Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Bloody Civilian has revealed that marriage is currently far from her mind, explaining that her journey as an artist has significantly shaped how she views life and traditional expectations.

The 26-year-old musician, whose real name is Emoseh Khamofu, shared her thoughts during a recent appearance on the Not Just Ok podcast, where she spoke candidly about the pressure she receives from family members regarding marriage.

According to the singer, one of the biggest challenges her relatives face is understanding how her career and creative lifestyle have influenced her outlook on issues that are often considered important milestones, particularly for women from Northern Nigeria.

Bloody Civilian noted that while her family frequently raises the subject of marriage, it is not something she is actively pursuing or thinking about at this stage of her life.

She said:

“One thing my family still does not understand about being an artiste is the fact that certain conventional things that they expect of a woman from the North are just simply not things that I am excited to do. For instance, marriage is not something that I am thinking of at all. But that question keeps being brought up.”

The singer’s comments have sparked conversations online, with many fans praising her honesty and her willingness to challenge societal expectations surrounding relationships and marriage.

Known for her unconventional artistry and outspoken personality, Bloody Civilian has consistently carved out her own path within Nigeria’s music scene. Her latest remarks offer further insight into the personal beliefs and experiences that continue to shape both her life and creative journey.

As conversations around marriage, career ambitions, and personal choice continue to evolve, her perspective reflects a growing number of young professionals and creatives who are choosing to define success on their own terms rather than through traditional societal timelines.

Brymo Calls for New Era in Afrobeats, Says ‘Big 3’ Narrative Should End

Speaking during an interview with TVC, the outspoken musician questioned the continued dominance of the “Big 3” conversation in Nigerian music, arguing that the industry’s focus should shift towards younger acts who are currently shaping the sound and direction of contemporary Afrobeats.

According to Brymo, the long-running narrative surrounding established stars such as Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy has kept them at the centre of industry discussions, potentially limiting recognition for emerging talents.

The singer singled out Rema as the artist he believes should currently be regarded as Nigeria’s leading pop star, citing the younger generation’s growing influence on both local and international audiences.

He said:

“We need to stop talking about how the new artists don’t have lyrical substance and focus on how some artists want to lock down the industry for themselves with the ‘Big 3’ narrative and continue reigning forever. They should shift aside. Right now, Rema should be the biggest pop star in the country without any doubt. All this talk about Wizkid, 2Face, Olamide, Burna Boy. Why? In the Pop scene?? Wetin dem dey sing? You can plug the radio but nobody likes your stuff anymore. Move aside, evolve.”

“They should shift aside, It’s a pop scene, they should evolve, leave the mainstream alone for young people.”

“Rema should be the biggest pop star in the country without any doubt”

— Brymo on the Big 3/Big 4 👀 pic.twitter.com/Pz8rNDoCHU

Brymo’s remarks have since generated mixed reactions across social media, with some fans agreeing that newer artists deserve greater recognition, while others defended the contributions and continued relevance of Afrobeats veterans.

The debate around the “Big 3” has remained one of the most discussed topics in Nigerian music over the years, often centring on the achievements and influence of Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.

However, the rapid rise of artists such as Rema, Ayra Starr, Asake, and others has increasingly fuelled conversations about a changing of the guard within the industry.

Speaking during an appearance on the Bryce Crawford podcast, the award-winning rapper addressed long-standing assumptions about her relationship with religion and clarified why she no longer participates in church services as frequently as she once did.

According to Nicki Minaj, her absence from church was not caused by fame itself, as many people have speculated over the years. Instead, she explained that the nature of her work made it increasingly difficult to maintain a traditional church routine.

The rapper noted that as her music career began to take off, most of her performances and professional commitments occurred on weekends, leaving little time for Sunday morning worship.

She said:

“Once my career started taking off, I stopped going to church. I was working on Friday nights and Saturday nights, so the last thing I could do was wake up on Sunday mornings to go to church.”

Despite no longer attending services regularly, Minaj stressed that her faith remains intact and that she continues to maintain a personal relationship with God.

Nicki Minaj says her faith and the church helped carry her through life, adding that she doesn’t think she would’ve made it without them. pic.twitter.com/rJDTONK58A

Her comments have since sparked discussions among fans, many of whom appreciated her honesty about balancing faith with the realities of a demanding entertainment career.

Over the years, Nicki Minaj has occasionally spoken about spirituality and the role faith has played in her life, even as her career evolved into one of the most successful in modern hip-hop. Her latest remarks offer a glimpse into how she has navigated that relationship while managing the pressures and commitments that come with global stardom.

Nigerian singer and songwriter Brymo has shared his views on Nigeria’s political future, calling for greater consideration of an Igbo presidency while also addressing the country’s ongoing security challenges.

Speaking during an interview with Yanga FM Lagos, the outspoken musician argued that it may be time for Nigeria to embrace leadership from the South-East as part of efforts to strengthen national unity and heal longstanding divisions.

According to Brymo, meaningful reconciliation among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups requires a willingness to move beyond historical grievances and create opportunities for broader political inclusion.

During the conversation, he expressed concern over rising insecurity in different parts of the country, claiming that some groups have historically used violence and unrest as leverage in political negotiations.

He said:

“I think it is high time for Igbo presidency. It is time for Nigeria to start considering Igbo presidency. Let’s let go of the past and reconcile our differences and unit as a nation. But how will we get there if the South-east is also slowly descending into chaos? Anytime any group in Nigeria wants presidency, they will start militancy. That is what is going on. If you want presidency, start kidnapping and insecurity. One of the reasons I like President Bola Tinubu is because he stopped Amotekun from taking off. He didn’t support it. Imagine if Yorubas have Amotekun active, South-eastern insecurity active, Boko Haram active, and South-south militants active, do we still have a country?”

Brymo’s comments have since sparked discussions online, particularly his position on an Igbo presidency and his assessment of how insecurity intersects with political ambitions in different regions of the country.

The singer, known for frequently sharing his opinions on national issues, has often used interviews and social media platforms to contribute to conversations surrounding governance, identity, and the future of Nigeria.

His latest remarks add to the ongoing national debate about political inclusion, security, and the type of leadership many Nigerians hope to see emerge in the years ahead.

Nigeria’s premier music award platform, the Headies Awards, has officially announced that its 18th edition will take place in Toronto, Canada, marking a historic move for the long-running celebration of Nigerian music excellence.

The announcement was made on June 15, 2026, during a formal event held at the Grand Ballroom of Eko Hotel in Lagos, where organisers unveiled plans for the ceremony in collaboration with international partners, including representatives linked to the Academy Awards and the Canadian Embassy.

Founder and CEO of Smooth Promotions and Hip TV, Ayo Animashaun, confirmed that the upcoming edition will be staged in Toronto, describing the decision as a strategic step to deepen the global reach of the awards.

According to Animashaun, the move was influenced by the strong presence of Nigerians in Canada and the growing influence of Afrobeats and Nigerian pop culture across international markets.

He noted that the 2026 cycle also coincides with a major milestone for the brand: its 20th anniversary, having first launched in 2006 in Lagos as the Hip Hop World Awards before evolving into The Headies.

Animashaun described the anniversary as a testament to the award platform’s “resilience, consistency, and commitment to celebrating excellence in Nigerian music,” despite industry and structural challenges over the years.

The Canadian Embassy also welcomed the collaboration, with Canada’s Deputy High Commissioner, Carlos Rojas-Arbulu, describing the partnership as a reflection of the rapid global growth of Nigerian music and its cultural influence.

He emphasised that Canada’s large Nigerian diaspora community played a key role in the decision, noting that hosting the event in Toronto would help further connect Nigerian creatives with a broader international audience.

To support attendance and logistics for the overseas ceremony, organisers also announced a partnership with travel company Wakanow. The company’s CEO, Adebayo Adedeji, stated that the initiative would assist attendees with travel arrangements, accommodation, airport transfers, and curated experiences in Toronto.

With this landmark move, the Headies Awards continues its evolution from a local Nigerian ceremony into a globally recognised platform, reflecting the expanding footprint of Afrobeats and the internationalisation of Nigerian music culture.

The controversy began after the rapper responded to social media users who criticised his earlier statement about the commercial contributions of Igbos to Lagos’s development, alongside those of other ethnic groups.

His response, however, sparked outrage after he reacted angrily to derogatory remarks directed at the Igbo community, including calls for them to leave Lagos.

In the heat of the exchange, iLLBliss fired back with a statement that many online users described as inflammatory, saying: “We bought all your land and will resell to you.”

Following the backlash, the rapper has now expressed regret over his choice of words, admitting that his reaction was excessive and not reflective of his intentions.

He noted that such exchanges often become emotionally charged, leading to misunderstandings and escalated responses.

The presidential candidate Peter Obi has commended Nigerian music star Davido for using his global platform to draw attention to the country’s security challenges during the 2026 FIFA World Cup countdown concert.

Davido’s performance at the internationally televised event generated widespread conversation after the singer appeared on stage wearing an outfit bearing the names of schoolchildren reportedly still being held in captivity. The gesture quickly resonated with many Nigerians, sparking discussions about the role of celebrities in raising awareness on national issues.

Reacting via his X account, Obi described the singer’s actions as a powerful demonstration of patriotism, noting that the Afrobeats superstar chose to use a major international stage to amplify concerns about insecurity rather than focusing solely on entertainment.

According to the former Anambra State governor, Davido’s appearance carried a message that extended beyond music and performance, helping to keep attention on the plight of victims and their families.

In his statement, Obi wrote:

“Davido’s impactful gesture in drawing global attention to Nigeria’s security challenges warrants commendation. He prominently displayed the names of schoolchildren who had been held captive for an extended period, advocating for their safe return. By utilising his international platform, Davido effectively highlighted Nigeria’s security crisis, transcending mere entertainment.”

The comments have since attracted reactions online, with many Nigerians applauding the singer for using one of football’s biggest global events to highlight an issue affecting communities across the country.

Davido, who was among the headline performers at the FIFA World Cup countdown concert, continues to be one of Africa’s most influential music exports. His appearance at the event further reinforced his global reach while demonstrating how entertainment can be used to bring attention to pressing social concerns.

For many observers, the moment served as a reminder that artists can leverage their visibility not only to entertain audiences but also to amplify conversations on issues that matter beyond the stage.

The Commendable Act of Nigerian Artists at the World Cup

Nigeria’s absence from the World Cup, as I previously stated, stems not from a lack of talent but from a conspicuous deficiency in political leadership that has failed to create an enabling environment for talent…

DJ Cuppy Opens Up on Why She May Never Marry a Nigerian

The daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola made the revelation during a recent podcast appearance, where she spoke candidly about her dating experiences and the challenges she has faced in her search for a genuine romantic connection.

According to Cuppy, one of her past relationships raised concerns about intention, as she felt her former partner appeared more focused on meeting her father than truly getting to know her as an individual. She explained that moments like these made her question the authenticity of some of the people who approach her romantically.

She added that her family background and public profile often overshadow her personal identity in relationships, making it difficult to determine whether she is being valued for who she truly is.

Her comments quickly gained traction online, sparking heated discussions across social media, with users divided on whether her experiences reflect the realities of dating as a public figure or general relationship dynamics involving wealth and fame.

During the conversation, she said:

“I can never marry a Nigerian. It’s impossible. The last one I dated was asking me when he could meet my dad. I didn’t even think they liked me. My dad doesn’t even care who I marry; he just wants me to get married. That’s why I’m so happy for Temi and Eazi”.

She also referenced the relationship between her sister Temi Otedola and singer Mr Eazi, expressing admiration for their bond.

The discussion has continued to trend online, with many weighing in on the pressures faced by high-profile individuals in relationships, particularly when wealth, fame, and family influence intersect with personal love life decisions.

As conversations continue, DJ Cuppy’s remarks have once again highlighted the complexities of modern dating in the public eye and the challenges of separating personal identity from public perception.

The singer, who recently disclosed that she and Michael had been married privately for 13 years, took to her Instagram Story to express the overwhelming pain she has been experiencing since his passing.

In a heartfelt post, Niniola revealed that she is still struggling to come to terms with the loss of the man she described as the most important person in her life.

“I cannot live without Michael. God, You could’ve taken my kidney, an arm or a leg. You should’ve even taken me instead. But that one person that made my life worth it, You took away from me,” she wrote.

The emotional tribute continued as the grieving singer questioned why her husband had been taken from her, insisting that they had lived a quiet life and caused no harm to anyone.

Expressing her anguish and frustration, Niniola suggested that she finds it difficult to understand why Michael’s life could not have been spared.

“We did not disturb anybody o… Just living lives on our own terms. What a jealous God You truly are… Cos You had the power to spare him but decided to flex muscles. Kukuma finish what You started na… I’m ready,” she added.

Since sharing the message, the singer has received an outpouring of support from fans, colleagues, and well-wishers, many of whom have flooded her social media pages with prayers and words of encouragement.

Niniola’s latest post comes just weeks after she publicly reflected on the profound void left by her husband’s death. Each tribute she has shared has offered a glimpse into the deep connection they built over more than a decade together.

As she continues to navigate one of the most difficult periods of her life, the singer’s candid expressions of grief have resonated with many who have experienced the pain of losing a loved one, highlighting the enduring impact of love, companionship, and loss.

Falz Reacts to Counter-Protesters at Anti-Insecurity Demonstration in Lagos

The protest, held in Lagos, was aimed at drawing attention to the country’s worsening security situation and the continued captivity of kidnapped victims, including schoolchildren and teachers.

However, Falz said he was stunned to see individuals opposing a movement focused on advocating for the safety of Nigerians.

Speaking after the demonstration, the rapper questioned why anyone would resist calls for urgent action on an issue that affects citizens across political, ethnic, and religious lines.

He stressed that insecurity should not be viewed through a partisan lens but as a national emergency requiring collective concern.

Falz expressed particular concern over victims of recent abductions, noting that some kidnapped schoolchildren and residents remain unaccounted for months after being taken.

According to him:

“We stepped out yesterday to protest wors£ning levels of ins£curity and mass @bductions around the country. What was wild to see was that Tinubu and his supporters had rented a crowd of counter protesters the majority of which were women. These women have children. Incase you don’t know why we are out there protesting. The children that were taken from schools in Oyo state, they still have not been found.”

The rapper went on to reference reports of violent attacks in parts of the country, highlighting the human cost of the ongoing security crisis and the need for sustained public attention.

He continued:

“Let me put this in perspective for you. There is a community called Woro in Kwara state. February 3rd into 4th this year, this same year o, by 5:30 pm, !nsurgents att@cked this community, now from 5:30 pm overnight into the next morning, there was a sustained att@ck where they m@$$acr£d people. About 200 people were k!||£d. And do you know how many people were taken away? About a 176 people were taken away. These people are still in c@pt!vity.”

Urging Nigerians to recognise the seriousness of the situation, Falz warned that no community is immune to the threat posed by insecurity if decisive action is not taken.

He added:

“It could be your ch!ldren tomorrow. It could eventually be your ch!ldren, just incase you don’t know what you are doing. This is the £nd of us if we allow this to continue….”

The artist has long been one of Nigeria’s most vocal public figures on social and political issues, frequently using his platform to advocate for accountability, justice, and civic engagement. His latest comments have reignited conversations online about the country’s security challenges and the role citizens can play in demanding solutions.

Nigerian singer and performer Mr. P has opened up about the creative process behind his trending single, I Can’t Look Away, revealing that he deliberately revisited the formula that helped make P-Square one of Africa’s most successful music groups.

The singer shared the insight during a radio interview with veteran broadcaster Steve Onu, popularly known as Yaw, where he discussed the inspiration behind the song’s growing success and the steps he took to reconnect with a sound that resonates with longtime fans.

According to Mr. P, one of the key decisions was reassembling members of the creative team that played important roles during the P-Square era. He explained that bringing familiar collaborators back into the fold helped recreate the chemistry that produced many of the group’s biggest records.

Speaking on the move, he said:

“I had to bring back everybody that worked with us as P’Square, like Foster Zeeno, who was the brains behind many of our hits as P’Square.”

Mr. P noted that the goal was to create a high-quality record capable of connecting with audiences across different demographics while maintaining the essence of the sound that fans grew to love over the years.

The singer also disclosed that he recently secured a major five-year partnership with an international company, a deal that reportedly includes the release of three albums. With significant investment already committed to the project, he acknowledged the responsibility of delivering music that meets expectations.

“These people have invested so much in me, so I need to deliver,” he added.

Since its release, I Can’t Look Away has steadily gained momentum, earning praise from listeners who believe the song captures elements of the signature style that helped define P-Square’s dominance across Africa and beyond.

The record has also attracted attention from fellow music stars, including Davido, who publicly endorsed the track on X, describing it as a “fire banger.”

As the song continues to enjoy strong reception, many fans see it as a reminder of Mr P’s enduring ability to create catchy, relatable music while drawing from the rich musical legacy that helped establish P-Square as one of the continent’s most influential acts.
