Windeck- Cabo Snoop

The early 2010s was a blissful year with many hots dominating the radios. One of them was “Windeck” by Angolan artist, Cabo Snoop.

“Windeck” is the song that captured listeners whether or not they understood the language and got them dancing once it came on the speaker.

Alhaji- Ramatoulaye Decale

This was a song that was popular thanks to the heavy use of drums and lamba.

Most of us know the deal only when this song is at least a minute in to hear the infamous repetition of “Alhaji” followed by what sounds like gongo drums.

Nevertheless, waistlines are on gogo! It’s still hilarious to to think how many people resonate with this song so much, they thought it originated from their country!

No meaningful message whatsoever but who cared when they trying to keep up with the pace of this upbeat song?

Y-Tjukutja- Uhuru ft DJ Buckz, Oskido, Professor & Yuri Da Cunha

Uhuru served fans this great music in 2014 which pushed his sound beyond the shores of South Africa.

The song won the best collaboration of the year at the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2014.

Azonto- Fuse ODG ft Tiffany

Fuse ODG put Ghana on the music map when he dropped “Azonto” featuring Ghanaian Afro-pop artist, Itz Tiffany.

The song started a movement with its funky beat and dance routine which started a huge trend in Ghana and internationally. It was released in 2013 and was one of the tracks from his new and great album named “T.I.N.A. (This Is New Africa)”.

Khona- Mafikizolo ft Uhuru

Mafikizolo is a South African Afro-pop music duo formed in 1996 consisting of composer Theo Kgosinkwe and lead singer Nhlanhla Nciza.

From 1997 to 2006, they released seven successful albums before going on a hiatus. They resumed work as a group in 2013 when they released their internationally acclaimed single “Khona” featuring Uhuru.

“Khona” was a hit in South Africa and outside it.

Dorobucci- Mavins

In the history of Nigerian pop collaborations, “Dorobucci” is one of the few songs that was a culture reset.

The song brought with it slang, and dance routine and even had people changing their names with ‘Doro’ as the prefix. 2017 was a big year thanks to this song.

Sherif then solidified his stand in the music space with his delivery, ‘Kwaku The Traveler’, which became the most shazamed song upon arrival.

With 339 thousand YouTube subscribers, Black Sherif claims the 5th spot.

The Antenna Crooner has 277 thousand YouTube subscribers. Being a producer and a singer, Fuse has been in the game for a decade.

Amaarae

This youngster is popularly known for her 2021’s hit song, ‘Sad Girlz Luv Money’, which has spanned over 7 million streams on YouTube. Currently, Amaarae has 150 thousand YouTube subscribers.

The 9th position on our list is Kelvyn Boy. The singer currently has 114 thousand YouTube subscribers.

Kwesi Arthur – 113k

Lastly on the top 10 Ghanaian artists with the most YouTube subscribers list is Kwesi Arthur. Starting off as a rapper, the singer gained stardom in 2017 with the hit single “Grind day” which received widespread acclaim and a co-sign from rap heavyweights Sarkodie and Medikal.

Martinsfeelz has been making waves in the industry for a while and the singer decided to whet his fans’ appetite with his cover of Skiibii’s trending song.

The singer posted his cover of the song on his Instagram page on the 20th of February, 2022.

He beautifully delivered an amazing verse proving why he is one of the artists to look forward to this year.

Recall that, Mp3bullet.ng came across reports that the singer is set to drop two hot songs which would feature British Rapper, Sneakbo.

In a series of posts on his Instagram stories, MartinsFeelz shared some videos of him in the studio with Sneakbo. Their location tag on the posts shows that their link-up was in Ghana.

According to reports, the two were in Ghana shooting a music video for one of the songs.

The first one is produced by DJ Coublon and is ready but no date for its release has been announced.

The second song according to MartinsFeelz’s posts shows it was created while he and Sneakbo were hanging out in the studio.

MartinsFeelz’s manager also posted a video of the singer vibing to the unreleased song. In his caption, he revealed that not only would the song feature Sneakbo, it would also feature UK-based Ghanaian singer, Fuse ODG.

Just like the first one, no date has been announced for its release.

The MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin, also known as the MOBOs) are an annual British music award presentation honoring achievements in “music of black origin”, including hip hop, grime, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and African music.

The MOBO Organisation was founded by Kanya King, and the first MOBO award was presented to Baby D, in the Best Dance Act category.

The inaugural awards were broadcast by Carlton Television from London’s Connaught Rooms.

Across its 22-year history, the MOBOs have been broadcast on Channel 4, BBC Television, ITV2, and Channel 5 before returning to the BBC in 2020. In 2009, the ceremony was held for the first time in Glasgow.

Prior to that, it had been held in London. In 2011, the ceremony returned for a second time to Scotland. The awards then moved to Leeds for the first time in 2015.

The show returned to Leeds in 2017 when it was last held before going on hiatus. In 2020 it was confirmed it would be returning that year, however for the first time ever it would be streamed on YouTube.

Afrobeats is also known as Afro-pop, Afro-fusion is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Nigeria, Ghana, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s.

Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing out of Ghana and Nigeria.

Genres such as hiplife, jùjú music, highlife, and Naija beats, among others, were amalgamated under the ‘afrobeats’ umbrella.

Afrobeats is primarily produced in Lagos, Accra, and London. Historian and cultural critic Paul Gilroy reflects on the changing London music scene as a result of shifting demographics.

Nigerians love to dance and it’s in our DNA, so many Nigerian artists are aware.

Therefore they’re constantly writing songs for the latest dance moves or for the more creative ones, artists inventing new dance moves for Nigerians to rock to and extend the life of their songs.

Azonto became popular in Nigeria thanks to Ghanaian singer Fuse ODG whose monster hit song ‘Azonto’ featuring Tiffany was released on the 27th of Oct 2011.

It gained more popularity when Wizkid did a freestyle on it and when the video above went viral, gaining more views than even the official video by Fuse.

Etighi originated from the Calabar/Akwa Ibom region of Nigeria, It became mainstream popular when Iyanya; who is from this region released the video for his hit single, Kukere in 2012.

Etighi had a brief but intense lifespan because it was the simplest of dances but if you take a closer look, it is there in many dance routines.

Skelewu – Davido

The Nigerian Afro-pop singer, Davido wowed everyone with his hit single released on Aug 18, 2013, Skelewu, and followed it up with a beautiful dance step to promote the song.

The song gave the Nigerian artist recognition home and abroad; the most memorable was when it was played during the halftime of a Spanish La Liga match.

Shoki –  Lil Kesh
