Here’s another throwback Thursday, and we have decided to take you overseas with one of our legendary rappers.

Thursdays are for a throwback, thus we have decided to share 10 throwback songs from American rapper, Eminem.

Eminem’s career in the music industry can be dated as far back 1997, and still holds a solid career with over 23 years of relevance.

His global success and acclaimed works are widely regarded as having broken racial barriers for the acceptance of white rappers in popular music.

It is safe to say he is the first successful white rapper and a legend whose legacy is outstanding in the black-dominated genre.

Stan ft. Dido

Undoubtedly, this is one of my favorite songs the rapper has produced. Here, Eminem features British singer Dido.

It was released in October 2000 as the third single from Eminem’s third album The Marshall Mathers LP (2000).

Uniquely, it topped the top spot in 12 countries’ charts upon its release. As a matter of fact, the brilliance displayed in the lyrics of the song cannot be overemphasized. Shady took the world to another level of music creativity. Also, talk of the video, it’s topnotch!

Mocking Bird

Another song that certainly makes my day is Mocking Bird. Well, this is a song from his fifth studio album Encore (2004).

The song is another that addresses Eminem’s relationship with his daughter Hailie Jade, his adopted daughter Alaina and his relationship with his wife Kim.

It peaked at number eleven on the Billboard Hot 100, and number four in the United Kingdom. Also, it got a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance.

Lose Yourself

This is a song from the soundtrack to Eminem’s 2002 motion picture “8 Mile“. The song’s lyrics explicitly sum up the background of Eminem’s character in 8 Mile, B-Rabbit, with the first verse summing up much of the plot of the movie.

“Lose Yourself” was a commercial success, becoming Eminem’s first Billboard Hot 100 number-one single and remaining there for twelve consecutive weeks.

Another achievable thing about this song is the fact that it was the first hip hop song to receive the award, and also won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Solo Performance.

Not Afraid

Again, this is another track that makes me appreciates Shady more. Its from his seventh studio album Recovery (2010) and was released as the album’s lead single on April 29, 2010, by Interscope Records.

“Not Afraid” was first revealed as a single by Eminem via Twitter, after which the song debuted on the radio.

No Love

This is a combination of two talented artistes and rappers. Eminem features Lil Wayne in delivering this forever rap greatness.

It was released as the third official single from his seventh studio album “Recovery“. And it was produced by American hip-hop record producer Just Blaze.

With Wayne taking the first verse and dropping bars like never before, Em takes it upon himself to finalize with his hard vocals.

When you listen to this track, you’d certainly appreciate having these gurus in our generation!

The Monster ft. Rihanna

Slim teams up with Riri as they gift their fans an unforgettable memory with their fourth collaboration, “The Monster“.

This is following “Love the Way You Lie” (2010), its sequel “Love the Way You Lie (Part II)” (2010), and “Numb” (2012).

Constructively they are one of the best combos to deliver content together.

Love The Way You Lie ft. Rihanna

On May 27, 2010, Eminem revealed the title of “Love the Way You Lie” as part of the tracklist of his seventh studio album Recovery. Also, he features Rihanna as they both produce this mid-tempo hip-hop track.

In addition, the song won many awards and received five Grammy nominations!

Here’s another throwback from Eminem songs that hits our top 10 list. The combo from the duo is something you would love.

Beautiful

“Beautiful” is the fourth and final single from American rapper Eminem’s sixth studio album Relapse, and was released on August 11, 2009.

As a matter of fact, this song scored Eminem his ninth straight Top 40 single on the Billboard Hot 100.

On a personal note, this is one of my favourites and it must not fail to be part of Eminem’s top 10 throwback songs.

From the beat to the vocals, the tempo, the lyrically meaning, all of it is an inspiration to know how beautiful you are.

Rap God

Here comes the game-changing track Slim dropped in 2013. Comparatively, this song sees a different style of Eminem that got the whole world wowed!

Slim released it as the third single from his eight eighth studio album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

Rap God proved beyond words that indeed he is a king in this game as the song entered the Guinness World Records as the hit single that contains the most words; it has 1,560 words!

When I’m Gone

When I’m Gone” is a song by American rapper Eminem from his first greatest hits compilation album Curtain Call: The Hits (2005).

It was released on December 6, 2005, the same day as the album was released, as the lead single.

On the other hand, the song charted at number eight on the United States Billboard Hot 100
