Fireboy DML, a Nigerian Afrobeat singer, will be representing Africa on the biggest stage, which is one of the singer’s greatest achievements.

He would perform at the award ceremony on the 27th of June 2022 alongside the following artists:

Lizzo, Joey Bada$$, Latto, Chlöe, Babyface, Ella Mai, Givēon, Kirk Franklin, Muni Long, Maverick City Music, Roddy Ricch, Jack Harlow and Chance The Rapper.

Award-winning artists Wizkid, Justin Bieber, Giveon and Doja Cat have lost the Billboard music award to the talented American R&B super duo Silk Sonic.

Wizkid, the only Nigerian musician nominated for the prestigious award for collaboration as well as his own project, lost a highly competitive category for Top R&B Song to the Grammy award-winning duo Silk Sonic, who had one of the biggest songs of 2021 with ‘Leave The Door Open.’

The Soul Train Awards which honours and celebrates African-American entertainers, will be presented on November 20, 2021, at the Apollo Theatre, and will be hosted by Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell, two top actors and comedians.

Nigerian pair Wizkid and Tems both received five nominations in the nomination list, which was revealed on November 2nd, 2021.

Four of them were for their smash hit “Essence,” which received nominations for Song of the Year, Video of the Year, The Ashford and Simpson Songwriter’s Award, and Best Collaboration.

Then, for his legendary project Made In Lagos, Wizkid was nominated for Album of the Year, while Tems was nominated for Best New Artist.

H.E.R. leads the 2021 Soul Train Award nominations with eight, followed by prominent American singer and performer, Chris Brown, who has six, and Jazmine Sullivan, who also has six.
