The backlash began after Cubana Chief Priest shared a post on Instagram, where he offered condolences to victims of the violence in Jos but suggested the attack could have been politically motivated. He also urged security agencies to step up efforts in addressing insecurity across the country.

However, his remarks were met with widespread criticism online, with many Nigerians describing the statement as insensitive given the tragic loss of lives.

Reacting strongly, Skales dismissed the comments as “delusional,” questioning why attention was being placed on political optics instead of the human toll.

“This guy is delusional… I can’t believe he said that,” Skales wrote. “Lives were lost and all you care about is the presidency being embarrassed. Where is your conscience?”

The singer went further to call out what he sees as a lack of empathy, stressing that the focus should remain on the victims and the seriousness of the violence rather than political narratives.

Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has once again shaken the political table, sparking heated conversations online after boldly calling out the Tinubu-led administration over its handling of insecurity in the country.

The rapper, who has never been one to shy away from social issues, took to X on Wednesday to vent his frustration about the government’s response to recent abduction incidents.

In a thread filled with anger and disbelief, Falz questioned why officials consistently announce successful rescue operations yet remain silent about the fate of the criminals behind the kidnappings.

In his words:

“How can you conduct a rescue operation and you are saying absolutely nothing about the abductors?!! Who has been arrested so far?!”

Falz didn’t stop there. He escalated his criticism, making a damning allegation that immediately caught nationwide attention:

“Let it be on record that the Tinubu government is enabling terrorism. Despicable.”

His comments have since ignited a storm across social media, with supporters praising his courage and critics accusing him of going too far.

One thing is clear, though: Falz has once again forced a difficult national conversation back into the spotlight.

His comments followed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s announcement on Sunday, November 23, confirming that all victims had been rescued.

Falz had taken to social media shortly after the president’s official statement on X, which reported the safe return of 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State, and 51 Catholic school students from Niger State who were earlier declared missing.

While he acknowledged the relief that comes with the victims’ rescue, the rapper wondered why no information had been shared about the individuals behind the attacks.

To him, celebrating the rescue was important, but Nigerians also deserved clarity on whether the perpetrators had been tracked down, arrested, or neutralised.

President Tinubu, in his statement, noted that he had cancelled his planned trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to coordinate security efforts at home. He praised the security agencies for their work in the past few days and assured citizens that he remains fully involved in monitoring nationwide security developments.

My fellow Nigerians,

The president further reiterated his commitment to protecting the lives of Nigerians, declaring that he would “not relent” until the nation is secure.

Falz’s reaction has echoed the concerns of many Nigerians, who continue to question the rising wave of abductions and the lack of transparency regarding the fate of the criminal networks behind them.

At the time this report was filed, security agencies had not issued any official statement confirming arrests linked to either of the two incidents.

Falz’s demand follows a string of violent incidents, including the abduction of 25 students from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State; the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba in Borno State; and the terrorist attack on a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) branch in Kwara State.

The rapper made the statement on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), where he drew attention to a 2014 tweet by Tinubu.

At the time, Tinubu, then an opposition figure, had urged former President Goodluck Jonathan to resign for failing to tackle insecurity.

In a pointed reference to the president’s past words, Falz quoted the exact message Tinubu once directed at Jonathan:
“You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW!”

Falz’s post has sparked wide-ranging reactions online as conversations around Nigeria’s worsening insecurity continue to intensify.

You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW! https://t.co/GyYorlOHdp

— Bop Daddy (@falzthebahdguy) November 19, 2025

The tweet in question dates back to November 2014 seven months after the Chibok schoolgirls were kidnapped. In it, Tinubu wrote: “Why should any part of this country be under occupation? In any civilized country, Jonathan should resign.”

That wasn’t the first time he voiced such criticism. Earlier that year, during a speech in Ilorin, Tinubu had openly accused the Jonathan administration of dishonesty and incompetence in handling the Boko Haram crisis. He said:
“I saw the sea of displaced persons caused by the Boko Haram insurgents and the lies coming from Jonathan’s administration. They have exhibited failure, lack of capacity, vision, creativity; the lie of yesterday is what they repeat today.”

He also questioned how insurgents could seize Nigerian territory while the President remained Commander-in-Chief, insisting:
“If you control the armed forces… why should any part of this country be under occupation? In any civilized country, Jonathan should resign.”

Falz’s recent criticism lands at a time when national anger is boiling over renewed attacks. The killings and abductions in Kebbi—including the death of a vice principal—and the assault on a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) branch in Kwara State have deepened fears about growing insecurity under the current administration.

The rapper’s comments also line up with the international spotlight now falling on Nigeria’s security struggles. Just a day earlier, American rapper Nicki Minaj addressed the United Nations alongside U.S. Ambassador Michael Waltz, urging urgent action to protect Nigerian Christians from persecution.

She emphasized peace, unity, and freedom of worship, while also acknowledging former U.S. President Donald Trump for drawing attention to the crisis.

Controversial Nigerian street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has once again set tongues wagging following a blunt declaration about his stance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a video posted on his Instagram page, the self-styled Zazu Zeh crooner revealed that his political support will go to any presidential candidate willing to “drop money” for him.

According to him, whichever of President Bola Tinubu, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) makes the first financial move will not only earn his endorsement but also secure the backing of his fan base.

He said, “My fans, vote whoever you want. Before, I used to say otherwise. But for 2027, I will only vote for anyone who gives me money. Whoever drops money first between Peter Obi, Tinubu, or PDP, I will endorse. I can’t go about hungry—vote for your helper.”

Portable’s remarks come months after he recounted a disappointing encounter with Peter Obi in Benin City, Edo State, where he claimed the former Anambra governor only offered him a handshake, unlike President Tinubu, who, according to him, had been more generous.

In July, the singer also met with Seyi Tinubu, son of the president, and later showered praises on him for “changing his life,” while expressing confidence in the Tinubu administration.

The video has since sparked heated reactions online, with many Nigerians criticizing Portable for commercializing his political support, while others dismissed his statement as another publicity stunt.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has handsomely rewarded the Super Falcons of Nigeria following their triumphant outing at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The victorious team, which clinched a record-extending 10th WAFCON title, was hosted by the president at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday, July 28, 2025. During the reception, President Tinubu praised the players and technical crew for their resilience and skill and for “inscribing Nigeria’s name boldly on the sands of African football history.”

In recognition of their achievement, the president conferred the National Honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on each of the 24 players.

He also gifted them three-bedroom apartments and a generous $100,000 cash reward each. Members of the technical crew were not left out, receiving $50,000 each for their contribution to the historic win.

This presidential gesture comes in addition to the $1 million prize money the team received from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for winning the tournament.

The 2024 WAFCON final was one for the ages. The Super Falcons, facing a spirited Moroccan side backed by a home crowd, found themselves trailing 2–0 at halftime, thanks to goals from Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaâ Mssoudy.

However, Nigeria staged a stunning comeback. Esther Okoronkwo pulled one back from the penalty spot before Folashade Ijamilusi levelled the score in the 71st minute.

The decisive moment came in the dying minutes when substitute Jennifer Echegini netted the winner in the 88th minute sealing a 3–2 victory and sparking wild celebrations across Nigeria.

This landmark triumph reaffirms Nigeria’s dominance in women’s football on the continent and marks one of the most dramatic comebacks in WAFCON final history.

Controversial Nigerian street-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has once again ignited debate on social media following remarks made about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a new video posted to his Instagram page, the Zazoo Zeh crooner praised President Tinubu’s leadership, describing his administration as the best Nigeria has ever had.

He stated, “Since I was born, they’ve always said ‘Nigeria will get better.’ It’s during Tinubu’s tenure that Nigeria truly improved. He’s the best president so far.”

This comes just days after Portable released a strongly worded video condemning former President Buhari and holding him responsible for the 2020 Lekki Toll Gate shooting during the #EndSARS protests. Contradicting common narratives that implicate political figures from Lagos, Portable insisted that Buhari gave the order, not Tinubu.

However, the artist’s follow-up comments attacking critics of President Tinubu, in which he reportedly used harsh language and even wished death upon detractors, have sparked widespread outrage.

Many Nigerians online have called his statements reckless, insensitive, and divisive, especially given the delicate nature of the issues discussed.

While Portable is known for his outspoken and often controversial persona, his recent string of political commentary has raised questions about the responsibility of public figures in shaping discourse around national leadership and historical events.

Nigerian rapper, lawyer, and outspoken social critic Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has openly associated the name of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with the ongoing hardship in the country.

During a recent interview with Soundcity, the Soft Work crooner was asked what immediately comes to mind when he hears the president’s name. Falz responded bluntly:

“Hardship. No elaboration.”

The rapper’s curt reply underscores his deep dissatisfaction with the current state of the nation under Tinubu’s leadership. Known for his bold activism, Falz has been one of the most consistent voices calling out bad governance and insecurity in Nigeria.

Just last month, Falz criticized President Tinubu over his perceived inaction in the wake of a brutal attack that left over 200 people dead in Benue State.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on June 16, 2025, the rapper slammed the president’s response as ineffective and detached from the reality on the ground.

“You have consistently shown that you are incapable of performing the primary duty of securing the lives and property of your citizens. This routine statement does not cut it,” Falz posted in reaction to Tinubu’s delayed response.

Following public outcry, President Tinubu eventually issued a statement addressing the massacre. In it, he condemned the violence and instructed security agencies to take decisive action.

“Enough is enough. I have been briefed on the senseless bloodletting in Benue State… I have directed the security agencies to act decisively, arrest perpetrators of these evil acts on all sides of the conflict, and prosecute them,” Tinubu said.

He also called on political and community leaders to tone down inflammatory rhetoric and urged Governor Hyacinth Alia to lead efforts toward reconciliation and peace in the state.

Despite the president’s assurances, many Nigerians, including Falz, remain critical of the administration’s handling of widespread insecurity and economic hardship, which continue to plague the country.

Falz’s latest comments further reflect the growing frustration among citizens who feel disillusioned with leadership and the current state of affairs in Nigeria.

In a searing post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, June 16, 2025, Falz expressed outrage at what he described as the administration’s repeated failure to uphold its fundamental duty of securing lives and property.

“You have consistently shown that you are incapable of performing the primary duty of securing the lives and property of your citizens,” the rapper wrote. “This routine statement does not cut it.”

Falz’s statement comes amid national grief and widespread condemnation following the massacre in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area of Benue, allegedly carried out by suspected herdsmen.

The victims, many of them displaced persons, were ambushed and slaughtered in one of the most horrifying attacks in recent years.

President Tinubu, whose silence in the immediate aftermath of the killings drew sharp criticism from citizens and public figures alike, eventually issued a statement declaring:

“Enough is enough! I have directed the security agencies to act decisively, arrest perpetrators of these evil acts on all sides of the conflict, and prosecute them.”

He also urged political and traditional leaders in Benue to desist from inflammatory remarks and tasked Governor Hyacinth Alia with leading reconciliation and peace efforts in the troubled state.

“Our people must live in peace, and it is possible when leaders across divides work together in harmony,” Tinubu added, calling for justice, fairness, and openness.

However, for many Nigerians, including prominent voices in music, civil society, and religious communities, the president’s words came too late. Critics argue that the federal government’s slow reaction reflects a deeper pattern of complacency and disconnect in the face of chronic violence across Nigeria’s Middle Belt and northern regions.

I have been briefed on the senseless bloodletting in Benue State.

Falz’s rebuke adds to a growing wave of public dissent, echoing earlier sentiments expressed by fellow entertainer 2Baba, who described the killings as a national emergency and pleaded for unity and decisive action.

Even Pope Leo XIV weighed in before President Tinubu, condemning the attack as a “horrifying slaughter” and urging international attention to the escalating crisis.

As public frustration deepens, calls for accountability, reform, and a renewed focus on national security continue to mount — and voices like Falz’s are increasingly impossible to ignore.

Nigerian rapper, activist, and actor Falz has once again stepped into the sociopolitical spotlight, voicing serious concerns about the country’s direction under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a candid interview with Arise 360, the outspoken entertainer expressed deep disappointment with the state of governance and national development since Tinubu assumed office two years ago.

“I made the statement about not being sure I’d raise my kids in Nigeria because of the current state of affairs,” Falz explained. “More than anything, it goes without saying that we’ve moved backwards. There is much progress that has been recorded.”

While acknowledging the lingering hope that improvements may come in the second half of Tinubu’s administration, the rapper didn’t hold back in his critique of the leadership so far.

“I remember the campaign slogan being ‘Emi lo kan’ — ‘It’s my turn.’ And now it’s like, ‘What was he planning on doing?’ Well, it remains two more years, maybe there is still a plan. But as it is, this first half… we never see am. We never see anything.”

"There's not much progress that has been recorded… First half, we never see anything"

Falz’s remarks come as President Tinubu marks two years in office — a milestone met with mixed reactions nationwide. For many, especially the youth, issues such as rising inflation, unemployment, insecurity, and poor infrastructure continue to cast a long shadow over promises of reform and economic revitalization.

Afrobeats icon David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, made headlines on Tuesday evening after accompanying his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, and his father, billionaire businessman Chief Adedeji Adeleke, on a high-level courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos.

The private meeting, held at the President’s Ikoyi residence, was revealed to the public by Dada Olusegun, the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, who shared official photos and details on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu receives in audience, H.E. Ademola Adeleke, the Executive Governor of Osun State, and Chief Adedeji Adeleke at his residence in Lagos,” Olusegun posted.

While the contents of the closed-door session remain undisclosed, sources close to the meeting described it as “cordial and constructive,” highlighting President Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to bridge Nigeria’s deepening political divides.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu receives in Audience, H.E Ademola Adeleke, the Executive Governor of Osun State and Chief Adedeji Adeleke and his son and Afro beat star @davido at his residence in Lagos pic.twitter.com/yxHm0Wk5lO

However, it was Davido’s presence that dominated headlines and online conversations. The global music star, known for his influence that spans beyond entertainment into socio-political discourse, rarely makes public appearances at political functions—making this moment particularly striking.

Social media lit up with commentary, with many interpreting the image of three generations of the Adeleke dynasty sitting with President Tinubu as a symbolic gesture of unity, strategic dialogue, and generational collaboration.

The timing of the visit also adds intrigue. Osun State has recently experienced major political shifts, with several lawmakers defecting from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Just weeks earlier, all three PDP-elected senators from the state declared support for Tinubu’s administration, signaling possible realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

While the visit has not been officially linked to these political developments, the optics of Davido, his father, and his uncle together in Tinubu’s inner circle are being viewed by many as a significant moment in Nigeria’s evolving political narrative—where influence, legacy, and youth power intersect.

Veteran Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has scored a significant victory in the face of controversy, as his politically charged single “Tell Your Papa” continues to soar in popularity despite a broadcast ban imposed by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

The protest track, which sharply criticizes the administration of President Bola Tinubu, was officially barred from radio and TV airplay on April 10, 2025, for allegedly breaching the Nigerian broadcasting code.

But rather than fading away, the song has gained even more traction, proving once again that censorship often amplifies the message it aims to suppress.

Since the ban, “Tell Your Papa” has seen a dramatic spike in digital engagement:

YouTube views have jumped from 22,754 to over 89,000, with likes rising from 1,200 to 2,800+

On Spotify, the song has crossed 30,000 streams, showing a clear wave of interest from the public

In a statement on Instagram, Eedris reflected on the backlash, comparing the situation to the 2004 ban of his iconic protest song “Jaga Jaga”.

“It’s obvious that in Nigeria, truth and constructive criticism is always deemed a big crime by the government,” he wrote.

The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) responded swiftly, predicting that the NBC’s move would only increase the song’s reach and impact. Their statement pointed to a long history of censorship backfiring in the music industry — turning protest tracks into viral hits.

Adding weight to the resistance, Nobel laureate Professor Wole Soyinka issued a scathing critique of the NBC’s decision. Speaking from New York University, Abu Dhabi, Soyinka denounced the ban as a “dangerous descent into censorship” and an affront to freedom of expression.

In his characteristically ironic tone, Soyinka stated:

“It is not only the allegedly offensive record that should be banned – the musician himself should be proscribed. Next, PMAN, or whatever musical association of which Abdulkareem is a member, should also go under the hammer.”

He emphasized that the issue at hand isn’t just about one song, but about democratic values under threat:

“The ban is a boost to the artist’s nest egg, thanks to free governmental promotion. Mr. Abdulkareem must be currently warbling his merry way all the way to the bank. I envy him.”

Soyinka even admitted he hadn’t listened to the track — yet strongly defended Abdulkareem’s right to express dissent, warning regulators to reverse what he described as “petulant irrationality.”

As “Tell Your Papa” gains momentum, it joins the ranks of Nigerian protest anthems that refuse to be silenced — songs that have historically spoken truth to power and given voice to the frustrations of the people. Whether or not one agrees with Eedris Abdulkareem’s message, his latest release is reigniting crucial conversations about governance, censorship, and artistic freedom in Nigeria.
