Ghanaian singer-songwriter Efya explained why she is unable to perform on ‘big stages’ with Nigerian superstar Wizkid, in response to reports that she and R2bees frequently spend quality time with Big Wiz when he is in Ghana, but are always absent when he performs internationally.

The issue arose when Bullgod, an artist manager, expressed concern over not seeing Efya and R2bees on stage with Wizkid during his recent show at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, despite their close bond with the Nigerian musician.

Bullgod, the owner of Bullhaus Entertainment, was baffled as to why the Ghanaian performers, who frequently spend time with Wizkid when he visits Ghana, were not performing alongside him on the global stage.

The post generated debates on entertainment talk radio and television programs over why Ghanaian musicians weren’t featured.

In response to the conversation, Efya took to Twitter to clarify the complexities of musicians’ schedules and commitments.

She explained that a variety of variables, such as competing schedules, prior commitments, and logistical constraints, can make it difficult to accompany Wizkid at every international performance.

Efya noted that these difficulties do not lessen her commitment or the fact that she has already performed at multiple international stages.

Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson also known as Bullgod is an artist manager in Ghana and has stated why even Patapaa, who owns one of the biggest hits in the history of Ghanaian music, can’t describe himself as a huge artiste, passionately disputing Fantana’s claim to be the biggest Dancehall singer in Ghana.

Fantana recently caused a sensation on the Netflix series “Young, Famous and African” when she claimed that she’s the biggest dancehall musician in Ghana. Fantana was previously signed to Rufftown Records until she abruptly parted ways with the energetic record label.

While her remark caused “commotion” on the Ghanaian internet, experts from the renowned United Showbiz program on UTV looked into the situation on Saturday and offered their thoughts.

Meanwhile, Bulldgod stated that despite Patapaa having one of the most well-known songs in Ghana, he was unable to maintain the enviable reputation that came with his song “One Corner” and so cannot be referred to as a major musician.

“Patapaa had one of the biggest songs in Ghana but he never ended up being a big artiste because he didn’t continue the catalog”.

And “That’s what makes you an artiste and Fantana doesn’t have it. She is talented. She is beautiful. She has everything to be the biggest, maybe she is talking about her future. So, when she comes, she should put in the work,” he charged.

Bullgod thinks it was inappropriate for Fantana to claim to be the biggest Dancehall performer in Ghana when, in reality, her discography does not support that assertion.

Bullgod disputed her assertion, saying she lacked the musical variety required to call herself the biggest dancehall musician.

He believes that Fantana does not qualify to be listed among the best artists in Ghana since she does not possess the body of work that a big artist ought to have.

“If you weigh the matter, she is not. You need a lot of catalogs to do that…For somebody to say they are big, if Sarkodie says he is big, there are works to show, likewise, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy because there are works to show.

“Patapaa had one of the biggest songs in Ghana but he never ended up being a big artiste because he didn’t continue the catalog”.
