Since the passing of his close friend, rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, better known to fans as AKA, creative director, DJ, and fashion designer Don Design — real name Tshediso Mokoko — has appeared to struggle. However, as of late, he has shared with his Instagram followers how he has managed to remain composed during his period of mourning.

Don was held responsible by many of AKA’s fans for allegedly being an accomplice in the fatal shooting of the adored late South African musician after CCTV footage of Don in what many online viewers claimed to be suspicious behaviour after the death of AKA on Florida Road, outside Wish Restaurant in Durban, on February 10, surfaced.

Don has had his head underwater ever since AKA’s funeral, but suddenly it seems like he’s ready to pick up the pieces and resume his life.

On Wednesday, Don uploaded a photo of himself to his Instagram account with the message, “A step at a time”.

He has reportedly resumed work and returned to the club scene, according to his social media.

According to Tony Forbes, Don Design, the closest friend of Tony Forbes’ son AKA, gave him a poignant gift after the rapper passed away in February.

AKA, real name Kiernan Forbes, died just over two months ago, and his father, Tony, is finding comfort in people who knew the late performer well. The rapper’s closest family members were daughter Kairo Forbes, best buddy Don Design, and girlfriend Nadia Nakai.

In an interview with You Magazine, Forbes and Lynn Forbes, AKA’s parents, discussed their feelings following their son’s sad death.

AKA and his companion Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were shot and killed in February in Durban by a person who remains unidentified.

Tony Forbes admitted that he has been hanging out with his son’s friends more since AKA’s passing.

The Cape Town-based father-of-three has also been seen hanging out with AKA’s girlfriend Nadia Nakai, baby’s mother Zinhle Jiyane, and his granddaughter Kairo Forbes. Lynn and Tony are still friends even though they are divorced.

“I feel closer to him through them,” he told the publication.

Tony said that Don Design, one of AKA’s closest friends, had given him a unique present. It was a bracelet with the words “Long Live Supa Mega, Live Long” written on it. Forbes, Kiernan Jarryd.

Meanwhile, the bracelet also features the AKA logo, the year of his birth, and an infinity sign.

The “blended” family has shared pictures on social media of their quality time together.

After the passing of his best friend AKA, Don Design opened up on his birthday about experiencing cyberbullying and receiving death threats.

AKA’s murder took place two long months ago. Additionally, his closest friend Don Design celebrates his birthday today. However, the DJ claims that there is nothing to rejoice about.

The singer even goes so far as to say that it was the “worst birthday ever.”

The rapper was shot and killed by an unidentified assailant in Durban back in February, and the DJ and others watched helplessly.

Since then, the public has widely criticised the Jozi hitmaker for his behaviour as seen on CCTV evidence just before the shooting.

Don Design opened up about experiencing cyberbullying and receiving death threats on his birthday, April 10. The murder of AKA outside Wish On Florida had been two months ago to the day. Apparently disclosing his whereabouts on his Instagram Stories led to this.

Don sent his fans a sorrowful birthday message on his personal Instagram account.

Another year spent orbiting the sun—this is the worst birthday ever, he wrote. ranging from death threats to daily assassination attempts on my character on all social media platforms.”

He continued: “I still have to wake up in the morning to work and be able to provide for my family. None of this makes sense”.

Don subsequently sent a message to his “fake” companions. I don’t need any of you false people keeping an eye on me, he continued. My family and I are receiving assistance. None of you can imagine half the crap I have to go through.

A week after admitting that he is still in mourning over the passing of AKA, actual name Kiernan Forbes, Don Design posted a blog entry about it.

Don confessed his renewed sadness in his Instagram Story. He uploaded a photo of himself and AKA along with the message, “Miss you dawg.”

Days prior, Don honoured the late Costa Titch and AKA with a video tribute of one of their final concerts.

Don Design finally speaks out after his friend AKA’s passing, Don was one of the select few that was with the rapper in his final moments on the night he was shot and died.

Don Design came to social media to pay respect to his friend after the rapper’s successful memorial and funeral service.

“My heart is shattered and the past couple of days have been nothing short of surreal. I am writing this with great difficulty, trying to put into words what you really meant to me. I would never have imagined that I would be putting together such a message,” he wrote.

“I keep thinking about all the moments we shared and replaying our memories together. I wish I had one last chance to thank you for showing me what the true meaning of brotherhood is. I am indebted to you for believing in me, believing in my dreams and aspirational visions, especially in moments where I lacked such belief.”

Meanwhile, Nota, who was served with a lawsuit, apologises disrespectfully. The loss of a loved one can cause emotions to run high, which may result in people saying the wrong thing at the wrong time.

AKA’s Family Lawyer Stands for Don Design. Since the terrible shooting death of South African hip-hop musician AKA, it has become practically impossible to browse social media without seeing video footage of the rapper’s shooting.

Nevertheless, it didn’t take long for social media investigators to zero in on Don Design, AKA’s friend and colleague, who was visible on security camera footage from outside the restaurant immediately before AKA was shot and killed.

Don Design can be seen going up and down near the white Hyundai H1 minibus in the CCTV clip. Investigators on social media claimed that his actions and hand gestures seemed strange, with some speculating that he was working with the shooters.

Rudolph Baloyi, AKA’s family lawyer, said in an interview with Afrika Newsroom that everyone is seeking explanations and that he is aware of the allegations made against AKA’s friend Don Design.

He also stated that “At the end of the day everybody is looking for answers, even though some of Kiernan’s close friends have now received a lot of blame, there are many people analysing the videos. I have seen a lot of comments about Don Design who is Kiernan’s DJ who he travelled with almost everywhere,”.

According to Baloyi, Don Design should not be held accountable for the murder of AKA since he is not that kind of person.

He added that“I’ve spoken to him last night and I spoke to him yesterday he was also at the house. So you know people are blaming him for this thing but then we all know that Don Design is not that type of a person. He is almost like a child to the Forbes that’s why he is welcome at the house and no one is pointing any fingers at him,”.

Don Design has received support from AKA’s family in addition to Da L.E.S, a close professional friend of AKA, who defended the well-known hip-hop DJ on Twitter.

Da L.E.S tweeted that “Please leave @dondesign alone. He had nothing to do with this. He’s always had Kiernan’s back and side from beginning till end. He’d never do anything to hurt him. He’s been through enough! LEAVE HIM ALONE HE NEEDS TO HEAL! We all do,”.
