England’s number one goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, has pledged his long-term future to Everton, signing a new four-year contract that will keep him at Goodison Park until at least 2029.

The Premier League club confirmed the news on Thursday, marking another major step in their plans to secure key players ahead of a crucial new era.

Pickford, 31, had two years remaining on his previous deal but has now extended his stay beyond his 35th birthday, a sign of his commitment to helping the Toffees fight for European qualification and end their long-running trophy drought.

Since joining Everton from Sunderland in 2017, Pickford has become one of the club’s most consistent performers, racking up 326 appearances in all competitions.

Speaking to evertontv, Pickford expressed his pride and ambition following the contract extension:

“I’m delighted to get it done – it’s an extra two years, so four years in total. I’m over the moon, and it gives me the opportunity to build a legacy for myself here, move forward, and build this club to where we want to be.”

He added:

Pickford also shared his dream of joining the ranks of Everton’s greatest goalkeepers, including Neville Southall, widely regarded as the club’s finest ever shot-stopper.

With his new deal secured, Pickford will now focus on helping Everton climb back up the Premier League table and, perhaps, finally bring silverware back to Goodison Park.

Aaron Ramsdale has been named Castrol Save of the Month for March for his outstanding save in Arsenal’s 3-2 win against Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium.

On March 4, in what could turn out to be a game that defines his team’s season, Arsenal’s No. 1 was at his very best.

Ramsdale made a spectacular save to stop Dango Ouattara from scoring after his team was caught off guard by a rapid counterattack from Bournemouth. Ramsdale raced across his box to follow a Dominic Solanke cross and got his body in front of Ouattara’s ensuing side-footed attempt.

The Gunners would go on to complete a dramatic comeback, coming from two goals down to earn all three points with a 97th-minute winner from Reiss Nelson.

That win, and subsequent emphatic victories over Fulham and Crystal Palace, has seen Arsenal open up at an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League table heading into the final ten games of the season.

Ramsdale is the third English goalkeeper to win the Castrol Save of the Month award during 2022/23, with Nick Pope and Jordan Pickford both previously winning the award.

Other nominees for the March award included Illan Meslier, Jose Sa, Alphonse Areola, David Raya and Fraser Forster.

Due to his outstanding save in Manchester United’s 3-0 victory over Leicester City, David de Gea has been awarded the Castrol Save of the Month for February.

De Gea won the Carabao Cup with Manchester United in February, and with his 181st clean sheet for the Red Devils, he broke Peter Schmeichel’s record for the most clean sheets in a season.

One of those 181 shutouts was during Man Utd’s convincing 3-0 victory against Leicester on February 19 at Old Trafford.

On that particular day, goals were scored by Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, but De Gea was as significant, making two saves that were deserving of Castrol Save of the Month nominations.

Both of them were exceptional enough to win the Castrol Save of the Month award, with one being a rapid reaction save to halt Harvey Barnes when the striker was clean through on goal.

As Kelechi Iheanacho headed the ball down into the bottom left corner of the goal, David De Gea was able to dive over his goal line and somehow palm the ball out of harm’s way with his right hand. This save earned him the trophy.

Alisson Becker, Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale, and Kepa Arrizabalaga were among the other contenders for the Castrol Save of the Month title for February.

Jordan Pickford has signed a new, long-term contract at Everton, securing his future with the club and ending rumours of interest from other parties.

In accordance with reports, the England starter’s position was being followed by a number of teams looking to replace their goalkeeper in the summer, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham.

Pickford has decided to stay with the Toffees through the summer of 2027 after being impressed with new Everton boss Sean Dyche.

“It’s massive to sign this new contract at such a special club for me,” the goalkeeper told club media. “The support I’ve had from everyone at the club since I joined as a 22-year-old has been so important to my family and me. I’m happy here and so are my family. We love it at Everton.

Hugo Lloris suffers significant injury in blow to Tottenham’s season.

Due to a knee injury, Hugo Lloris may be out of play for the next eight weeks.

The Tottenham captain sustained the problem during their hard-earned 1-0 win at home to Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday.

Spurs‘ struggling season appeared to get a boost from the victory, but this injury has handed them a big blow.

Since Lloris will be sidelined for the next six to eight weeks, he will be unable to play in numerous important matches, including both legs of their matchup with Milan in the UEFA Champions League last 16. They are now one point outside of the top four in the Premier League.

Since being recruited, Pickford has been a dependable component of Gareth Southgate’s squad and has been instrumental in the team’s trips to the 2018 World Cup semifinal and the Euro 2020 final.

Pickford’s position has been threatened by Nick Pope and Aaron Ramsdale, despite the fact that he was one of the few Everton players to escape from the first half of the Premier League season with credit.
