Nigerian on-air personality Do2dtun has criticized South African singer Tyla over her acceptance speech at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) after winning the Best Afrobeats Award.

On September 12, 2024, Do2dtun took to Instagram to express his displeasure with Tyla’s remarks during her acceptance speech, where she emphasized the diversity of African music beyond Afrobeats. The OAP felt that her comment downplayed Afrobeats’ significance, especially during a moment meant to celebrate the genre’s global success.

He wrote, “Aunty @tyla aka am not Afrobeats, I am Amapiano. We have heard you but your song “Water” isn’t amapiano either. If you thought you were categorized in a wrong category, you should have given the award back or denounced the nomination. You clearly took an award that didn’t represent you or your sound from that statement you made.”

Do2dtun finds it perplexing that Nigerian celebrities are now demanding payment in dollars within their own country, where the majority of their fans do not earn in dollars.

On-air personality Kayode Oladotun, also known as Do2dtun, has been ordered by a Chief District Court in the Federal Capital Territory’s Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, to refrain from posting defamatory posts against musician Oladapo Oyebanjo, also known as D’banj, on social media or any other platform.

On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, the court, His Honor Emmanuel Iyanna, granted the injunction in the matter involving Motion No. MN/218/2023.

Toheeb Lawal of the Abuja-based legal company Law Corridor, representing D’banj, submitted a request for an injunction prohibiting Do2dtun from making nasty and defamatory remarks about him on social media to the court.

In granting the application, which has D’banj as the complainant and Do2dtun as the respondent, Iyanna granted “an order restraining the defendant (Do2dtun) either by himself, servants, privies, cohorts, representatives, or any person deriving authority from him from further making any malicious, intimidating or defamatory post directing at the complainant (D’banj) on any social media platform (X, Instagram, etc) or news media pending the hearing and determination of the substantive case”.

Additionally, the court mandated that the Force Intelligence Bureau’s Deputy Inspector of Police look into a criminal complaint filed by D’banj against Do2dtun and submit a report to the court in a fortnight.

Do2dtun had been attacking D’banj on social media for several weeks. The OAP wed Taiwo, D’banj’s sister, in 2013, and the couple had two daughters.

But in November 2021, Taiwo filed for divorce from Do2dtun, citing “unending reckless emotional abuse, forced abortion, and vicious domestic violence,” in Court 23, High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Suit Number: GWD/PET/25/2021. Taiwo claimed that Do2dtun’s actions had a negative impact on her general health and well-being.

Do2dtun recently claimed that he was denied access to his daughter, but Taiwo refuted her ex-husband’s claim.

She stated that the entertainer has access to their children, despite what her ex-husband claimed regarding child custody.

Taiwo described her experiences in the marriage, including emotional and physical abuse, and how Do2dtun took her to a hospital where she was forced to have a five-month pregnancy aborted.

D’banj was taken into custody and detained on Tuesday of last week after ICPC agents surrounded him and forced him to turn himself in at the organization’s headquarters in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.

After spending over 72 hours in jail, the illustrious singer was freed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Currently, Do2dtun has taken to social media to make a promise to expose all of the musician and his family members’ lies.

According to the father of two, he had been quiet for the past two years, but not anymore.

Nigerian afrobeat star Anthony Victor professionally known as Victony was one of the guests at the Clout Talk Concert where he discussed the aftermath of his accident and how he felt after.

The video was shared via Youtube on Tuesday, the 14th of December 2021.

Recall, Mp3bullet.ng reported that the accident involving Victony and his friends occurred during the early hours of the 26th of April.

While one of the occupants of the car, Doyin lost his life in the mishap, others including Victony survived. However, the singer was severely injured and had to undergo surgery.

To support his point, he stated that in this day and age, if an upcoming artist produces a song and strives to acquire a million streams for that song, the act would earn a total of $7,500 on Apple Music.

However, you will earn $5,500 if a million streams are on Spotify. As a result, an independent musician with those kinds of streams is already generating money.

Recall that in the early hours of November 26, 2021, Nigerian star, Rema, took to his Twitter page to express displeasure at the release of a DJ Neptune record, which features him.

Around the same time, the star DJ and emPawa frontliner had released his sophomore studio album, Greatness 2.0. On it, a track titled ‘For You‘ features the MAVIN/Jonzing act.

According to Rema, the song titled “For You’ was added to the album without his permission and knowledge. Adding that he and Neptune haven’t spoken in a while.

He also made demands for the song to be removed.

Media personality, Do2dtun took to Twitter to chastise Rema over the calling out, telling that he needed to find a better approach on this kind of issue.

He also that when Rema and Neptune recorded the song, nobody was there and therefore he should have sent his grievances to Neptune’s representatives.

He wrote;

“I love Rema alot. I hosted his first ever listening. He just needs to find a better approach on things like this. You all recorded this together, we were not there. He also needs to address things with his representatives. Trust me, this won’t be more than a mere miscommunication”

Rema in response that they never recorded the song together, nor was he paid for the collaboration.

He also stated that he never signed any documents and neither did the producer ask for his consent before releasing his vocals.
