The 2022 shooting at the Cubana club featuring the Afrobeats musician Burna Boy is revisited by independent journalist David Hundeyin.

Recall that the musician reportedly made three efforts to bring a lady from the group to his table before getting into a fight with them. Two members of the gang were hurt in the gunfire that followed the dispute at the Cubana club.

A year after the event, David Hundeyin, a contentious journalist, got into a fight with a Burna Boy fan who referred to his investigative journalism as a phoney.

In retaliation, Hundeyin produced an exposé on the singer’s club shooting that revealed details that hadn’t before been made public.

Hundeyin said in a lengthy thread that Burna Boy had a pistol on him during the confrontation and fled the nation when the situation became urgent. He said that after paying off the victims, they signed a gag order prohibiting them from disclosing details or making public comments.

“The images above are of the bullet hole left in the thigh of Irebami Lawrence on the night of June 8, during an altercation with Burna Boy’s posse, as was widely reported. The night started this way.

“…And ended with 2 men getting shot because Burna Boy’s fragile ego couldn’t take no for an answer when he tried 3 times to get another man’s fiancee to come to his table.

“You probably know all this already. What you don’t know is that the victims testified to me that they saw Burna Boy waving a gun during the altercation, along with at least 2 other members of his posse. I recorded these conversations. Here’s the first one

“Here’s the second conversation. I’m sorry if Tomiwa and Irebami didn’t want this out there, but I am tired of Burna Boy’s brain-dead fans casting aspersions on my credibility because they cannot accept that a musician they like is a giant flaming asshole.

Odogwu immediately left the country, and 3 innocent cops were used as scapegoats for a crime they could not have committed (they were not inside the club, and the NPF does not issue Glock 19’s).

Seun Kuti swipes at David Hundeyin following Oxford’s saga

Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti has claimed to have been responsible for the call that led to the sack of journalist, David, Hundeyin by Oxford University.

Hundeyin was terminated from Oxford University in the UK for behavior that was potentially misogynistic, racketeering, and other issues.

According to Cherwell, a weekly student publication produced solely by Oxford University students, Onyeka Nwelue, a Nigerian author, and Hundeyin were dismissed from the institution after organizing a “fraudulent” book premiere for Hundeyin’s most recent book together on Oxford University property.

Further, an alleged report revealed Hundeyin and Nwelue’s exploitation of the university community by asking £20 for admission to African Studies Center activities, which are typically free.

Misogynism and sexism charges were prominent in the behavior that resulted in Hundeyin and Nwelue’s dismissal, which coincided with the fraudulent event for which the institution held them responsible.

A student was quoted as saying, “A key point of concern occurred when a question was asked by an attendee to Hundeyin concerning the issue of sexism and sexual harassment that African female journalists endure. Hundeyin replied with the implication that women who were of a fair complexion, tall and had long legs would not face hurdles to their career advancement in journalism.”

Taking to his Instagram page, Seun Kuti admitted that he made the call and reported David.

He wrote;

“dem sey dem pursue one journalist with him book comot for Oxford like rat. Yea. I made the call! MeSeun. With my full chest. wetin we take pass small pikin wey dey do anyhow, we dey show am ni. Now you are done in the British intelligentsia space. Fake journalists.”
