The project is a 24-track double album, split into two discs that mirror two defining moments in Cole’s life. Across the runtime, he sounds focused, grounded, and fully aware of the weight of the moment. Standout records like “Two Six,” “Legacy,” “Who TF IZ U,” and “Old Dog” showcase the full range of his pen, confident, vulnerable, nostalgic, and sharp when it needs to be.

Cole handles most of the production alongside longtime collaborator T-Minus, but he also opens the door to an impressive list of contributors. Features and creative input come from Future, Tems, The Alchemist, Erykah Badu, and Burna Boy, adding texture without ever stealing the spotlight. Disc 29 reflects Cole’s return to Fayetteville at age 29, after spending a decade in New York chasing and achieving his dreams. It captures ambition, restlessness, and the tension of success.
Disc 39, on the other hand, revisits that same homecoming from a more mature place.

Here, Cole sounds calmer, wiser, and more at peace, reflecting on legacy, purpose, and the cost of the journey.

This album didn’t come out of nowhere. Cole has been planting the seeds for years, from the “intro to The Fall-Off” on KOD in 2019 to the now-iconic career roadmap image that laid out his path: the 2019 feature run, Revenge of the Dreamers III, The Off-Season, It’s A Boy, and finally, The Fall-Off.

Nigerian music executive Muyiwa Awoniyi, popularly known as Donawon, who manages Award-winning singer Tems, revealed the fascinating journey behind her collaboration with American stars Drake and Future on the Grammy-winning single ‘Wait for U.‘

Tems, who shot to global fame with her feature on ‘Essence,’ has since been in high demand, collaborating with global icons like Rihanna and Beyoncé. Her collaboration on Wait for U, featuring Drake and Future, marked a significant career milestone, earning her two nominations at the 65th Grammy Awards and eventually winning her first Grammy.

In a recent interview, Donawon shared the story behind the collaboration. He recalled how, while Tems and her team were filming with Coca-Cola, he received a message from a colleague urging him to check his email immediately. Upon opening the email, Donawon found a request from Epic Records—Future’s label—seeking clearance for ‘Wait for U,‘ which samples Tems’ song ‘Higher‘ as its central hook.

Adding an interesting twist, Donawon noted that Drake was not originally part of the track when Tems and her team initially approved it, making his later addition an unexpected but exciting surprise in the project’s evolution.

This behind-the-scenes insight sheds light on the collaborative process that led to one of Tems’ most celebrated moments, reflecting her impressive journey as a rising global star.
