Everything is lined up for a potential collaboration between American musician Childish Gambino and Ghanaian diva Amaarae, after both were captured together in a studio.

Without saying anything, the picture speaks volumes as a fan described the anticipated collaboration, “a dynamic sound for sure”.

Another said, “We’ve seen David guetta and ayra Childish gambino and amaarae Skepta and odumodu stormzy and black sherif At this point afrobeats is the world”

Uniquely, this collaboration is one with so many hit potentials – being a fact that this will be Gambino’s first single with an Afro-sound diva. Amaarae on the other hand has been on the global radar with music collaborations and fashion partnerships.

Recently, she covered Office Magazine For its October issue, partnered American Express to Launch Depop Shop, has her Fountain Album as a worthy contender at the 2024 Grammys amongst others.

Bop Daddy ft Ms Banks.

Released in 2020, Falz shows us his lover boy side on “Bop Daddy”. The song features English based rapper, Ms Banks.

It became a fans’ favorite during the early stage of lockdown as it birthed the “Bop Daddy Challenge”.

<iframe title="Falz - Bop Daddy (Official Video) ft.

This is Nigeria

“This Is Nigeria” is a cover of Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” and was brilliantly done.

The song tackles major issues like religious manipulation, Insecurity, Police Brutality, corruption, and others.

This song earned Falz his first ban from the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission and a legal problem with the Muslim Rights Commission who dragged him for using the Hijab in the video.

Bad, Baddo, Baddest ft Olamide, Davido

Released in 2017 off his “27” album, the song featured Olamide and Davido.

This song also caused controversy thanks to a part of Davido’s verse where he referred to popular Media Personality. Dele Momodu as his boy.

<iframe title="Falz - Bahd Baddo Baddest (Official Video) ft.

Karishika ft Phyno

Borrowed from the iconic Nollywood of the same name, “Kariskika” sees Falz and Phyno go hard at each other with tight and heavy lyrics.

The track also features a comic appearance from comedienne Chigul

<iframe title="Falz - Karishika (Official Video) ft.
Hypocrite ft Demmie Vee

“Everybody is a motherfuckin’ hypocrite” sings Demmie Vee. “Hypocrite” is a commentary on how everyone seems to be the same thing we complain about.

In this song, Falz holds no prisoner as he lays out how people practice hypocrisy unawares.

Something Light ft Ycee

One of my personal favorite from Falz, “Something Light” is a comic song that is easy to rap to.

Featuring Ycee, the song takes a jab at Women who see dates as another feeding venture but still pretend to not like food.

Soldier ft Simi

Falz and Simi will go down in history as one of the best collaboration duos the Nigerian Music Industry saw .

There was this chemistry their music carried that got everyone thinking they were dating (Imagine the shock when it was revealed that Simi was dating Adekunle Gold)

Out of the many songs these two released together, “Soldier” is a favorite. This is more like a play as it tells the story of a Soldier who is trying to woo his love interest who can’t seem to stand him.

The lyrics are funny, lighthearted, and easy to follow.

<iframe title="Falz - Soldier (Official Music Video) ft.

Falz has been pitched to be the new Fela and it’s not hard to see why. With the type of music he releases, Falz spares no breath sharing his take on everything from love, politics, societal values to religious views.

Falz: A Master Storyteller with a great sense of humor

SEE ALSO: Why Falz “Child of the World” Should Be the Song of the Moment

Falz’s breakthrough into the music industry was with the humorous “Marry Me” in which he features Yemi Alade and Ladipoe. The song tells the relatable story of a lady wanting to know when her suitor would marry her.

Falz comes through with his funny but truthful lyrics that tell the story of the couple in question from both the guy and the girl’s perspective.

The rapper/singer has a way with words and telling stories that are relatable is his specialty It is the fusion of comic lyrics with contemporary hip-hop in a faux Yoruba accent, he is the modern-day Malcolm X, at least the softer person.

With five projects to his credits, Falz has touched every aspect of societal issues you can think of. His unique music style might stem from the fact that he is the son of Femi Falana, a renowned Lawyer and activist. Falz is a Lawyer who dropped the profession to pursue music and glad are we he did.

In 2018, Falz dropped a powerful cover of American rapper’s Childish Gambino’s “This is America” which he titled “This is Nigeria”. The song was so powerful in its message that it got banned by the NBC for supposedly containing vulgar language ( we know the real reasons but agenda must agend).

His political views became prominent in his fourth album, “Moral Instructions” where he tackles a variety of issues like Police Brutality, Corruption, Insecurities, Politics, Internet Frauds, and Prostitution.

SEE ALSO: 8 Songs By Nigerian Artists That Address Social Issues

The album features samples from Legendary Afrobeat founder, Fela Kuti. With Johnny as the opening track, he relates the story of a young Nigerian killed by the police for no real reason, a plague Nigerians have been dealing with for a while.

One standout track is “Hypocrites” featuring Demmie Vee where Falz presents his case on why everyone is a hypocrite.

On “Talk”, Falz talks on failed leadership, recycling of political parties, and a number of topics.

While Falz isn’t afraid to address issues most rappers won’t talk about, he is also a lover boy. With creative songs like “Soldier”, one of his best work, “Loving”, “Baby Boy”, “Bop Daddy” amongst others, he shows the ladies that he also knows how to play the game.

Falz’s ability to draw listeners into his songs is the ability to send his lyrics in a clear manner. Then throw in his comic behavior with that faux Yoruba accent, what is there not to love.

SEE ALSO: Jaga Jaga and other Throwback Songs that Tackled the Government

His latest song, “One Trouser” Falz beautifully tells the story of a chaotic Lagos street life. In the song, he shows how a gentle-looking person can become a beast in the next, a common characteristic of a Lagosian. As they say, you must be partly okay and crazy to survive the streets of Lagos.

Falz is truly a phenomenon in the Music Industry, what’s your favorite song from him and why?

Songs get banned for different reasons including explicit lyrics, explicit visuals, or political reasons, amongst others and this is usually done by NBC who is fond of banning Naija songs that are guilty of the crimes mentioned above.

The National Broadcasting Commission is the broadcast regulator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Commission was set up on August 24, 1992, by Decree 38 0f 1992 later amended as an Act of the National assembly by Act 55 of 1999 and now known as National Broadcasting Commission Laws of the Federation 2004, CAP N11 to among other responsibilities, regulate and control the broadcasting industry in Nigeria.

Here are the 5 Naija hit songs that got banned by NBC

Wo – Olamide

This Olamide 2017 hit song, “Wo” was banned by the National Broadcasting Commission a few days after the video was released.

This move came after the Federal Ministry of Health had tweeted that the video violated the ban on Tobacco Advertising, promotion, and sponsorship provision of the act and was a clear violation of Nigeria’s Tobacco Control Act 2015 as it shows ghetto scenes of youths smoking which could encourage second-hand smoking.

Fall – Davido

Davido’s 2017 hit song, “fall” was banned by NBC. The reason for the ban wasn’t clearly stated. The song however is said to one of Davido’s most successful songs as it has raked in millions of streams and International certifications in the US and Canada.

This is Nigeria – Falz

Falz did a cover of Childish Gambino hit song, “This is America” called “This is Nigeria” in 2018. The song received mixed reactions especially the Music video.

In the song, Falz threw shades at every Institution he could think of, from Religious Institutions to Political, Education, no one was safe from his jabs.

The song was banned by the NBC because a scene in the music video had girls dressed in hijabs dancing Zanku. Falz was slammed by the Muslim rights Commission (MURIC) for the scene and the organization demanded he takes down the video.

NBC probably banned the song because of the message Falz was passing through the song.

Living Things – 9ice

9ice dropped “Living Things” in 2017 which was seen as his redemption into the spotlight again but it didn’t take too long for critics to slam the singer for glorifying Internet fraud lifestyle on his song.

While 9ice however denied that fact, it didn’t save him from having his song getting banned by NBC.

Iskaba – DJ Tunez X Wande Coal

“Iskaba” was an instant hit when DJ Tunez and Wande Coal released this song in 2016. However, it was banned for its very vulgar lyrics by NBC.

While this wasn’t clear to most people at first why the song would be banned but it became clear once people began to listen carefully to the lyrics and called it out for objectifying women.

Is Falz and Dice Ailes’ “Alakori” the best afro-hip collaboration in town?

Drake said sometimes ago that his dad told him Pac never tried to sing like Jackson, and MJ never tried to rap like Pac. Everyone did their thing, and in the long run, ain’t that just what preserves the culture?

There’s been a romance of hip-hop and Afrobeat, for quite a while, in the Nigerian music industry. And for what it’s worth, it’s been all good vibes. That is if we forget the times Olamide tried to be Wizkid, and Zanku tried to M.I Abaga, instead of just feature those guys and do a banging collabo.

Versatility is good, but what’s even better? Collaboration from two artists with different genres. In this Afro and hip-hop. Back in the day, guys like the legendary M.I Abaga looked up to singers from across different worlds, RnB, Afro, Soul, High life, all of it, for their hooks. And this has resulted in some really good collaborations.

When Olamide, Wizkid, and others came to limelight, they quickly took that energy to the next level. They were on each other’s debuts, doing stuff. Mostly for the culture, of course. It happened a number of times, and it was all good.

Two guys from the first generation Choc Boys, Ice Prince and Brymo did one of the hottest collaboration between a rapper and a singer, ever. “Oleku” was a big hit, Ice Prince classic bars, and Brymo’s electric evergreen hook. Then there was the Ice Prince collaboration with Wizkid, “No Time”, a viral hit back in ’14. Those hot collaborations are still some of the reasons people still think Icey lost it after quitting rap.

Warri rapper, Yung6ix, blew up with a cover of Ice Prince’s “Oleku” and started doing a mash-up afro and hip-hop. He even said the term “afro-hip” on one of his songs. He’s also collaborated with Davido on “Let Me Know.”

But then it seemed like a new era came when Falz arrived. You’ll never catch him trying to sing his chorus. For what? When there are a whole lot of guys (and ladies) who could do it? So, every song that wasn’t a solo usually came with a banging afrobeat and a badass singer to match. Right from “Celebrity Girlfriend” with Reekado Banks to “Marry Me” with Yemi Alade, down to “Soldier” featuring songstress, Simi. And so on.

Last year, though, Falz the Bahd Guy caught a bug. Obviously from American rapper, Childish Gambino. And he went all Fela Kuti on “This Is Nigeria”, a viral and controversial hit and then continued his campaign about societal issues, on subsequent songs. He started 2019 with “Talk”, and the Moral Instruction album, doing things that were mostly socio-political. It’s like Fela came back, as a rapper.

But all that will be over, right? Falz is an artist, after all, and he has to get back in the booth and do some good vibes everyone would love. He may be angry, but he can definitely be consoled. All he needed was a bang hit track.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BzK4m7eBjWJ/

Did “Alakori” do the magic? You tell me. Falz back in his element, with his charming ‘braggadocio’, rapping full bars about how lit he is and superb singer, Dice Ailes, dropping the chorus of the year. Well, it doesn’t get better than that, as far as collaborations go, these days.

The beat which is the basic new school afro-beat had some good kicks and fits Falz‘s bouncing bars perfectly. Dice Ailes did justice to it, too. Really nice. Given some standards, it is one of a kind, and a jam-like “Alakori” is definitely gold!

Childish Gambino drops first single since “Awaken, My Love!”

We’re sure this was no coincidence. Just a few weeks after Cardi B made use of the Saturday Night Live stage to confirm buzzing pregnancy rumors and set the Internet ablaze, Donald Glover has made use of his evening as both host and musical guest as Childish Gambino, on the season opener of the sketch comedy show to drop off his newest offering since delivering on his Grammy-nominated Awaken, My Love! effort, save for the digital re-release of his first EP back in January.

First premiered through a live performance on SNL, the new track “This Is America” arrives packaged in a cinematic clip directed by Hiro Murai. While we’re initially greeted by a melodic introduction reminiscent of the more soulful sound adopted in his last project, we’re quickly hit with a change of pace as he reverts back to the form with which earlier fans are familiar, rapping over the backdrop, crafted by Doomsday with Ibra Ake and Fam Rothstein of Wolf + Rothstein.

While the clip seems to take on a more upbeat pace, once the smoke clears Gambino’s stance aligns itself with a fairly bleak and satirical look at all the vices that frankly “make America great.”

If this new cut is indicative of shift in content for Childish Gambino, we’re certainly not mad at it. “This Is America” finds itself in the company of a host of one-off songs and full-length outings from his contemporaries directly challenging the way of life in the United States, specifically as it relates to the experiences of Black Americans. This one just may go over a few heads, but the best things always do.

[Intro]

They’re extremely poor
And the medical facilities are poor
We operate a predictory neo-colonial capitalist system
Which is founded on fraud and exploitation
And therefore, you are bound to have corrupt institutionalists
Many criminal cases are settled in police stations, albeit illegal

[Hook]

Eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh ewo oh
Eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh ewo oh
Eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh ewo oh

[Chorus]

This is nigeria
Look how am living nah
Look how am living nah
Everybody be criminal
This is nigeria
Look how we’ living nah
Look what we’ eating nah
Everybody be criminal

[Verse 1]

To see if my watch is original
This is nigeria
Where that madam philomena?
Money vanish for your office
36 milli, you talk say na animal

This is nigeria
Never ending recession oh
Where looters and killers and stealers are still
Contesting election oh
Politician wey thief some billion and billion
He no dey go prison oh
Uh, police station dey close by 6- security reason oh

[baba] my brothers and siters, [e se o baba] I want you to put
Your hands up right now [e se o baba] because your miracle
Is coming this week [a wa dupe baba]
If you believe me, let me hear you say amen

[Verse 2]

Ahn, this is Nigeria, praise and worship, we’ singing out
Pastor put his hand on the breast of his member,
He’s pulling the demon out
This is Nigeria [yea]
No electricity daily oh [eh]
Young people are still working multiple jobs
And they talk say we lazy oh
This is Nigeria [eh]
There’s plenty wahala sha
Fulani herdsmen still dey slaughter
Carry people dey massacre
This is nigeria
Bombs in my area this is democracy
Political hysteria
Yahoo yahoo don tear everywhere now
And we act like it’s so cool
Casting the p and being castigated just for trying to be noble
This is Nigeria, look at my nation ooh
Sarz stop me for road, any explanation,
You go talk am for station oh

Sir, look sir, am just a student
Am a student of the university of Lagos
So my friend and I, we’, no, sir, I have my id to prove

[Chorus]

This is nigeria
Look how am living nah
Look how am living nah
Everybody be criminal
This is nigeria
Look how we’ living nah
Look what we’ eating nah
Everybody be criminal

[Verse 3]

“This is break in transmission of ehm, sansmission e
Transmission”

What happen everyday is that, the system must allowed it
For instance, there’s no law that allows you
To take money from the church, invest in business
And privatize it- no
It is only in Nigeria where you can take money from the church
Money contributed by poor congregation member [public fund]
You go and setup a university that the members cannot attend
Cannot send their children to
It’s against the rule of eh the law of god
It’s against our constitution
