The 2025 summer transfer window will go down in history as one of the most dramatic and expensive periods football has ever seen.

Clubs across Europe splashed unprecedented sums, with total spending reaching a staggering €10.23 billion, a new record.

2025 Summer Transfer Window: Record-Breaking Deals In Football

Unsurprisingly, the Premier League once again dominated the headlines, accounting for more than €3.5 billion of that total.

No club captured attention quite like Liverpool. In what was described as a full-scale squad rebuild, the Reds secured Alexander Isak from Newcastle for a British record of £125 million, surpassing the fee Chelsea paid for Moisés Caicedo in 2023.

The Merseyside giants also added German star Florian Wirtz, striker Hugo Ekitiké, and flying full-back Jeremie Frimpong, making them the undisputed biggest spenders of the window. Despite earning €220 million from player sales, their net spend of €262 million was the second-highest across Europe.

If Liverpool dominated the headlines, Arsenal topped the financial charts. The Gunners invested heavily in attacking reinforcements, bringing in Viktor Gyökeres and Eberechi Eze, among others, while spending a total of €293.5m. With only €10.3m recouped in sales, they closed the window with the highest net spend of all clubs at €283.2m.

Manchester United also strengthened their front line, completing deals for Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha. Chelsea, meanwhile, added João Pedro to their ranks but sanctioned a major outgoing as Nicolas Jackson joined Bayern Munich on a high-profile loan with an obligation to buy.

The Blues were once again Europe’s most successful sellers, generating €332m in player sales, over €100m more than any other club. Their standout departure was Noni Madueke, who sealed a €56m move to Arsenal.

The surprises weren’t limited to England. Liverpool captain Trent Alexander-Arnold left Anfield for Real Madrid, a move that stunned supporters and pundits alike. In Turkey, Victor Osimhen pulled off one of the most unexpected switches of the window, leaving Napoli for Galatasaray in a deal worth around €65m.

Meanwhile, newly promoted Sunderland made waves by spending €160m to bolster their squad. Their shopping list included striker Brian Brobbey and experienced midfielder Granit Xhaka, signaling serious intent to compete at the highest level.

The 2025 transfer market will be remembered not just for its eye-watering figures but for the boldness of the moves made. The three most expensive signings of the summer all belonged to Liverpool: Isak, Wirtz, and Ekitiké, underscoring the club’s ambition to remain at Europe’s summit.

Elsewhere, Arsenal’s financial gamble, Chelsea’s sales dominance, and the shock departures of household names like Alexander-Arnold and Osimhen highlighted the increasingly unpredictable nature of modern football.

As the dust settles, one thing is clear: the 2025/26 season is shaping up to be as dramatic on the pitch as it was off it.

Arsenal have officially announced the capture of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, edging out fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur to land the highly-rated midfielder.

The North London giants paid an initial £60 million for the England international, with a further £7.5 million potentially due in add-ons.

Interestingly, Eze’s move to Arsenal marks a full-circle moment. Released by the Gunners at just 13 years old, he now returns to the Emirates 14 years later as one of the Premier League’s most exciting creative talents.

The 27-year-old becomes Arsenal’s seventh addition of the summer, joining Martin Zubimendi, Viktor Gyökeres, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Nørgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Manager Mikel Arteta could not hide his excitement over the signing. Speaking to the club’s media team, he said:

“We are absolutely delighted to bring Eberechi to Arsenal. He is a powerful and exciting player who will give us a new dimension in our attacking game. What stands out just as much as his talent and intelligence as a player, is the way he has worked hard throughout his career to get where he is today.

His journey, his mentality, and his ambition are exactly what we want in our team, and we love how much it means to him and his family to be joining our club. We all look forward to start working with Eberechi soon.”

Eze was unveiled as a Gunner ahead of their Premier League fixture against newly-promoted Leeds United on Saturday, where he greeted the Emirates crowd with a wide smile while holding the iconic No. 10 shirt.

His competitive debut could come as early as August 31, when Arsenal travel to Anfield for a blockbuster clash against Liverpool. Supporters at the Emirates will likely get their first home glimpse of him in red and white on September 13, when Arsenal host Nottingham Forest.

Arsenal have reportedly secured the signing of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, with a verbal agreement now in place between all parties involved. The Gunners have successfully fended off strong interest from north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to land the highly sought-after attacking midfielder.

The deal, which will see Crystal Palace receive a package worth over £60 million, marks a major statement of intent from Arsenal as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the new season. Eze, who has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League over the past two seasons, is said to have preferred a move to the Emirates Stadium over a potential switch to Spurs.

Negotiations have been ongoing for several days, with Arsenal holding advanced talks as they pushed to finalize the deal. Despite Tottenham‘s late efforts to hijack the move, they were ultimately unable to sway the player, who had already set his sights on joining Mikel Arteta’s side.

Eze’s arrival will add creativity, flair, and versatility to Arsenal’s midfield and attacking options. Known for his dribbling, composure on the ball, and ability to unlock defenses, Eze is expected to slot into a system that suits his playing style, offering Arteta another dynamic option in the final third. His ability to operate both as an attacking midfielder and from wide positions makes him a valuable asset for a team competing on multiple fronts.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, are set to receive a significant fee, allowing them room to reinvest and reshape their squad. While losing a player of Eze’s caliber is undoubtedly a blow, the financial gain could support their long-term planning.

Arsenal fans will be thrilled with the acquisition, as the club continues to show ambition in the transfer market. Eze’s choice to join Arsenal over Tottenham not only strengthens their squad but also highlights the growing appeal of Arteta’s project, which has seen consistent improvement over the last few seasons.

With a verbal agreement now in place, all that remains is for the deal to be finalized officially, but all signs point to Eze becoming Arsenal’s latest marquee signing.
