A social media conversation about family wealth and the struggles of Nigerian musicians has turned into a heated exchange between Afrobeats superstar Davido and rapper Erigga.

What started as a post celebrating artists who built their careers without financial backing from wealthy families quickly escalated after Davido, who comes from a prominent and financially comfortable background, challenged the point being made by Erigga.

Davido vs Erigga: How the Social Media Clash Over Family Wealth Started

The conversation began on X on Wednesday when Erigga highlighted musicians who had to work their way up without the advantage of family money. His post focused on the effort required to earn a living and build a career from scratch.

Davido soon joined the conversation, taking issue with the way the message appeared to separate musicians based on their family backgrounds.

The singer argued that coming from a wealthy family does not automatically take away from an artist’s hard work. He maintained that musicians who grew up with financial privilege can still put in the necessary work, face setbacks, and make sacrifices before reaching the top of the industry.

Davido’s response quickly attracted attention online, with social media users split over the argument. While some felt Erigga was simply acknowledging the unique struggles faced by artists from less privileged backgrounds, others agreed with Davido that family wealth should not be used to dismiss an artist’s accomplishments.

Davido hints at leaving music.

The exchange took another turn when Davido suggested that he could eventually walk away from music and focus more heavily on his financial ambitions and other ventures.

The comment added another layer to the conversation, particularly given the singer’s long-standing reputation for combining his music career with business interests and other investments.

Davido also questioned the idea of celebrating poverty or financial struggle, pushing the conversation beyond the music industry and into a wider debate about how society views wealth and success.

Social media reacts

As expected, the disagreement quickly became a talking point across X, with fans and observers taking sides.

Supporters of Erigga argued that his original message was not necessarily an attack on wealthy artists but rather recognition for musicians who had to overcome financial limitations while pursuing their dreams.

Davido’s supporters, meanwhile, maintained that an artiste’s privileged upbringing should not automatically invalidate the work that goes into building and maintaining a successful career.

The disagreement has consequently revived a familiar conversation within Nigerian entertainment: Does coming from money reduce the value of an artiste’s success, or can privilege and hard work exist side by side?

Erigga’s old Davido admiration resurfaces.

The situation gained another interesting twist after Davido dug up an older post from Erigga dating back to the early 2020s, in which the rapper had expressed interest in collaborating with him.

By bringing the old post back into the conversation, Davido added another layer to their ongoing social media back-and-forth.

For now, what began as a discussion about musicians and family wealth has evolved into a much bigger debate about privilege, struggle, ambition and what it truly means to be self-made in the Nigerian music industry.

Erigga’s message praised artists who built their careers without relying on family wealth, highlighting the struggle and determination it took for them to earn every dollar.

Davido, however, appeared to take a different view of the conversation, arguing that coming from a wealthy family does not automatically mean an artiste lacks the work ethic or ambition required to succeed.

The singer pushed back against the idea that only musicians from modest backgrounds deserve recognition for their hustle. He pointed out that artists who grew up with financial privilege can also put in the work and rise to the top of their profession.

No be we say make your pops no guard o
Shoutout to the ones that came from family money and still grind to the top
Comot here with that your useless motivation … imbecile https://t.co/bJGSL38FlW

— Davido (@davido) September 2, 2026

Taking the exchange further, Davido suggested that he could eventually leave music behind and redirect his energy towards achieving his financial ambitions.

His comments have since attracted attention online, particularly because the singer has repeatedly spoken about his success, wealth, and long-term ambitions beyond music.

For now, there is no indication that Davido is preparing for an immediate retirement. The remark appears to be more of a reflection of his desire to pursue bigger financial goals while questioning the romanticization of poverty and struggle.

With a career spanning more than a decade and several major Afrobeats records to his name, any eventual decision by Davido to step away from music would undoubtedly mark a significant moment for the Nigerian music industry.

No worry o I go soon leave their music for una GO MAKE MY BILLIONS … then that shit gonna be boring AF

From the everyday struggles of the common man to the hypocrisies of the elite, he leaves nothing unsaid.

The production matches his lyrical grit with a dark, brooding hip-hop beat that puts his storytelling front and center.

It’s raw and unpolished, echoing the harsh realities he paints. This isn’t a track for the club; it’s a reflective listen, a narrative for those willing to sit with its truths.

Lyrically, Erigga is as incisive as ever. Themes of betrayal, the pressures of making it, and the mental toll of the grind dominate, with the title Pour The World Spit perfectly encapsulating his method: an honest, unfiltered outpouring of observations and truths.

His metaphors hit hard, inviting repeated listens to fully grasp the depth of his commentary.

In an industry often swayed by trends, Erigga remains refreshingly authentic, holding tight to his dialect and his message. Pour The World Spit reinforces his unique position as a storyteller unafraid to show the world its reflection even when it’s uncomfortable.

Nigerian rapper Erigga has never been one to shy away from speaking his mind, and this time, he’s turning his lens on love, money, and the modern dating scene.

During a recent chat on Yanga FM Lagos, the outspoken Warri-born rapper lamented what he calls the “death of true romance,” blaming it largely on the lifestyle influence of internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys.

According to Erigga, the extravagant display of wealth by these young men has warped the idea of love for many, turning relationships into transactions rather than emotional connections.

“Yahoo boys don kill romance,” Erigga said frankly. “When last did you see two lovers holding hands in the street? It’s been a long time. We’re raising weak men who think their worth is only measured by how much they have.”

Reflecting on the past, the Motivation crooner painted a nostalgic picture of simpler times when affection didn’t come with a price tag.

“Back then, women appreciated little things,” he recalled. “There was a time when meat pie and Fanta date was enough to make a woman happy. Now, everything is about money, and men helped create that problem by trying too hard to impress.”

Erigga went on to stress that relationships built solely on wealth rarely last, urging both men and women to return to the basics of genuine connection love, laughter, and mutual respect.

“Love no be by money alone,” he concluded. “Emotional intelligence and true communication are what really keep people connected.”

As always, Erigga’s words cut through the noise a reminder that in a world obsessed with luxury and likes, true love might just be the one thing money can’t buy.

Nigerian rapper Erigga has weighed in on the ongoing rift between hip-hop stars Odumodublvck and Blaqbonez, sharing a candid perspective on how their back-and-forth might be doing more harm than good to the rap scene.

During an interview on Yanga 89.9 FM, which surfaced online on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the rapper from Warri explained that while public feuds often create buzz, they rarely contribute to the long-term growth of the hip-hop community.

“Beef brings traction, but it doesn’t help the culture,” Erigga said frankly.

According to him, many fans engage in rap beefs for entertainment rather than genuine interest in the art form.

“The room now is somehow, not because they love hip-hop, but because they love seeing two people go at each other,” he added.

Erigga pointed out that fans are usually loud when artists clash but go silent when there are positive strides worth celebrating in the industry.

The rapper, known for his street wisdom and raw lyrical style, clarified that his opinion wasn’t personal or biased.

“Odumodu is not my guy, Black is not my guy,” he stated, emphasizing that his stance comes from an objective concern for the culture rather than allegiance to either camp.

Erigga concluded by calling for a more meaningful approach to growing the Nigerian hip-hop ecosystem.

“To understand this genre, this fight… it runs deeper than lyrics and wax,” he remarked thoughtfully.

The Odumodublvck–Blaqbonez feud has dominated social media in recent weeks, sparking debates among fans and insiders over whether rap rivalries fuel creativity or simply fracture the culture.

4lyce comes through with a new song titled “Chingary,” which stands out as one of the most compelling to consider adding to your playlist.

Chingary, a song that blends rap storytelling with Afrobeats rhythm, has a gritty but melodic beat. Lyrically, it’s a personal reflection, with 4FLYCE pouring out his emotions without filter.

Born in Nigeria into a large family of ten, 4FLYCE has always been “born different”. Early on, he was labelled as the outcast and found solace in his creativity and music. What started as a youthful attraction to sound and rhythm grew into a life’s purpose. By 2017, he had taken the bold step of founding his own record label, KWEMZIK MUSIQ, a platform that allowed him to explore his vision while nurturing other artists.

4flyce

Under KWEMZIK MUSIQ, he worked with fellow artist Darnaski, forming the group Darlington Koka. Their efforts paid off, landing them a performance slot at Harrysong’s concert in Warri in 2018. The following year, the duo dropped an EP titled Indigenous Vibe and later secured a collaboration during Orezi’s 2019 concert. While the experience brought challenges and financial setbacks, 4FLYCE turned the struggles into lessons that continue to shape his art.

New Chapter: Three Singles with a Story

4FLYCE is back with fresh energy, dropping three new singles across all platforms — OK Freestyle, How You Dey, and Chingary. Each track explores real-life experiences, from betrayal and detachment to survival and self-belief. Rather than masking his pain, 4FLYCE translates his scars into lyrics that resonate with anyone navigating struggles.

On Chingary, He opens with:
“Every day my heart is beating mean say am still alive again, So I live to believe in myself.”

The honesty in these lines reminds listeners of the resilience needed to push forward despite hardship. He continues with words of motivation:

“And my breath becomes motivation to focus on my vision life mission; Way nor easy at all my core, my War.”

It’s a candid confession from a man who is struggling with his circumstances and refusing to give up.

4FLYCE’s artistry doesn’t come in isolation. He draws inspiration from Nigerian greats like 2Baba, Vector the Viper, Erigga, and Olamide, while also borrowing from global rap icons such as Nas, KRS-One, and J Hus. The result is a hybrid sound; lyrical rap grounded in storytelling, layered with Afrobeats energy and streetwise grit.

These influences are evident in Chingary, where sharp delivery meets soulful rhythm, creating a track that feels both modern and deeply rooted in tradition.

Music With a Purpose

What makes 4FLYCE different is that he isn’t just making songs for entertainment; his music is therapy. He channels feelings of betrayal, backstabbing, detachment, and curiosity that nearly led him astray into words that others can hold onto. As he puts it, a man is a “spiritual being”, and that spiritual depth underscores every track he delivers.

Looking Ahead with KWEMZIK MUSIQ

Nigerian hip-hop artist Erigga has sparked a wave of reflection across social media with a timely message for creatives, encouraging them to act decisively on their ideas before it’s too late.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) page, the Warri-born rapper shared a powerful insight that resonated deeply within the artistic and entrepreneurial communities.

His post emphasized that when creators delay acting on their inspirations, it’s not unusual for those same concepts to emerge elsewhere, through someone else entirely.

“If you have an idea you’re excited about and you don’t bring it to life, it’s not uncommon for the idea to find its voice through another maker,” Erigga wrote. “This isn’t because the other artist stole your idea, but because the idea’s time has come.”

His remarks quickly went viral, igniting widespread conversation among artists, writers, filmmakers, and innovators who shared similar experiences.

Many users recounted moments where ideas they once shelved due to fear, doubt, or procrastination later surfaced in the work of others.

The post served as a wake-up call, with Erigga subtly reminding creatives that ideas have a life of their own—and when ignored, they often seek expression through someone else who is ready.

Known for his street-smart lyricism and unfiltered commentary on real-life struggles, Erigga has consistently used his platform to deliver wisdom beyond music.

This latest message underscores his role as not just a rapper, but a voice for everyday thinkers navigating a fast-moving creative world.

Outspoken rapper and lyricist, Erigga, has stirred up conversation in Nigeria’s aviation circles after voicing strong disapproval of the refreshment standards offered by local airlines to business class passengers.

Taking to microblogging platform X, the Warri-born artiste questioned the value of premium travel services, lamenting the mismatch between the hefty ticket prices and the meagre refreshments served onboard.

“When are we going to talk about airlines collecting 300k for business class and serving you 50 naira biscuits and two sweet … Watin do short bread or eba and Ohwo?” he tweeted, in a post that quickly went viral.

His remarks have sparked an avalanche of reactions online, with scores of passengers echoing similar frustrations about their travel experiences. Many criticised domestic carriers for allegedly cutting corners despite charging premium fees.

The post has since triggered a broader debate about customer satisfaction and service delivery in Nigeria’s aviation industry, particularly regarding the expectations for business class passengers.

Erigga, known for his raw commentary on societal issues, appears to have struck a chord with frequent flyers who feel shortchanged by the current in-flight service standards.

While no airline has issued an official response as of the time of filing this report, the buzz around the rapper’s tweet has once again placed a spotlight on the need for better value in the country’s air travel sector.
