Joeboy released his debut extended play Love & Light in November 2019.

It was released by emPawa Africa and was supported by the singles “Baby” and “Beginning”.

While M.I Abaga has earlier released TBDK which features fellow rappers, Erigga and Sinzu, we had to go with the Oxlade-assisted “All My Life” for this list.

Taking to his Instagram on the 27th of July, Vector dropped a picture of himself and in the caption told fans to anticipate his next single.

According to the rapper, the single is titled “License.” However, he didn’t reveal when he would be releasing the song.

In his words;

“ I believe myself that I won’t deny
The sun on my face from a true blue sky
Cloud move about in a few few sighs
Knowing in my heart that I too do cry
When the stress has been stressing
I mean before it was a lesson
But you see my pride is too much oh
To suck the dick of any person “

The next single off the T.E.S.L.I.M album is loading.
We will be launching it with a different energy.

The evolution started in the mid-2010s when rappers started migrating from rapping to singing, making rap seems less important, it comes to a point that almost all our rappers were singing verses instead of rapping like they used to, hence this question Can Rap Music still sell in the Nigerian Music industry?

What is rap? rap or rapping is talking delicately and rhythmically, often with a very multiplex rhythm even without tonal concerns, which implies that it doesn’t necessarily need a particular kind of voice to blend.

We’ll be highlighting why is possible to revive rap music in the Nigerian music industry, gone are the days that everyone embraces and gives attention to rap music if we’re being honest, the focus now is only for the top rap artistes perhaps, no room for the up and coming ones, unlike when everyone had almost same attention prior to talent and hard work.

M.I released an album titled ‘talk about it‘ in 2008, and a hardcore rap song titled ‘Safe’ featuring Djinee was part of the song that gained massive reception on the album, so basically Nigerian was all about rap music then, it was very appreciated.

Olamide came out with ‘Eni Duro‘ it was a hardcore rap song, with no single singing verse on it, yet it was massively accepted, with due accolades and praises.

Phyno did the same thing with his singles such as ‘Parcel‘, ‘Man of the Year (Obago)‘ and ‘Ghost Mode‘ all were hardcore rap songs yet it was widely accepted and appreciated.

However, it is a different case now, as little or no attention being paid to rap music in the Nigerian music industry, the reason for the total abolishing of rap culture is still a mystery, especially in today’s market.

In my opinion, I  still believe rap music can still sell in the Nigerian music industry, it just needs to be well packaged,  it is evident Nigerians prefer melody and groovy vibes now, so mixing it with rap will definitely draw attention and gradually rap can be restored, for example, Vector ‘Early Momo’ feat. GoodGirl LA is currently gaining ground day by day because of the melody infused on it, same as Ladipoe Know You feat. Simi.

Vector hosted Media personalities at a press conference for the forthcoming album, ‘Teslim‘, and during the event spoke on what led to the creation of the album.

He revealed that during the burial of his late father, he made a wordplay using his father’s name ‘Teslim‘ and came up with the acronym, ‘The Energy Still Lives in Me’

He also said the name means ‘Peacemaker’ and given the value his father taught him, he thought to name the album after him.

He said that social media has bred a lot of competitiveness, toxicity, and negativity and the album sorts to inspire people and give them a different perspective on life and to help think peace and happiness.

According to a report by Hiptv, the album is a 13-track album and would feature M.I Abaga, Goodgirl LA, and others.
