For a genre not considered in this mainstream space, Mp3bullet.ng decided to take a spin on the Nigerian Electronic music scene with some of its top promoters like Sigag Lauren, Sensei Lo, et al, explaining why it can’t be underrated.

Though unrecognized, Nigerian Electronic music, which blends local elements such as percussion with Western electronic influences, is thriving among a growing and diverse audience.

As NET would have it; “It is an untested territory that no big brand or name has been willing to associate with themselves yet.”

This means it is a less profitable business to engage and with that, labels will find it hard to sign anyone in that line.

Now, balling down to the reality of Electronic music otherwise known as Electronic Dance Music (EDM) in Nigeria, a good number of young talented Nigerians have put in their best to promote this style of sound in whatever ways they can.

Sigag Lauren

Categorically, Sigag, an indigene of Bayelsa State and sensational producer is the leading protege of this genre in Nigeria.

He started gaining momentum by dropping remixes of top artistes songs like; Johnny Drille’s ‘Wait For Me’ and Simi’s ‘Smile For Me’.

Then, he furthered his with his lead single in 2018 titled, ‘Party Nights’ featuring Deborah.

Sensei Lo (Nigerian electronic Music)

Being a full-time nurse, DJ, and music producer, Sensei Lo is another strong contender in the promotion of this art.

The 34-year-old Cleopatra started off with a feature on Electronic Music Began In Africa project by Moto Kiatu for the track, ‘Yele.’

Then, she proceeded in playing for various shows and events. Having become a doyen in the EDM space, Sensei decided to focus on expanding its relevance.

 Maze X Mxtreme

This beautiful combo as producers took it upon themselves to think outside the box in making a change to the “common Afro sound.”

According to them, they have always loved the Afro vibe, however, it was too common and was not diverse.

Further elaborating their choice of sound, they were inspired by David Guetta’s Titanium melody and how it could capture thousands!!!

Considering it a “virgin area in the industry”, they have taken it upon themselves to sell the EDM potentials to the world.

CALIX (Nigerian Electronic music)

Young and energetic, Calix started off as a DJ in school, then got fed up with playing the same sound.

In his interview with NET, he explains that he heard a song on a radio played by DJ TTB, got curious, fell in love with it, then started researching.

The 27-year-old’s positivity about electronic music has been spelled out over time and he is assured that, by changing the song’s percussion by infusing African sounds while maintaining the electronic vibes, the tune will be appealing to a global audience.

Tropical Kenny

Next is Tropical who got his inspiration from Sigag Lauren. Respectively, that was the push he needed to understand that Electronic music isn’t “rocket science” and can be done.

Neutron Inv.

Further, Neutron, whose source of inspiration was from David Guetta’s ‘Titanium’ song. He became obsessed and developed a love for any sound like it.

Since then, it has become a major thing for this youngster to promote this music style.

As a matter of fact, there is a host of others who has devoted their time to the growth of this genre. Examples of such persons are;

Jamie Black, Rhoseus, DysleX, D3AN, Weird Tyler, Beyo Jr, and many more!

In conclusion, with the likes of Sigag on this new invention, consistency, patience, and perseverance will take a toll on this sound and the desired results would be evident!
