The outspoken “Jaga Jaga” crooner made the comments while addressing a gathering in Edo State, where he openly criticised the president’s response and what he described as a lack of genuine engagement with victims.

His reaction comes amid growing public debate surrounding the president’s visit to Plateau State, particularly the decision to limit movements to the airport area rather than meeting affected communities directly.

During his speech, Abdulkareem did not mince words as he vented his frustration, drawing loud reactions from the audience.

He said:

“Tinubu is the worst president. Anyone supporting APC, may Nigeria happen to you,”

before turning his attention to the controversial visit:

“Commander-in-Chief, wey get all the security go Jos no fit enter town to go console those wey die from terrorist wey him and him government arrange us. Tinubu na biggest fraud. And anybody wey support am, may Nigeria happen to them.”

His comments were met with chants and loud “amen” responses from sections of the crowd, reflecting the charged atmosphere at the event.

Abdulkareem, known for his history of politically conscious music and activism, has often used his platform to challenge government actions. His latest outburst adds to the ongoing national conversation about leadership, security, and accountability in the wake of the Jos attacks.

Nigerian rap legend and social critic Eedris Abdulkareem is once again in the center of public attention, this time over the sudden disappearance of his social media accounts.

The rapper says his Facebook and Instagram pages vanished without warning, barely hours after he released his fiery new track, Open Letter to Donald Trump, on November 30, 2025.

Eedris Abdulkareem’s Social Media Wiped Hours After Fiery Political Diss

According to Eedris, everything seemed normal until the morning after the song dropped. By then, his accounts on both key platforms where he interacts with fans had become completely inaccessible.

A quick search confirmed his claim: his pages were nowhere to be found. Yet, in typical Meta fashion, no official explanation has surfaced about why the accounts were taken down or whether he violated any policy.

Eedris himself offered no details about receiving warnings from Meta. What he did make clear is his suspicion that the timing isn’t coincidental.

His new track, released under Lakreem Entertainment, carries his trademark fearlessness. While the title suggests a message to the U.S. President, Open Letter to Donald Trump is, at its core, another scorching spotlight on Nigeria’s own political dysfunction.

Eedris tears into issues like insecurity, corruption, and the chronic mismanagement of public resources topics he has never been shy to confront.

This isn’t unfamiliar territory for him. Earlier in April 2025, he locked horns with regulators when the National Broadcasting Commission banned his track Tell Your Papa, accusing it of violating broadcast rules. For many fans, this latest ordeal feels like déjà vu—a veteran voice being muffled just as he speaks up again.

Whether Meta’s silence is procedural or political, Eedris Abdulkareem’s supporters are already rallying around him, insisting that his outspoken style has once again made the powers-that-be uncomfortable.

For now, the rapper remains without his digital megaphone, but if his history proves anything, it’s that Eedris won’t be backing down anytime soon.

In a viral video, Eedris paused mid-performance to address the activist’s arrest, asking the audience to raise their phone flashlights and chant “Free VDM” in unison—a call that was met with resounding support from the crowd.

The powerful moment highlighted not just his support for VDM, but also his continued role as a vocal critic of government oppression and censorship.

The outspoken artist, known for his activism since the early 2000s, blasted the government for cracking down on free speech, pointing to the skyrocketing prices of essential goods like rice and internet data as more pressing national issues than censoring voices of dissent.

“Nigerians are not asking for too much,” Eedris said, urging the authorities to focus on meaningful governance instead of silencing critics.

Eedris’ gesture also underscores his ongoing camaraderie with VDM, who had recently defended the artist when his diss track criticizing national leadership was banned from radio and TV. VDM had not only condemned the ban but also offered to fund a remix and appear in the music video, calling out the government for wasting time on censorship.

The incident has further fueled nationwide debates on freedom of expression, with many calling for accountability and justice amid the country’s growing economic and social unrest.

Eedris Abdulkareem is once again turning up the volume on political discourse, teasing the release of a new protest anthem just weeks after his last track, Tell Your Papa, was banned by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

The veteran rapper and activist took to social media on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, sharing an animated cover design bearing the phrase “3 Arms of Government”—a clear nod to Nigeria’s political structure and a likely preview of the song’s bold subject matter.

Though the title of the upcoming track remains a mystery, his simple caption, “Stay tuned,” has sparked widespread anticipation.

Never one to shy away from controversy, Eedris slammed the NBC’s ban of Tell Your Papa, calling it hypocritical and a blatant attempt to silence dissent.

But if anything, the censorship has only fueled his resolve. Known for leveraging music as a tool for activism, Eedris seems poised to deliver another unfiltered critique of the nation’s leadership and systemic failures.

The rapper also doubled down on the enduring relevance of his iconic 2004 protest hit Jaga Jaga, declaring it Nigeria’s “second unofficial national anthem” until critical issues like power supply, security, and governance are genuinely addressed.

With a new protest track looming, both supporters and critics are watching closely, expecting nothing less than another explosive and unapologetic message from one of Nigeria’s most fearless musical voices.

Veteran Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has scored a significant victory in the face of controversy, as his politically charged single “Tell Your Papa” continues to soar in popularity despite a broadcast ban imposed by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

The protest track, which sharply criticizes the administration of President Bola Tinubu, was officially barred from radio and TV airplay on April 10, 2025, for allegedly breaching the Nigerian broadcasting code.

But rather than fading away, the song has gained even more traction, proving once again that censorship often amplifies the message it aims to suppress.

Since the ban, “Tell Your Papa” has seen a dramatic spike in digital engagement:

YouTube views have jumped from 22,754 to over 89,000, with likes rising from 1,200 to 2,800+

On Spotify, the song has crossed 30,000 streams, showing a clear wave of interest from the public

In a statement on Instagram, Eedris reflected on the backlash, comparing the situation to the 2004 ban of his iconic protest song “Jaga Jaga”.

“It’s obvious that in Nigeria, truth and constructive criticism is always deemed a big crime by the government,” he wrote.

The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) responded swiftly, predicting that the NBC’s move would only increase the song’s reach and impact. Their statement pointed to a long history of censorship backfiring in the music industry — turning protest tracks into viral hits.

Adding weight to the resistance, Nobel laureate Professor Wole Soyinka issued a scathing critique of the NBC’s decision. Speaking from New York University, Abu Dhabi, Soyinka denounced the ban as a “dangerous descent into censorship” and an affront to freedom of expression.

In his characteristically ironic tone, Soyinka stated:

“It is not only the allegedly offensive record that should be banned – the musician himself should be proscribed. Next, PMAN, or whatever musical association of which Abdulkareem is a member, should also go under the hammer.”

He emphasized that the issue at hand isn’t just about one song, but about democratic values under threat:

“The ban is a boost to the artist’s nest egg, thanks to free governmental promotion. Mr. Abdulkareem must be currently warbling his merry way all the way to the bank. I envy him.”

Soyinka even admitted he hadn’t listened to the track — yet strongly defended Abdulkareem’s right to express dissent, warning regulators to reverse what he described as “petulant irrationality.”

As “Tell Your Papa” gains momentum, it joins the ranks of Nigerian protest anthems that refuse to be silenced — songs that have historically spoken truth to power and given voice to the frustrations of the people. Whether or not one agrees with Eedris Abdulkareem’s message, his latest release is reigniting crucial conversations about governance, censorship, and artistic freedom in Nigeria.

In a recent interview on Channels Television, the outspoken music icon opened up about the inspiration behind his controversial track “Tell Your Papa”—a politically charged song that has sparked widespread conversations online. Eedris said he was moved to write the song after watching a clip of Seyi Tinubu repeatedly praising his father’s presidency.

“I saw Seyi in a clip calling his father the best president five or six times,” Eedris recounted. “Honestly, Seyi is more impressive when he stays quiet. He should’ve let the MC do the talking. He lacks the presence to address the real issues facing Nigerians.”

Eedris didn’t hold back as he contrasted President Tinubu’s devotion to his family with what he described as negligence toward the nation.

“No one’s saying Tinubu isn’t a good dad — he’s been amazing to Seyi. But what about the millions of Nigerians suffering? He’s empowered his son while leaving the people without food or jobs. That’s the painful truth.”

The interview follows the ban of “Tell Your Papa” by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), which declared the song unfit for public broadcast, citing Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code for promoting content deemed offensive or not in line with public decency.

However, the ban hasn’t stopped the momentum. “Tell Your Papa” remains a trending topic across social media, with Nigerians debating its hard-hitting lyrics and the uncomfortable realities it exposes.

As the track continues to gain online traction, Eedris Abdulkareem stands by his message — using his music as a megaphone for the people and a challenge to those in power.

Veteran Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has reacted to the federal government’s decision to ban his latest protest song, Tell Your Papa, accusing authorities of suppressing free speech and silencing dissent.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) recently issued a directive prohibiting radio and TV stations from airing the politically charged track. The directive cited concerns over its “objectionable content” and alleged breach of broadcast regulations.

In a fiery Instagram post, Abdulkareem decried the ban, calling it yet another attempt to punish those offering constructive criticism. He aimed at President Bola Tinubu’s government, labeling it “insensitive, vindictive, and disastrously incompetent,” accusing it of failing to deliver meaningful progress in key sectors.

The outspoken artist also voiced his discontent with those who continue to support the current administration, referring to them as “happy slaves begging for scraps from their masters.” He expressed his frustration with Nigeria’s ongoing political struggles, citing the same oppressive tactics seen during former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s era when his 2004 anthem Jaga Jaga was also banned.

Abdulkareem concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the ongoing suppression of free speech reflects Nigeria’s long-standing issues with government accountability and the stifling of alternative viewpoints.

Eedris Abdulkareem’s newest protest track, Tell Your Papa, has been blacklisted from Nigeria’s airwaves by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), which claims the song’s political content violates broadcast standards.

In an official memo dated April 9, 2025, the NBC labeled the song “unsuitable for public broadcast,” referencing Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. According to the commission, the lyrics contain “objectionable” material that fails to align with responsible broadcasting values.

“The National Broadcasting Commission has flagged the song ‘Tell Your Papa’ by Eedris Abdulkareem as inappropriate for broadcast,” the directive stated, urging all stations nationwide to avoid airing the track.

Tell Your Papa takes direct aim at Seyi Tinubu, son of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The song confronts Seyi’s public endorsement of his father as “the greatest president in Nigeria’s history” and demands that he acknowledge the everyday suffering of citizens and relay their pain to his father.

The track calls out issues such as economic hardship and national insecurity—sparking both praise and controversy.

This isn’t Abdulkareem’s first tango with censorship. His iconic 2004 track Jaga Jaga, a raw critique of Nigeria’s systemic failures, was similarly banned—earning him both backlash and respect as a fearless voice in Nigerian music.

At the time of this report, neither Eedris Abdulkareem nor Seyi Tinubu has responded publicly to the ban.

As economic hardship and national frustration continue to mount across Nigeria, veteran rapper and activist Eedris Abdulkareem has aimed at Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over recent comments that have stirred public outrage.

Seyi Tinubu triggered a social media storm on Monday, March 17, 2025, after a video surfaced of him addressing a youth gathering in Adamawa State, where he boldly proclaimed his father as “the greatest president in the history of Nigeria.”

In the now-viral clip, Seyi passionately defended his father’s legacy, stating:

“It was never politics, but they keep coming for me, they keep coming for my family, and they keep coming for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu—the greatest president in the history of Nigeria.”

He went further, praising the president for allegedly empowering young people and building an inclusive economy:

“He is the only president that has kept your people at home, from when he was governor to when he became president… the only president that created a platform for young people to fly.”

“The only president that created an economy that has benefitted everybody, the only president that is not trying to enrich his own pocket.”

“It was never politics, but they keep coming for me, they keep coming for my family, they keep coming for your father, they keep coming for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the greatest president in the history of Nigeria.” – Seyi Tinubu. pic.twitter.com/dqeO96zMRl

— Imran Muhammad (@Imranmuhdz) March 17, 2025

But Eedris Abdulkareem wasn’t having it.

In his latest politically charged track, the “Jaga Jaga” crooner launched a scathing response, calling on Seyi to wake up to the harsh realities facing everyday Nigerians.

“Seyi, tell your papa, country hard. Tell your papa, people dey die. Tell your papa, this one don pass jagajaga. Seyi, how far? I swear your papa no try. Too much empty promises. On behalf of Nigerians, take our message to him—kidnappers dey kill Nigerians.”

The veteran artist didn’t stop there. In a direct challenge to Seyi’s privileged lifestyle, Eedris rapped:

“Seyi, try travel by road without your security, make you feel the pain of fellow Nigerians. You dey fly private jets, insecurity no be your problem.”

Eedris Abdulkareem drops (Tell Your Papa) listen and share.https://t.co/MTiPiTQJjH pic.twitter.com/ClhiUrRZSa

— Eedris Abdulkareem (@EedrisOriginal) April 6, 2025

Eedris’s fiery verse echoes the sentiments of many Nigerians who feel increasingly disconnected from their leaders. With inflation, insecurity, and public distrust at all-time highs, his words strike a chord with a population seeking answers—not praise songs.

In the court of public opinion, Eedris has once again taken the mic on behalf of the masses—this time, directing his message straight to the president’s doorstep.

Nigerian rapper MI Abaga has expressed his profound admiration for hip-hop, describing it as the truest art form. In a recent episode of Pulse Fun Fact, the multi-award-winning artist was asked to choose his favorite genre among hip-hop, Afrobeats, and Amapiano.

Without hesitation, MI Abaga selected hip-hop as his favorite genre, placing Afrobeats in second place.

According to MI, hip-hop is the genre that has served as the foundation for many other musical styles. He referred to hip-hop as the deepest art form and described it as the love of his life, highlighting its significance in shaping his musical identity.

Hip-hop holds a significant place in the rich tapestry of Nigerian music history, boasting a cadre of top-class rappers who have left an indelible mark on the industry. Icons such as Eedris Abdulkareem, Ruggedman, Mode 9, M.I, Ice Prince, Naeto C, Dagrin, and Olamide have played pivotal roles in popularizing hip-hop within Nigeria.

In the realm of Afrobeats, hip-hop stands as one of the foundational genres, influencing the early sounds of groups like The Remedies, Trybesmen, and Plantashun Boiz. These pioneering acts drew inspiration from hip-hop elements, infusing them into their music and contributing to the development of Afrobeats as we know it today.

Furthermore, rap music has transcended geographical boundaries, becoming domesticated in various parts of the world. Its influence extends far beyond traditional hip-hop realms, feeding into and shaping a multitude of genres that borrow from its rhythmic and lyrical elements. This cross-pollination has resulted in the evolution of diverse musical styles, showcasing the universal appeal and enduring impact of hip-hop culture worldwide.

A great deal of Nigerians are mired in extreme poverty with unclear futures against a depressing backdrop of economic instability and security issues.

In this new piece by BGweliington featuring industry heavyweights Eedris Abdulkareem, Vector and the late Motherland crooner, Sound Sultan, the spit and hash realities of Nigerians are vehemently addressed.

“Massive Poverty” begins with a somber yet captivating melody, setting the stage for Abdulkareem to step forward with his commanding baritone, delivering impassioned verses that cut deep into the fabric of society.

He queries the status quo, challenging the conditions faced by the young and old alike, confronting the hypocrites and the two-faced individuals within society.

While BGwellington finds his solace in the hook, the song transcends into a more interesting sound when Vector hops in for his verse.

He raises strict questions about the choices made and reflects on the repercussions faced by the populace.

The track serves as both a critique of the current state of affairs and a filtered exposé on the harm inflicted by the present administration.

Accompanied by the song is the official music video which sheds light and gives credence to their wordings.

Watch and enjoy!
