Napoli coach Antonio Conte has shared his frustration over the club’s failure to retain its top players, Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, during his short tenure.

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that they have reached a mutual decision to part company with head coach Antonio Conte.

After an emotional news conference following their 3-3 draw with Southampton, in which he lashed out at his players and said ownership of the club’s trophy record might be questioned, the Italian was expected to depart his role in the first week of the international break.

Tottenham waited until late on Sunday night to announce his departure, revealing in a statement: “We can announce that Head Coach Antonio Conte has left the Club by mutual agreement. We achieved Champions League qualification in Antonio’s first season at the Club. We thank Antonio for his contribution and wish him well for the future.

“Cristian Stellini will take the team as Acting Head Coach for the remainder of the season, along with Ryan Mason as Assistant Head Coach.”

Conte joined Tottenham in November 2021 as a successor to Nuno Espirito Santo, five months after spurning Spurs’ initial advances following his sudden departure from Inter.

Contrary to all expectations, Conte led Tottenham to a fourth-place finish in his debut season, passing rivals Arsenal in the memorable and dramatic last two weeks of the 2021–2022 season.

But Spurs have failed to kick on this season and ironically find themselves in a similar position to this time last year. They were knocked out of the FA Cup embarrassingly by lower league opposition while they put up little fight against AC Milan on their way out of the UEFA Champions League at the last 16 stage.
