Adewale Adeleke, Davido’s brother, has reacted to the ongoing fight of Amapiano lords between DJ Maphorisa and Davido, supporting his brother’s allegations of not being appreciated.

Adewale Adeleke, the chairman of the HKN Record Label, claimed in a tweet that Davido is treated disrespectfully by other musicians despite having assisted them.

The HKN boss said;

“My brother put on a countless number of artists & producers only for “some” of them to disrespect him! There’s a reason why he’s still here and y’all fell off….”

This response was immediately cosigned by Davido, who retweeted it following his response to DJ Maphorisa’s post, in which the South African music producer corrected a fan’s assertion by saying Wizkid and Burna Boy were the Nigerian musicians who imported Amapiano to Nigeria, not Davido.

In response, Davido stated that the South African DJ never liked him while quoting lines from his song with Ke Star with Focalistic.

Adewale then responded by quoting his brother’s tweet by stating that people are hating on the singer.

“Nigga was always fake…,” he wrote.

Davido’s older brother, Adewale Adeleke, and he co-founded HKN Music, which served as the foundation for Davido’s breakthrough in the music industry before he went on to start his own record label, DMW.

David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, responded to DJ Maphorisa of South Africa over the ongoing argument over who made Amapiano big in Nigeria.

It all started when a  Twitter user who claimed to be a fan of Davido wrote that the singer brought amapiano to Nigeria and popularised the genre after appearing on Focalistic’s remix of “Ke Star.”

According to the tweet, Wizkid’s most recent track, “Bad For Me,” was an anxious attempt to become a success following Davido’s alleged importation of the South African genre.

The message received a lot of responses as Twitter users, particularly Wizkid supporters, engaged in various history lessons in an effort to correct the record.

As the debate over Nigerian artists’ first encounters with Amapiano raged on, South African Disc Jockey/Music producer, DJ Maphorisa took it upon himself to set the record straight.

He tweeted;

“Kabza & Maphorisa was the first to put Wizkid n Burnaboy on an amapiano song Sponono dat was a historical moment 3 years ago, research before tweet also it was the first time Wiz n Burna jumped on a same song together let it sink in,” Maphorisa tweeted along with an emoji of an eagle commonly used by Wizkid.

Davido challenged DJ Maphorisa by quoting the tweet the same day, saying the record producer never liked him, and he demanded to know why.

He continued to make fun of the DJ by pointing out that his song with his South African counterpart, Focalistic, which has two massive amapiano singles with Davido, has been a success.

“You’ve never liked me y? I’ve always been good to you …. Anyways! AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY NOW!!!!!! Chu chu chu chu chu” Davido tweeted in a post that has predictably been met with different reactions.

This is a list of some of the popular Nigerian record label owners that are not musicians.

Mp3bullet is out with a list of the popular Nigerian record label owners that are not musicians.

There has been a wide array of beliefs that most record label owners are either singers or producers. This is not true, as there are some people who are strictly entrepreneurs and take this music thing as a core business.

Some of these people don’t even have an idea of what it takes to mix and master a song, nor tactically vocalize a beat, however, they are skilled in making profits off this music business.

Kennis Music – Kenny Ogungbe

This popular record was founded by Kehinde Ogungbe alongside his friend, Dayo D1 Adeneye in the 1990s. Kehinde is a DJ, music producer, and music executive.

He’s collaborated with, impacted the careers of, and discovered artists such as The Remedies (launching the solo careers of both Eedris Abdulkareem and Tony Tetuila), Sound Sultan (late), 2Baba (producing his first two solo albums), and Oritse Femi, to name a few.

Chocolate City – Audu Maikori, Yahaya Maikori

Chocolate City is another Nigerian musical label created in 2005 by Audu Maikori, Paul Okeugo, and Yahaya Maikori, all of whom are lawyers. It is considered one of Africa’s largest and most successful indigenous urban record labels.

M.I Abaga, Nosa, Dice Ailes, Blaqbonez, ClassiQ, CKay, Candy Bleakz, Torna, and many more have all released music on the label.

The insult he is referring to is from a shade Wizkid had thrown at Davido on Twitter in 2017 when he called him frog voice. The post later went viral and the name stuck with Davido’s haters as they continued to call him frog voice.

Wizkid had tweeted:

“My people make una remember say Yankee passport no be baba blue, e no dey cure frog voice. Frog face”

Samklef reacting to Cynthia Morgan and Jude Okoye saga said it was the duty of a Record label to make money for the artistes signed under them.

He gave his reason for his stance is because the artist need to be in the right frame of mind to be creative but instead, record labels act like they are doing the artist a favor.

Adewale replied to him that he disagrees saying that Record Label makes money for themselves and not for the artist. Adding that a record label is a business that needs to make a profit to grow.

I would have to disagree. The job of a record label is to make money for label not the artist. The purpose of any business is to make a profit not create a profit for anyone else. https://t.co/u5Qp11G5Nl

After Cynthia Morgan accused Jude Okoye of ruining her career when she was still in his label, Northside Records, a lot of people blamed Label Records for their tough rules and the stringent contracts they make artistes sign.

However, Davido‘s brother, Adewale Adeleke who owns a Record Label, HKN, has taken to Twitter to defend Record labels.

He wrote,

“Fans are so quick to blame labels or managers for ruining artist careers but when the artist makes it, it’s by their own doing…..doesn’t add up! Think about it when artists are successful nobody credits the label, or Managers for money or time spent pushing the artist it’s the artist, But let an artist be relevant & go down its the label.

The label is greedy the label took all my royalties they left me for dead.I’m not saying some labels can take artists for a ride and give out horrible contracts. Everyone should remember these artists signed contracts willingly, but some times its the artist themselves that bring their own downfall, no one else!”
