidate ahead of the 2023 governorship elections.

Celebrities have gone to social media to react to popular Nollywood actress Funke Akindele’s formal statement that she would be the PDP’s deputy candidate for governor of Lagos State in the 2023 general elections in the early hours of today, Tuesday, July 12, 2022.

Funke Akindele also shared on her Twitter account that:

Dear Lagosians, I must share my decision to venture into a more significant facet of humanitarian service with you all.Through God’s grace, my 25-year career in the entertainment sector has seen much success and given me the privilege to engage with people from all walks of life.

As a Lagosian born out of Ikorodu, when asked to join Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (JANDOR) as his running mate for next year’s gubernatorial elections– the opportunity to help liberate and improve the welfare of our people could not be ignored.

Samklef‘s statement is coming after Twitter users began to slam celebrities like Naira Marley, Burna Boy, Juliet Ibrahim, Toke Makinwa for broke shaming people on Twitter.

Samklef reacting to what his fellow celebrities did, wrote,

Nobody should criticize anyone begging for money on twitter.. if the system and government was doing what was right None will be hungry and begging.

Recently a war has been brewing on Twitter between celebrities and fans over broke shaming their fans. Juliet Ibrahim is the new scapegoat after she posted derogatory statements about Africans on American Singer, Tory Lanez‘s Instagram live.
