Ghanaian artist Shatta Wale is set to perform at Emmanuel Adebayor’s retirement concert in Lome, Togo. The event, known as the Jubilee Concert, is part of a series of programs celebrating Adebayor’s retirement from professional football. The former Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur striker officially retired last year but postponed his retirement celebrations to June 2024.

The Jubilee celebrations will begin on June 19 with a youth marathon and a special female football tournament. The main event will be a grand concert at the Stade de Kegue in Lome, featuring performances by Shatta Wale and other renowned artists. Shatta Wale confirmed his participation in a video shared on Adebayor’s TikTok page.

When Adebayor retired last year, he released a press release saying: “My professional career has come to an end. We have lived together moments of joy and intense emotions, in my respective clubs as well as with the selection of the Togolese National Team.

“At this moment when I am preparing to open a new page of my life, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone, from near or far. A great way to celebrate this moment would be to invite you all to the jubilee that the SEA Foundation is organizing to mark the end.

“Join me in June 2024 for this grandiose event which will take the form of a sports festival for the promotion of values of peace, stability and cohesion between the peoples of Africa. Several activities are on the program for this jubilee, culminating in a gala match which will bring together in Lomé the big names in the world of football.”

Adebayor’s career began at Togolese side AC Merlan Lome before moving to Europe to join FC Metz. His illustrious career included stints at Monaco, Real Madrid, and several Premier League clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Crystal Palace. He also played for Turkish teams Istanbul Basaksehir and Kayserispor, and South American club Olimpia Asuncion. Adebayor returned to Togo to play for AC Semmasi before retiring from professional football.

Emmanuel Adebayor, a former striker for the Premier League, has announced his retirement from football at the age of 39.

Adebayor played for Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham, and Crystal Palace during his more than 10 years in England. He has already announced his retirement in a bizarre Instagram video.

The short video included footage of his iconic goal for City against his old team Arsenal in 2009, which is undoubtedly the most remembered of his career. He celebrated the score by sprinting across the field in front of the Arsenal fans after it.

Alongside the video, Adebayor posted the caption: ‘SEA, from the highs to the lows, my career as a professional athlete has been an incredible journey. 

‘Thank you to my fans for being there every step of the way. I’m feeling so grateful for everything, and excited for what’s to come!’

Adebayor then wrote a message on a piece of paper that read: ‘Thanks for the blessings!!!’

The only two goals Adebayor included in his retirement video were from his time at City.

The attacker did, however, enjoy some memorable experiences at his past teams, including his 2008 African Footballer of the Year victory at Arsenal.

From 2005 and 2009, he was also named Togo’s Footballer of the Year five times in a row, and the video did feature images of him wearing the flag of his home nation.

In the Togo team bus that was targeted by terrorists in 2010 as it travelled to Angola for the competition, Adebayor was a passenger. In the incident, three individuals died and nine others were wounded.

During his tenure in England, he scored 97 Premier League goals while playing for Spurs, Arsenal, and Man City.

Adebayor spent most of his prime years in England, although he also had brief stays at Real Madrid in 2011 and Metz in France at the beginning of his career.

Adebayor spent time in Madrid after returning to England, spending three years at Tottenham and six months at Palace before relocating to Turkey at the beginning of 2017 to join Istanbul Basaksehir.

He later played for the Turkish team Kayserispor before trying his luck with Olimpia in Paraguay.

After more than two decades as a professional, he has decided to retire from the sport. He completed his career at Semassi in his own country.

It was pure delight and a cruise when Habeeb Okikiola, alias Portable, recently met with Togolese international and soccer legend Emmanuel Adebayor.

The Zazuu Crooner uploaded a video to Instagram on Thursday showing him hanging out with Adebayor and other friends at the former footballer’s home in Togo.

In the video, Portable was seen praising the former Manchester City and Arsenal player while the latter referred to him as a “trouble maker” and laughed at the singer’s distinctive slang.

Portable made sure to note that his grace, that had been working with him from Nigeria, had followed him to see Adebayor.

He also dropped his popular slangs and even got the footballer to raise his shoulders, something he calls ‘kala’.

Captioning the video, he wrote;

In another post, the “Azaman” crooner was seen teaching the Footballer how to do his signature Zazuu post while hailing him.

He wrote captioning the video;
