Nigerian rapper and activist Falz has clarified that his outspoken views on governance are not directed at any particular politician or political party, insisting that his focus remains on issues affecting Nigerians.

The entertainer made the clarification during a recent appearance on Arise 360, where he addressed questions about whether his advocacy and social commentary had affected his career opportunities and brand partnerships.

Falz revealed that a company once approached his management for a possible collaboration but later raised concerns about his stance on political and social issues in the country.

However, the rapper explained that his criticism has always been centred on systems and policies rather than individuals, noting that he has never publicly attacked any politician or political organisation by name.

According to him, his message is about demanding accountability and speaking against poor governance rather than promoting any political agenda.

“I’m not single handedly picking at anyone to antagonise. What I’m speaking to is the practice and not even really the people in particular. I’ve mentioned no name, I’ve mentioned no political party or whatever.”

The “This Is Nigeria” crooner added that people who feel personally offended by his comments may be associating themselves with the issues he highlights.

Falz also stated that he would rather lose certain opportunities than compromise his values or stop speaking about issues he believes are important.

He explained that if some organisations are uncomfortable with his position on social matters, then such partnerships may not align with his personal principles.

The rapper has remained one of Nigeria’s most vocal entertainers on social issues, frequently using his music and public platform to address topics including governance, inequality, and national challenges.

Known for weaving clever lyricism with humour, social commentary, and relatable storytelling, the award-winning artist explores different sides of his craft on the project. “Break Time” sees Falz effortlessly switch between hard-hitting rap verses, infectious Afrobeats rhythms, and Afro-fusion influences, creating a sound that feels both familiar and refreshing.

Across the EP, Falz touches on a range of themes, from personal reflection and ambition to relationships and everyday experiences.

While each track tells its own story, the songs come together to form a cohesive listening experience that showcases the rapper’s artistic growth and willingness to experiment.

The project also benefits from many guest appearances, with Oiza x Meyi, FirstKlaz, Priesst, and Kurdi Klymax each bringing their unique styles to the record. Rather than overshadowing the host, the collaborations complement Falz’s delivery and add new dimensions to the EP.

Production is another strong point throughout “Break Time.” Crisp mixing, layered instrumentation, and polished arrangements allow every song to breathe, while blending contemporary Afrobeats with hip-hop elements to create an engaging sonic experience.

Beyond the catchy beats and memorable hooks, the EP is anchored by thoughtful songwriting that reflects Falz’s knack for connecting with listeners through honest narratives and culturally relevant themes.

With “Break Time,” Falz once again reminds fans why he remains one of Nigeria’s most respected creatives, delivering a concise yet impactful project that comfortably earns its place among this year’s notable Afrobeats and hip-hop releases.

Falz is back on familiar ground where he’s most impactful, speaking truth to power. His new single, “OLE,” arrives as a sharp, unfiltered release that blends his trademark mix of hip-hop edge and Afrobeats influence while doubling down on the socially conscious voice he has long been known for.

Falz Returns to His Roots With Powerful New Single “OLE”

It’s been nearly four years since his politically charged track “Yakubu,” and “OLE” feels like a direct continuation of that same urgency. Serving as the lead single from his upcoming EP Break Time, the 2-minute-15-second record wastes no time settling into its message.

From the very title “Ole,” the Yoruba word for “thief”, Falz sets the tone for a track that is openly confrontational and deliberately pointed.

Across the record, he tackles the realities shaping everyday life in Nigeria, pulling no punches as he addresses corruption, insecurity, and economic strain. He touches on inflation, unemployment, and the increasing difficulty of affording basic needs like healthcare, education, and personal safety.

The frustration builds as he reflects on how these issues persist across repeated election cycles, where promises often dissolve into disappointment once power is secured.

Insecurity also sits at the center of his message. Falz highlights the ongoing wave of kidnappings and violence, painting a picture of a society where uncertainty has become routine in daily conversations. His delivery carries a sense of exhaustion and urgency, as though each bar is pulled directly from lived experience and collective frustration.

Sonically, “OLE” is stripped down by design. The production is dark, minimal, and steady—built on a brooding, minor-key foundation with tense percussion that never tries to overshadow the message. Instead, it creates space for his lyricism to sit upfront, raw and uncompromised.

There’s nothing glossy or commercially calculated about the approach here. This is Falz in full commentary mode, delivering a dense, fast-moving performance that feels more like a street-level broadcast than a radio single.

He raps with clarity and intensity, calling out systemic failures, leadership shortcomings, and the recurring cycle of hardship that defines many communities.

Ultimately, “OLE” reinforces his place as one of the more socially conscious voices in Nigerian music. In a landscape often driven by escapism, this release leans the other way: direct, uncomfortable, and intentionally reflective of the times.

Listen to “Ole” HERE

He stressed that insecurity should not be viewed through a partisan lens but as a national emergency requiring collective concern.

Falz expressed particular concern over victims of recent abductions, noting that some kidnapped schoolchildren and residents remain unaccounted for months after being taken.

According to him:

“We stepped out yesterday to protest wors£ning levels of ins£curity and mass @bductions around the country. What was wild to see was that Tinubu and his supporters had rented a crowd of counter protesters the majority of which were women. These women have children. Incase you don’t know why we are out there protesting. The children that were taken from schools in Oyo state, they still have not been found.”

The rapper went on to reference reports of violent attacks in parts of the country, highlighting the human cost of the ongoing security crisis and the need for sustained public attention.

He continued:

“Let me put this in perspective for you. There is a community called Woro in Kwara state. February 3rd into 4th this year, this same year o, by 5:30 pm, !nsurgents att@cked this community, now from 5:30 pm overnight into the next morning, there was a sustained att@ck where they m@$$acr£d people. About 200 people were k!||£d. And do you know how many people were taken away? About a 176 people were taken away. These people are still in c@pt!vity.”

Urging Nigerians to recognise the seriousness of the situation, Falz warned that no community is immune to the threat posed by insecurity if decisive action is not taken.

He added:

“It could be your ch!ldren tomorrow. It could eventually be your ch!ldren, just incase you don’t know what you are doing. This is the £nd of us if we allow this to continue….”

The artist has long been one of Nigeria’s most vocal public figures on social and political issues, frequently using his platform to advocate for accountability, justice, and civic engagement. His latest comments have reignited conversations online about the country’s security challenges and the role citizens can play in demanding solutions.

The lawyer-turned-rapper made his stance clear in a viral video circulating on social media, where he also urged governments at all levels to ensure justice for the victims of the killings that occurred in Kwara State on Tuesday, February 3.

In the video, Falz expressed deep frustration with the state of the nation, criticising not just the Federal Government but also Nigerians, political leaders, and religious figures.

According to him, the absence of arrests or prosecutions after such large-scale violence has made killings feel disturbingly routine.

He also aimed at the Senate, faulting its position on the proposed amendment of the Electoral Act, while questioning the overall seriousness of leadership in addressing the country’s challenges.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with us. And I don’t know when we’re going to wake up. I don’t know. I really don’t know.

“The other day, nearly 200 people were killed in Kwara. The president just came, released a statement, a normal statement. ‘Oh, I’m saddened by the…

“Bro, who has been arrested? Who has been prosecuted for this? Nobody. Nothing. Just carry on. You’re always sending people. What are they doing? Nothing!

“They’re killing scores and scores of people every day. But today, people will go to church. Your Daddy G.O., your papa, will tell you to sit down there and pray. Pray that God will come and save you.

“They’ve started campaigning for the next elections. ‘Relax, Tinubu is fixing Nigeria.’ He is? Okay,” Falz said partly.

His comments have since sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians echoing his concerns about accountability, governance, and the growing normalisation of violence across the country.

Nigeria’s music dominance once again took centre stage on Sunday night as the 9th edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) lit up the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos.

Hosted by rapper and actor Falz, the ceremony brought together Africa’s biggest stars for a night that celebrated sound, culture and continental excellence.

Stealing the spotlight was Rema, whose name echoed repeatedly through the hall after he emerged as one of the biggest winners of the evening.

The Afrobeats superstar clinched three major awards, underlining his growing influence across Africa and beyond. Rema was crowned Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artist in Western Africa, and Best African Artistin R&B and Soul, a clean sweep that set the tone for the night.

While Rema dominated individual honours, Burna Boy walked away with one of the ceremony’s most coveted prizes. The Grammy-winning star won Album of the Year for No Sign of Weakness, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s most consistent global exports.

Burna Boy also shared another moment of triumph through collaboration, picking up Best African Collaboration alongside Shallipopi.

Shallipopi had a memorable night of his own, adding Song of the Year to his growing list of accolades with his viral hit Laho. His wins reflected the increasing influence of street-pop sounds on the African music landscape.

Veteran rapper Phyno continued to represent African hip-hop proudly after winning Best African Artiste in African Hip-Hop. At the same time, Yemi Alade showcased her versatility by securing Best Soundtrack in a Movie, Series, or Documentary for her song You Are, featured in the animated series Iyanu.

The future of African music was also well represented. Rising star Qing Madi was named Most Promising Artist of the Year, edging out a competitive list of nominees including Cysoul, Joshua Baraka, King Luca, L’Oiseau Rare, Lwah Ndlunkulu, Massamba Amadeus, Rym, Kunmie, and Fola. Meanwhile, fast-rising singer Chella earned the crowd’s love after emerging African Fans’ Favourite.

Other Nigerian acts who recorded wins on the night include Yemi Alade, Qing Madi, Phyno and Chella, reinforcing Nigeria’s strong presence at the pan-African awards ceremony.

With electrifying performances, emotional acceptance speeches and a celebration of Africa’s diverse sounds, AFRIMA 2025 once again lived up to its reputation.

The Lagos-hosted ceremony not only honoured chart-toppers and rising stars but also told a bigger story — one of Africa’s music industry continuing to grow louder, bolder and more influential on the global stage.

Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has once again shaken the political table, sparking heated conversations online after boldly calling out the Tinubu-led administration over its handling of insecurity in the country.

The rapper, who has never been one to shy away from social issues, took to X on Wednesday to vent his frustration about the government’s response to recent abduction incidents.

In a thread filled with anger and disbelief, Falz questioned why officials consistently announce successful rescue operations yet remain silent about the fate of the criminals behind the kidnappings.

In his words:

“How can you conduct a rescue operation and you are saying absolutely nothing about the abductors?!! Who has been arrested so far?!”

Falz didn’t stop there. He escalated his criticism, making a damning allegation that immediately caught nationwide attention:

“Let it be on record that the Tinubu government is enabling terrorism. Despicable.”

His comments have since ignited a storm across social media, with supporters praising his courage and critics accusing him of going too far.

One thing is clear, though: Falz has once again forced a difficult national conversation back into the spotlight.

His comments followed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s announcement on Sunday, November 23, confirming that all victims had been rescued.

Falz had taken to social media shortly after the president’s official statement on X, which reported the safe return of 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State, and 51 Catholic school students from Niger State who were earlier declared missing.

While he acknowledged the relief that comes with the victims’ rescue, the rapper wondered why no information had been shared about the individuals behind the attacks.

To him, celebrating the rescue was important, but Nigerians also deserved clarity on whether the perpetrators had been tracked down, arrested, or neutralised.

President Tinubu, in his statement, noted that he had cancelled his planned trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to coordinate security efforts at home. He praised the security agencies for their work in the past few days and assured citizens that he remains fully involved in monitoring nationwide security developments.

My fellow Nigerians,

The president further reiterated his commitment to protecting the lives of Nigerians, declaring that he would “not relent” until the nation is secure.

Falz’s reaction has echoed the concerns of many Nigerians, who continue to question the rising wave of abductions and the lack of transparency regarding the fate of the criminal networks behind them.

At the time this report was filed, security agencies had not issued any official statement confirming arrests linked to either of the two incidents.

Falz’s demand follows a string of violent incidents, including the abduction of 25 students from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State; the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba in Borno State; and the terrorist attack on a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) branch in Kwara State.

The rapper made the statement on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), where he drew attention to a 2014 tweet by Tinubu.

At the time, Tinubu, then an opposition figure, had urged former President Goodluck Jonathan to resign for failing to tackle insecurity.

In a pointed reference to the president’s past words, Falz quoted the exact message Tinubu once directed at Jonathan:
“You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW!”

Falz’s post has sparked wide-ranging reactions online as conversations around Nigeria’s worsening insecurity continue to intensify.

You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW! https://t.co/GyYorlOHdp

— Bop Daddy (@falzthebahdguy) November 19, 2025

The tweet in question dates back to November 2014 seven months after the Chibok schoolgirls were kidnapped. In it, Tinubu wrote: “Why should any part of this country be under occupation? In any civilized country, Jonathan should resign.”

That wasn’t the first time he voiced such criticism. Earlier that year, during a speech in Ilorin, Tinubu had openly accused the Jonathan administration of dishonesty and incompetence in handling the Boko Haram crisis. He said:
“I saw the sea of displaced persons caused by the Boko Haram insurgents and the lies coming from Jonathan’s administration. They have exhibited failure, lack of capacity, vision, creativity; the lie of yesterday is what they repeat today.”

He also questioned how insurgents could seize Nigerian territory while the President remained Commander-in-Chief, insisting:
“If you control the armed forces… why should any part of this country be under occupation? In any civilized country, Jonathan should resign.”

Falz’s recent criticism lands at a time when national anger is boiling over renewed attacks. The killings and abductions in Kebbi—including the death of a vice principal—and the assault on a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) branch in Kwara State have deepened fears about growing insecurity under the current administration.

The rapper’s comments also line up with the international spotlight now falling on Nigeria’s security struggles. Just a day earlier, American rapper Nicki Minaj addressed the United Nations alongside U.S. Ambassador Michael Waltz, urging urgent action to protect Nigerian Christians from persecution.

She emphasized peace, unity, and freedom of worship, while also acknowledging former U.S. President Donald Trump for drawing attention to the crisis.

The record bursts with the infectious liveliness Falz is known for—smart, witty, and irresistibly rhythmic—reminding fans why he remains one of Nigeria’s most dynamic and multifaceted artists.

Falz Brings the Groove Back with “Bounce”

Serving as the follow-up to his well-received single Round of Applause, Bounce captures Falz at his most playful and experimental. The track opens with an instantly captivating beat layered with rhythmic percussion, tropical synths, and groovy basslines that blend seamlessly with Falz’s animated delivery.

It’s a sound designed for movement both on the dancefloor and in spirit, as the rapper encourages listeners to “bounce” in rhythm with the beat and, metaphorically, to rise above life’s pressures with joy and confidence.

True to his reputation as one of Nigeria’s most lyrically astute performers, Falz brings his signature flair to Bounce, effortlessly blending English, Yoruba, and Pidgin in a way that feels both conversational and sharp. His witty wordplay and comedic undertones cut through the track’s party energy, giving it layers of meaning beneath the groove. It’s this duality, clever social observation delivered through infectious fun, that continues to set Falz apart from his contemporaries.

Producer Aykbeats deserves credit for crafting a soundscape that perfectly complements Falz’s flow. The beat pulsates with polished energy, built around a dancehall-inspired rhythm and accented with Afropop percussion that makes the track an undeniable banger.

From start to finish, it’s a masterclass in balance, energetic enough for the club, yet refined enough to fit into the playlists of listeners who appreciate Falz’s thoughtful artistry.

While Bounce is drenched in good vibes, it also carries a subtle message about freedom, resilience, and finding joy amid chaos. Falz’s delivery is confident but lighthearted, inviting fans to celebrate life’s small victories while keeping their spirits high. This thematic mix of positivity and rhythm has become a trademark of his recent musical evolution.

The release also follows Falz’s high-profile collaboration Anything Goes with ODUMODUBLVCK, a record that showcased his ability to blend street grit with artistic sophistication. Compared to the socially charged themes of his last project, The Feast, Bounce leans more into escapism, a reminder that even the sharpest minds in music can still make room for pure, unfiltered enjoyment.

With Bounce, Falz once again reaffirms his place as one of Nigeria’s most inventive voices, continuously redefining what it means to be an artist in the Afrobeats era. Between Aykbeats’ stellar production and Falz’s charismatic storytelling, the song stands as both a celebration and an evolution of the sound of an artist still pushing boundaries, one witty bar and infectious beat at a time.

The socially conscious entertainer made his remarks while reacting to a post by comedian Nasboi, who had urged Nigerians to unite beyond ethnicity and religion and focus instead on holding their leaders accountable.

In his response, Falz lamented how politicians and influential figures continue to exploit these sentiments to sow discord among citizens, calling it one of the country’s most depressing realities.

“I cannot begin to explain how depressing it has been in recent years, seeing tribal and religious sentiments still being used to turn us against each other. At some point we need to start thinking for ourselves,” he wrote.

His statement comes amid renewed online debates between Christian and Muslim youths after reports surfaced that former U.S. President Donald Trump had allegedly threatened military action against Nigeria over alleged attacks on Christians by Islamic extremists.

Falz, who is known for his activism and thought-provoking lyrics, reiterated that Nigerians must rise above manipulative narratives and learn to think critically for themselves. For him, unity and awareness remain the only real path toward national progress.
