East Africa’s influence is felt through Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz, who crosses the 100-award mark with 101 honours, highlighting his impact beyond the region.
Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has showered praise on some of Africa’s brightest musical exports, singling out Ayra Starr, Tems, and Tanzanian icon Diamond Platnumz as artists she deeply admires.

In a recent sit-down with Hot 97 FM, the singer spoke with unfiltered excitement about her younger colleagues. “I love Ayra jeezzz, it’s almost an obsession,” Tiwa admitted, applauding the rising star’s energy and vibrant sound.

She went on to commend Tems, whose enigmatic persona and distinctive voice have helped her carve a global reputation. “I love the mystery behind Tems,” Tiwa said, highlighting the uniqueness that sets her apart on the international stage.

The admiration wasn’t limited to Nigeria. Tiwa also praised Diamond Platnumz, describing the Tanzanian hitmaker as a continental force. “I love Diamond from Tanzania,” she stated, acknowledging his impact and enduring star power across East Africa.

Her words are being seen as both an endorsement and a symbolic gesture of unity, with one of Afrobeats’ most established voices celebrating the new generation steering African music’s global rise.

“I love Ayra jeezzz, it’s almost an obsession…I love the mystery behind Tems. I love Diamond from Tanzania…”

But the interview also touched on a more personal note. Tiwa revisited the trauma she endured when a private video of her was leaked in 2021. Beyond the betrayal of trust, she said the public’s reaction was particularly painful.

“I was bashed for that video… A lot of people think that I was just trying to get sympathy. Not just regular people, people with platforms were quite horrible and blamed me,” she recalled.

Instead of empathy, Tiwa explained, she was vilified and accused of chasing clout. “I don’t know how they couldn’t see that I was a victim in this. People said I was doing it to be relevant. If I were doing that, I’d have used better lighting, lingerie, and my facial expressions would have been on point. I would have been intentional about it,” she added.

The full interview, now trending online, provides rare insight into Tiwa Savage’s dual role as both a trailblazer and a survivor proud of the new wave of African talent while still grappling with the scars of public scrutiny.

Additionally, American Grammy-nominated group One Republic is set to appear on the album following their surprising collaboration with Kcee on another remix of “Ojapiano.”

“Mr. Versatile” marks KCee’s sixth album in a career spanning nearly two decades, featuring several notable hit songs. Throughout his illustrious career, KCee has collaborated with several Nigerian heavyweights, including Wizkid, Don Jazzy, Davido, and Flavour.

His hit songs, such as “Pull Over” featuring Wizkid and his 2014 smash hit “Limpopo,” are some of the most notable records in Nigerian pop music since 1999.

KCee’s ability to evolve has also seen him explore indigenous Igbo music with the release of the projects “Cultural Praise Vol. 1 & 2.”

His sensational mainstream comeback in 2023 with the release of “Ojapiano” combined the South African imported Amapiano genre with Oja, the famous Igbo flute, showcasing his versatility and creativity.

Fans are eagerly anticipating Mr. Versatile, as it promises to be a celebration of KCee’s dynamic musical journey and his continued relevance in the industry.

I have been DMing @davido @diamondplatnumz saying hello, my brother, can we please work on something together. And no one replies. It’s been 5 years now. Every year I send more than 12 messages. So, you are not struggling.”

The Ma Gear hitmaker concluded with a touch of self-mockery, adding, “Ng alone mtase khaya.” Discover the untold story behind Makhadzi’s unanswered collaboration requests with this revealing insight into the challenges faced by artists in the entertainment industry.

It would be recalled that, despite the South African soccer team’s loss in a penalty shoot-out, Nigerian players emerged victorious in the match on Wednesday night. Mzansi expressed both disappointment and admiration for the Bafana boys’ commendable play.

Makhadzi, the talented hitmaker of “Ma Gear,” faced criticism for a linguistic misstep as she commented on Bafana Bafana’s performance in the AFCON semifinal against the Super Eagles.

While Makhadz acknowledged the team’s effort, her choice of words triggered frustration among fans.

Nicki Minaj’s debut performance at Afro Nation Portugal is a highlight, marking a significant milestone for the talented rapper and the event itself. With a groundbreaking career that has reshaped the landscape of US rap and hip-hop since her debut album Pink Friday, Minaj boasts numerous accolades, including nine American Music Awards and twelve BET Awards. She holds the distinction of being the first woman to achieve 100 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Asake’s success story continued as he secured the Male MVP award at the Soundcity MVP Awards in February 2023. His winning streak extended when he clinched the prestigious Best African Artist of the Year award at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in May. Adding to his accolades, Asake took home the 2023 Headies Next Rated award and Album of the Year for “Mr. Money With The Vibe.” Demonstrating his widespread appeal, Asake’s dominance on Spotify was unmistakable, with three of his tracks, including the hit single ‘Lonely at the Top,’ ranking among the top 10 most-streamed songs in Nigeria.

Rema, on the other hand, showcased his remarkable achievements as a nominee in multiple categories at the iHeart Radio Awards, where he garnered five nominations. His impressive nods encompassed Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best New Artist (Pop), Best African Music Artist, and the new category Pop Song of the Year.

Tanzanian sensation Diamond Platnumz has candidly discussed the unexpected and somewhat shocking incident that left fans in disbelief.

In an exclusive interview following the recent cap-snatching incident during his public appearance in Dodoma, Diamond Platnumz shared his perspective on the viral video capturing the moment when a daring fan snatched his iconic Grass HWC Celtics cap from Mitchell & Ness.

Despite being surrounded by heavy security, the Yatapita hitmaker navigated through a lively crowd in his distinctive black outfit and matching green cover-up shirt.

The incident, where a hand swiftly emerged from the throng to grab his coveted cap, led to a brief pause as disappointment marked the artist’s face at the unexpected loss of his possession.

Diamond dove into the emotions of the situation, expressing frustration and issuing instructions to his team to retrieve the cap. He emphasized the sentimental value attached to the stolen item, reflecting the personal significance it held for him.

The incident not only surprised fans but also showcased the artist’s attachment to certain aspects of his identity, as symbolized by the distinctive Grass HWC Celtics cap from Mitchell & Ness.

In a notable statement during the interview, he says, “Onesmo, the cap must be found because it has many memories. Almost all the outfits I brought today go with this cap. How do I wear it now? Onesmo, I don’t want him to come to the hotel; let him find it on his own.”

Absolutely, Diamond Platnumz’s emotional response and his immediate instructions to retrieve the cap offer a deeper understanding of the significant meaning it holds for the artist.

Beyond being a fashion accessory, the cap likely carries sentimental value and might have personal or symbolic associations that make its loss particularly impactful for Diamond Platnumz. This incident gives fans a glimpse into the artist’s attachment to certain items that contribute to his identity and public image.
