The announcement included heavyweight acts like Offset and DaBaby, as well as emerging talents such as Fivio Foreign, GloRilla, and Sexyy Red.

In addition to solo performances, the evening promises more than just individual acts. BET has plans for a tribute to celebrate So So Def’s 30th anniversary, headlined by Jermaine Dupri and featuring iconic figures like Bow Wow, Da Brat, and Ludacris.

These artists add to the list of top nominees vying for awards, with Cardi B and 21 Savage leading the pack with an impressive 12 nominations each. Meanwhile, Drake follows closely with nine nominations of his own.

In addition, Burna Boy and DJ Khaled secured an impressive seven nominations each, while J. Cole earned six nominations.

Nigerian Award-winning artist, David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed why he stopped wearing western clothes to perform on stage.

The DMW boss speaks about this during his recent interview with Rolling Stone.

He is well-known for his music and motto, “We Rise By Lifting Others.” He recently collaborated with controversial American rapper DaBaby and grew close to him, and has also been notably on his recent tour, wearing nothing but African designers for his performances and appearances.

Speaking about his relationship with DaBaby, He said:

When he came out, people used to always compare us. It was the energy, the eyes. And then funny enough, everybody around DaBaby is African. Everybody. I like his work ethic. I just see a lot of myself in him; the way he carries people along as well.

In response to a question regarding how he manages his friendship with DaBaby in light of DaBaby’s controversy, He Said:

I spoke to him about it too. I’ve been in situations where I’ve said the wrong things and then really understand what I said like two days later. I feel like everybody makes mistakes. I’m not approving or saying what he said was right, but I know sometimes being on stage, you might get carried away. We did speak about it.

When asked if he doesn’t think DaBaby’s words are reflective of his character, Davido said:

I personally don’t, because I know him personally. I haven’t seen him being violent or stuff like that. Sometimes I do see it online, but exactly what I was telling you — everybody’s human and people go through stuff.

Speaking about how lifting others has been affected now that he has children, OBO said:

I’ve had friends that [I’ve] gone all out for and maybe I can’t do as much as I used to do before—reason being, I got children, bro. I can understand where you do so much for some people, and then after a while, they forget…But I can’t use that to punish the rest of the people that I still want to help grow, so I don’t look at it as much of a problem.

Speaking about why he stopped wearing Western clothes to perform, The DMW boss said:

Normally, I be putting in a big budget — It could be thousands, hundreds, crazy on clothes. So this year I was like, ‘Yo, why are we celebrating African music and wearing western clothes? Might as well do the whole package. Let’s give people opportunities.

Speaking about advice he gives to other artistes and closing words about his life, Davido said:

I always tell artists, ‘Always have that home love first. Then, you could take over the world. I get more creative when I’m home. Just even having [my] boys around. It was like, ‘What’s going on in town? What are the new slangs? What’s going on? I’ve been away for three months. Update me.

If you read the story of David in the Bible, he overcame a lot. He wasn’t really projected to be a king, and that’s really how my life story has been. I’m the last born of five kids. I wasn’t the best. I didn’t have the best grades. I wasn’t projected to be successful in high school. My whole life has just been me shocking the world, me shocking people, God blessing me. It’s been a lot of grace in my story.

American Rapper, Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, professionally known as DaBaby, has reciprocated the affection shown to him by Afrobeat musician Davido during his visit to Nigeria last month.

DaBaby recently travelled to Lagos, Nigeria, to collaborate with Davido on a music video.

He appeared to be completely at ease in Nigeria. Davido took him on a tour of the city and even took him to the hood, where he was warmly greeted.

The two performed in Lagos, and the video was taken in a rural (yet bustling) area of the city.

A concerned woman has chastised Davido and American rapper Dababy on social media after their bodyguard assaulted and injured a primary school student.

Recall that, Davido and Dababy took to the streets of Lagos a few days ago to shoot a music video.

The lady, who goes by the Twitter handle @adebola, accused the two musicians’ security team of injuring and neglecting a primary school student while filming the song video.

Making her grievances known on Twitter, she wrote: “I hate to do this but I think it’s high time I speak up regarding the sheer act of negligence, irresponsibility and lawlessness shown by @davido and @DaBabyDaBaby’s security team and escorts on Tuesday, 17th of May, 20th.

“@DaBabyDaBaby and his security team who came to Lagos Island to perform alongside @davido illegally trespassed and forcefully entered into a private school compound, First Love Nursery and Primary School at Kakawa area of Lagos without the permission of the School Proprietor.

“In an attempt to control the crowd that wanted to rush into the school building with them, one of @Dababy’s security team forcefully shut the school gate and in the process injured one of the primary school student in the school premises.

“The young boy, Semiu, was noticed by the security team and was rushed to Onikan General Hospital by the head teacher who was around at the time.

“He was redirected to another centre for scanning where it was that three of his fingers have been fractured as a result of the forceful manner the school gate was closed by @DaBabyDaBaby ‘s security team. He was admitted in the hospital for two days and discharged with a cast.

“On his hands. Since then, the School Proprietor have spent a huge amount of money as a result of this sheer act of negligence and lawlessness by the celebrities security team and would likely spend more in coming weeks.

“I’m bringing this here because I’m sure the celebrities involved might not be aware of these issues save for the highly irresponsible security team and @Davido’s logistic manager.”
