James Ward-Prowse has secured a deadline day loan move to Nottingham Forest, leaving West Ham United after a brief stint.

The 29-year-old midfielder joined West Ham from Southampton last summer but saw limited action under new manager Julen Lopetegui, playing just 16 minutes this season.

His move to Forest is expected to provide him with more playing time after he fell down the pecking order in London.

Ward-Prowse was a key player for West Ham last season, making 37 Premier League appearances and contributing seven goals and seven assists.

Upon joining Forest, Ward-Prowse expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m delighted to be here. When I knew I had the opportunity to join the club and showcase my abilities, I thought it was a fantastic chance. Having played against Nottingham Forest a few times, the atmosphere here is among the best I’ve experienced in the Premier League. To now hopefully experience that week in, week out is something really special.”

Forest will face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday and then travel to Liverpool after the international break, during which Ward-Prowse could make his debut.

The midfielder James Ward-Prowse of Southampton has been officially signed by West Ham United. The set-piece expert joins Edson Alvarez from Ajax as the second summer signing for the Hammers.

The 28-year-old has signed a four-year contract with London Stadium to terminate the connection that began with Southampton in 2003. He joined David Moyes’ team when Southampton was demoted to the Championship.

“I’m buzzing to be here at West Ham United. It’s great to be here and I’m looking forward to getting going,” Ward-Prowse told the club’s official website.

“From the outside looking in, this is a Club that has been on the rise for a number of years now and coming off the success in the UEFA Europa Conference League last year, you can feel there is real momentum around this Club. It’s great to be a part of it and I can’t wait to play my role in the games to come.

“When I think about my game, it is based on hard work, graft, and giving 100%. West Ham United has always been a Club that has epitomises that. You can feel that from the fans and you can see it in the players who are here and the lads that have come through the Academy too.

“I feel as though I will fit straight in and I can promise I will give my all for this football club in my time here.”

Manager David Moyes welcomed the England international and is looking forward to introducing an experienced player with a proven Premier League pedigree to his squad. “I’m delighted to bring a player of James’ quality and experience to West Ham United,” he said.

“He’s performed to a very high level in the Premier League over the last decade, constantly producing good numbers season after season. His leadership qualities are obviously another huge plus for us – he’ll be a big voice for us, someone who drives the team on from the middle of the pitch.

“We’re excited to get him up and running, for what will be another busy season on both the domestic and European front,” Moyes added. Ward-Prowse’s move to West Ham for a fee of £30million is expected to be followed by further signings.

Gianluca Scamacca left West Ham for Atalanta in a £26 million deal, and Ward-Prowse will take his place in the number 7 shirt. Although the transfer fee was not stated, we understand that it was around £30 million.

After selling Declan Rice to Arsenal for a British transfer record of £105 million, the Hammers have been frantically trying to bolster their team.

Things have been slow-moving for West Ham, amid internal conflicts between manager David Moyes and new technical director Tim Steidten, but progress has been made over the past 48 hours on a number of targets.

In preparation for his £34 million transfer from Ajax, Edson Alvarez underwent a medical in London. West Ham also agreed to a £30 million fee for former Manchester United captain Harry Maguire, who is now expected to discuss personal details of a move to the East End.

And sources have revealed to mp3bullet that West Ham and Southampton have reached an agreement on a deal for £30 million for Ward-Prowse with a sell-on clause after extensive negotiations. This comes after United rejected a proposal for Scott McTominay for the same sum.

With Southampton demanding more money for the 28-year-old central midfielder, it had appeared as though West Ham’s offer for him would fail. However, agreements have finally been agreed upon between the two parties ahead of the Premier League season’s opening weekend. If his medical exam goes well, it’s anticipated that he will sign a four-year contract.

Ward-Prowse has been at Southampton for the entirety of his career, making 422 appearances on the south coast and scoring 55 goals.

In that time, he has also given 55 assists, and David Beckham has been compared to him because of his impeccable free-kick accuracy.

In order to improve in the wide attacking areas and with a striker, West Ham hopes to finalize agreements for six players before the summer transfer window shuts.
