When it comes to music, Africa as a continent has it in large quantity. In fact, a major selling point of Africa is its music scene.

Afrobeat, one of Africa’s many music genres is currently dominating the international music scene thanks to the foundation artists in the past laid.

For our Throwback Thursday, Mp3bullet.ng go down memory lane to dig up some songs from Africa that went viral in both the continent and outside it.

Windeck- Cabo Snoop

The early 2010s was a blissful year with many hots dominating the radios. One of them was “Windeck” by Angolan artist, Cabo Snoop.

“Windeck” is the song that captured listeners whether or not they understood the language and got them dancing once it came on the speaker.

Alhaji- Ramatoulaye Decale

This was a song that was popular thanks to the heavy use of drums and lamba.

Most of us know the deal only when this song is at least a minute in to hear the infamous repetition of “Alhaji” followed by what sounds like gongo drums.

Nevertheless, waistlines are on gogo! It’s still hilarious to to think how many people resonate with this song so much, they thought it originated from their country!

No meaningful message whatsoever but who cared when they trying to keep up with the pace of this upbeat song?

Y-Tjukutja- Uhuru ft DJ Buckz, Oskido, Professor & Yuri Da Cunha

Uhuru served fans this great music in 2014 which pushed his sound beyond the shores of South Africa.

The song won the best collaboration of the year at the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2014.

Azonto- Fuse ODG ft Tiffany

Fuse ODG put Ghana on the music map when he dropped “Azonto” featuring Ghanaian Afro-pop artist, Itz Tiffany.

The song started a movement with its funky beat and dance routine which started a huge trend in Ghana and internationally. It was released in 2013 and was one of the tracks from his new and great album named “T.I.N.A. (This Is New Africa)”.

Khona- Mafikizolo ft Uhuru

Mafikizolo is a South African Afro-pop music duo formed in 1996 consisting of composer Theo Kgosinkwe and lead singer Nhlanhla Nciza.

From 1997 to 2006, they released seven successful albums before going on a hiatus. They resumed work as a group in 2013 when they released their internationally acclaimed single “Khona” featuring Uhuru.

“Khona” was a hit in South Africa and outside it.

Dorobucci- Mavins

In the history of Nigerian pop collaborations, “Dorobucci” is one of the few songs that was a culture reset.

It was the song responsible for the breakout success of artists like Korede Bello, Reekado Banks, Di’Ja.

The song brought with it slang, and dance routine and even had people changing their names with ‘Doro’ as the prefix. 2017 was a big year thanks to this song.

King Monada – Malwedhe

South African House singer, King Monada splashes to the music scene with an impressive single titled “Malwedhe” which blew massively in Nigeria.

King Monada is warning his partner that she should not break up with him because he has a disease of collapsing. He is warning that if she doesn’t answer the phone he collapse too.

No words can explain the song, however, a few minutes of listening to Malwedhe will open your mind and take you to wonderland.

Cabo Snoop – Windeck

Windeck is a song by Angolan artist Cabo Snoop, the fifth track off his 2010 album, this song caused a lot of traffic in Nigeria.

Any party that it is not played doest exist around the time it raves in Nigeria music markets.

Mafikizolo Feat. Uhuru – Khona

“Khona” is a song by South African duo Mafikizolo it was released as the lead single from their eighth studio album, Reunited (2013).

The song features additional vocals from Uhuru and was released by Kalawa Jazmee Records.

It was very massive in Nigeria that got Nigerian artists seeking for intra collaboration from them.

Sarkodie – You go Kill me

It is certain however that ‘you go kill me’ blew up here and revealed azonto to the masses, it is a rap song that took over the street of Nigeria.

This song is one of the Ghanian song that blew massively close to VIP smash hit.

Fuse ODG – Azonto

“Azonto” is a single by British Ghanaian singer-rapper Fuse ODG, featuring vocals from Itz Tiffany.

Justice Amoah prevalently known as Patapaa(Papizo) is a Ghanaian hiphop artist. He is best known for his 2017 presentation single “One Corner”

The song has a dancing step that contributed in making it popular across africa, it blew massively in Nigeria and was rave of the moment at a point.

BigTril – Parte after parte

gandan superstar, BigTril has released his well accepted single titled “Parte After Parte“, produced by himself.

One of those moments is the growing cross-over status of ‘Party After Party’ by Big Trill, it starts making wave when african artists and celebrity starts jumping and vibing to it.
