Nigerian disk jockey Nonso Temisan Ajufo, popularly known as DJ Big N, was recently shot during a robbery in South Africa.

In an Instagram post dated January 21, 2025, DJ Big N recounted the harrowing experience, revealing that he was attacked near a traffic light while out with an acquaintance.

He explained that on January 12, 2025, he had gone to a lounge in Johannesburg with friends. Later in the evening, he visited another club with an acquaintance. While en route, their car was ambushed at a traffic light by two vehicles carrying six armed men.

His words read…

“On Sunday, January 12th, a night out turned into both the worst and most teachable experience of my life. I went out with with some friends to a fancy lounge in Johannesburg, SA.From there I decided to head to another club with another acquaintance . On the way, at a traffic light, we were ambushed by two cars carrying six armed men with automatic rifles.

In the chaos, I tried to escape but got shot in the leg. One of the robbers put the rifle to my head and demanded my watch, which I struggled to remove, along with my chain and other jewelry. Bleeding heavily, I managed to get back to the car, and the driver rushed me to the nearest hospital. The bullet had passed through my leg, narrowly missing a major artery and bone. Doctors described this as miraculous, calling me “lucky.” I credit my survival to divine intervention and my mother’s prayers.

The experience changed my perspective on life. I lost over $114k worth of valuables that day, but I realized material possessions mean nothing. Life is fragile, and validation is meaningless. God gave me another chance, and I’m committed to living more authentically and appreciating life without unnecessary stress.

This event restored my focus and reminded me of what truly matters. I am Nonso Temisan Ajufo, also known as Big N, and this is my truth.

I met so many wonderful people in SA, and went to so many beautiful places…. and like any other country, there would be bad eggs that paint the nation bad.

The number of kidnappers entering Lagos State has become an issue, according to well-known disc jockey Nonso Temisan Ajufo, better known by his stage name, DJ Big N.

While declaring that he can “categorically” guarantee that kidnappers are now in the state, the official Disc Jockey for Mavin Records sent out a security advisory to locals.

In light of the recent spike in kidnappings, DJ Big N asked locals to exercise caution, move in groups, and stand by one another.

He wrote; “I repeat, please be very vigilant of your surroundings. Especially while driving or walking in Lagos. I can categorically tell you that kidnappers are now in Lagos.

Walk in groups. And make sure your car doors are pinned down. Protect yourself and your loved ones.”

Chapter X, the all-star album from Mavin Records, now has a tracklist that has been officially released.

The tracklist for the upcoming Chapter X album by the Mavin all-stars was announced on Twitter by Mavin Records signee Johnny Drille on Wednesday, November 30. The album contains 10 songs, including “Overloading” and “Won Da Mo,” two previously released singles.

Chaper X, which features all Mavin performers, is set to be released on December 2. Don Jazzy, Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Ladipoe, Johnny Drille, Magixx, Boy Spyce, Bayanni, and DJ Big N are all featured on it.

To mark its tenth anniversary, Mavin Records has announced a single, an album, and an all-star concert.

The label took to its official Instagram page to make a special announcement for fans of its artists.

The announcement came with the picture of its main members like Don Jazzy, Rema, Ayra Starr, DJ Big N, Ladipoe, Magixx, Crayon, Johnny Drille, Boy Spyce, and Bayanni.

In the caption, the label revealed that it would be dropping a single on the 2nd of November followed by a compilation album on the 2nd of December and an all star-concert organized by Livespot on the 16th of December.

Nigerian music executive, Michael Collins Ajereh, known professionally as Don Jazzy, has revealed to one of his Mavin members Johnny Drille how his mom’s burial helped him reconnect with friends.

He has jokingly said that his friends do not check up on him even though he is in mourning.

Recall, The Mavin Records boss recently held the funeral ceremony for his mother, Mrs Ajereh, who died a few months ago. Many celebrities, from actors to musicians and even Big Brother Naija stars were in attendance including artists signed to Mavin Records.

However, during a conversation with Johnny Drille and DJ Big N in the studio, Jazzy said that he realised during the burial preparations that he’s not been in contact with many of his friends.

He claimed that as he was making a list of guests, it occurred to him that they hadn’t spoken to one another in a while.

Drille said that sometimes because they often post on social media and see each other’s comments, they assume that they have been in touch.

The chat was happening as they were set to record a song, so Don Baba J added that he also came to the realisation that ‘nobody really dey for you’.

Don Jazzy, a prominent music executive in Nigeria, may have entered Nollywood because he recently secured a new part in an upcoming movie.

The owner of the Mavin record label described himself as “the movie star incoming” in a statement after joining the cast of “Finding A Kuju,” the follow-up to the movie “The Kujus.”

Sharing the good news, the Mavin boss wrote:

“Donjazzy the movie star incoming… hehe No, this isn’t the set of your favourite 90’s band- it’s The Award-winning Kuju Clan like you’ve never seen them before They’re back, bigger and with much more drama than ever!
