According to Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter, Tyson Fury has declined an offer of a 60-40 split in favor of the winner for an undisputed matchup with the Ukrainian.

IBF, WBO and WBA champion Usyk and WBC champion have been in talks for a historic fight to crown the heavyweight division’s first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis.

The bout is expected to take place on April 29 at Wembley Stadium, but Fury’s co-promoter Frank Warren said this week that no agreement has yet been reached and that they are “none the wiser” as to whether it will happen.

Warren also disclosed that if they want to move forward with that 29 April date, there is a deadline set for the end of the week.

The winner would have received a 60% split of the bout fee, according to Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk, but that offer was turned down.

‘We initially agreed for 50/50. But then Tyson was asking for some bigger money,’ Krassyuk told talkSPORT.

‘So we made it clear that we are ready to go 60/40, but the winner takes 60. That was our latest offer.

Asked if Fury turned that down, Krassyuk replied: ‘Yes, exactly.’

Despite the prolonged negotiations, Krassyuk still believes Fury wants the fight but suggested he may not be ‘ready mentally’ for it to take place in April.

‘I am experienced and I’ve been here for a while,’ Krassyuk continued.

‘Normally when a fighter does not want to take a fight, he asks for something impossible so it doesn’t take place. On the other side, I’m really optimistic.

‘Maybe Tyson is not ready yet. Maybe he’s is not ready mentally, maybe he’s not ready physically, whatever, I don’t know and we don’t really care.

‘We want to make it happen. If he doesn’t want it, we can’t make him want it. So what can I say? The fight should happen someday.’

The British heavyweight boxer, whose parents are from Nigeria, is reported to have begun a new training camp in the US as he gets ready for his rematch against American Jermaine Franklin on April 1.

Sportsmail can exclusively report that Anthony Joshua has consented to face American heavyweight Jermaine Franklin on April 1 at the O2 Arena.

Since losing to Oleksandr Usyk twice in a row in September 2021 and surrendering his WBA, WBO, and IBF titles in August 2022, Joshua has not entered the ring.

Sportsmail can confirm that Franklin, who trained with Tyson Fury prior to his fight with Dillian Whyte in November 2022, will be Joshua’s opponent.

Franklin and Joshua have reached an agreement over the fight’s finances, and they will sign the official paperwork later this afternoon.

On April 1, the two heavyweight boxers will square off at the O2 Arena in the United Kingdom.

Franklin will be aiming to avenge his loss to Whyte in November 2022, while Joshua will be looking to restore his dominance in the heavyweight division.

Joshua looked set to face Fury in December but negotiations between the two British boxers collapsed in October after the Gypsy King grew frustrated with how long AJ’s team were taking to sign the contract.

AJ was disappointed to see the deal fall through as they had made good progress – having agreed on the financial terms of the fight, splitting the purse 60/40 in the favour of the WBC champion.

Along with choosing Cardiff’s Principality Stadium as the venue, the two also agreed on the TV rights, which were rumoured to be a sticking point. It wasn’t meant to be, though.

After winning the IBF Intercontinental heavyweight title in October, the unbeaten Australian heavyweight Demsey McKean begged for about, which put AJ in the spotlight.

However, Sportsmail can confirm that Joshua has agreed to take on Franklin instead. He will face the American heavyweight at the O2 Arena on April 1.

Franklin went toe-to-toe with Dillian Whyte in November 2022. However, it was the British boxer that emerged victorious with a majority decision after their 12-round contest at Wembley Arena.

Franklin felt as though he had been ‘robbed’ – with Michael Alexander scoring their bout level at 115-115 while Juergen Landos and Grzegorz Molenda scored the fight 116-112 in favour of Whyte.

Speaking after the fight, Franklin said: ‘I felt like I got robbed. I felt like I did enough to get the decision. I felt like I won the earlier rounds. I just felt like I got robbed on the decision.’

The American was disappointed to have lost the fight considering he entered the ring with a professional record of 21 wins, 0 loses and 0 draws, having knocked out 14 of his 21 opponents.

However, Eddie Hearn – who was ringside along with Joshua – defended the judges’ decision, but admitted that he understands why others scored the bout in favour of Franklin.

Speaking after the fight, Hearn said: ‘I thought Dillian won the championship rounds to win the fight by a round, maybe two rounds. I can see a draw, and when it is 115-113 I can see it the other way as well. So I don’t blame people for thinking Franklin might’ve nicked the fight because it was a very close fight.’

But despite acknowledging that the bout could have gone either way, Hearn was adamant that Whyte’s victory did not constitute a robbery.

‘It’s not a robbery at all. It was a very close fight. I feel it was 115-113 to Whyte. I can see a draw. Can I see 115-113 to Franklin? Not really, but maybe… Anyone who says that’s a robbery is thick as s*** in all honesty.’

Franklin is eager to prove himself against Joshua and promoter Dmitriy Salita is confident he can pull off an upset.

‘Joshua, coming off two losses, changing trainers, is vulnerable,’ Salita previously said. ‘Let’s be honest. Jermaine realises it. He feels like he has his own future and path. He’s ready to go out there and score the upset. Some feel like it could be an upset, and some don’t.

‘But Jermaine’s going out there looking to score the win. After, he wants the rematch with Dillian Whyte, and then he wants to fight the winner of [Tyson] Fury vs. Usyk.’

Eddie Hearn is certain that Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder will be Anthony Joshua’s final opponent in 2023 and claims the fight may be announced “in the next week.”

Joshua has not competed since his depressing rematch loss to Oleksandr Usyk in August of last year. He left for the US last month in search of a new trainer after splitting with Robert Garcia after their last bout.

The British fighter is currently out of contention for the world title after two consecutive losses to the unbeaten Ukrainian. Hearn, though, has now unveiled a three-fight strategy that he believes can help Joshua return to the top of heavyweight boxing before the year is through.

A bout against a fighter in the top 15 is about to be confirmed for early April, and a rematch with former foe Dillian Whyte, with whom they previously fought bloodily in 2015, is anticipated to happen in the summer.

The WBC champion Fury, who will face Usyk for the undisputed title in the coming months, or Wilder, who also starts the year wanting to go back into world title contention, will then face Joshua, according to the Matchroom CEO.

‘The plan now is to rebuild him [Joshua] to become a three-time heavyweight world champion. The trainer will want to take thew appropriate steps to do that. There has to be a plan, a smart plan,’ Hearn told the DAZN Boxing Show

‘And the smart plan is he wants to return against a top 15 guy in a credible fight and return in the summer against probably Dillian Whyte and then move forward against Deontay Wilder or Tyson Fury in a mega-fight in the autumn of 2023.

‘To me, the key here is to see him box three times this year. he is in a great place mentally and I expect to see a great performance from in in April.’

Hearn added: ‘AJ is fighting a month earlier than Canelo [Alvarez] so he will be pretty much ready to go with an announcement in the next week or so.

‘We pretty much know his day, we are down to three or four opponents that we are talking to. Obviously [there are] rumours of his new training team, there will be a full announcement soon, he is in a great place and is ready to start camp soon. I believe this week that camp will begin.’

Ever since both men attained heavyweight boxing’s pinnacle in 2016, Joshua and Wilder have been destined to face off against one another.

Hearn and Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel discussed the fight in the second half of 2023 and while the ‘Bronze Bomber’ is looking at a WBC final eliminator against Andy Ruiz Jr between March and May, Hearn is confident that fight could be waiting down the line.

‘There is an open line of communication with Shelly,’ Hearn said. ‘He is going to fight Andy Ruiz Jr, we know that fight has been ordered. AJ will come back the first week of April. We are just looking for momentum here.

‘We have got a plan, this guy has got so much more to give to the heavyweight division, but this is also an important moment that we must get right. Those lines of communication are open with Deontay Wilder.

‘We know it is a huge fight, massive numbers. I truly believe Wilder or Fury are nailed on for 2023 because AJ isn’t interested in three or four-nothing fights. He will listen to his trainer but he wants to be in the biggest fights possible.’

Fury believes Anthony’s management is “extremely hard to deal with” and that his proposed fight with Joshua will never happen.

A fight between Fury and Joshua was scheduled to take place on December 3, but discussions collapsed last month after Fury openly claimed that Joshua had missed his deadline.

The WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, has announced the fight with Derek Chisora in a heavyweight clash at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 3 after Anthony Joshua’s talks fell through.

Negotiations for an all-British super fight between Anthony Joshua and WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury fell through last month.

Fury, who remains unbeaten after 33 professional fights, has beaten Chisora twice before, in 2011 and 2014.

The Gypsy King defeated Dillian Whyte in his most recent fight earlier this year, and he plans to challenge Oleksandr Usyk, the undisputed champion and WBO, WBA, and IBF champion, in 2023.

Chisora, on the other hand, has dropped three of his last four fights but just defeated Kubrat Pulev, which was a much-needed win.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren said: ‘Tyson clearly conquered America across his trilogy with Deontay Wilder, and there is also huge demand to stage his fights from sites across the world, [but] Tyson wanted to fight in his home country again this year following his special night at Wembley Stadium in April.
