Nigeria singer, CKay has unveiled the name of his forthcoming debut album as “Sad Romance” which he states will be dropping this year.

The singer who has been hinting about the project in various interviews dropped a video showing different editing of him performing in various shows.

Talking in the background, Ckay recounted his journey from running from home to topping charts all over the world.

He thanked fans for their support and love, stating that they were the reason for his success.

In the video he said;

Its actually crazy how gig small beginnings can become. You know, running away from home, not knowing if things would work out, to being on charts all over the world, it’s like the biggest platitudes of my life and this all because of you guys. Am so so grateful for the love and support of my fans and supporters worldwide. That’s literally what brought me here.

Speaking on the album titled “Sad Romance“, the singer stated that the project was inspired by emotions like sadness, depression and many more. Although he didn’t disclose the features, he stated that talented people worked on it with him.

“My first album, Sad romance is dropping really soon. I’m so excited, happiness, pain, depression, and all kinds of emotions inspired this album and so many talented people worked with me to create it. I’m excited for you guys to listen to it and even more excited to not listen to it alone anymore.”

In 2017, he released his debut EP, Who the Fuck is CKay?, which was followed by his breakout track, “Container,” which was heavily played on Nigerian radio.

The song “Love Nwantiti” from his 2019 EP CKay the First led to additional success.

His third EP, Boyfriend, was released in 2021 by Warner Music South Africa. It was preceded by the singles “Felony” and “Skoin Skoin” with vocalist Bianca Costa.

After “Love Nwantiti” went viral in 2021 thanks to Tik-Tok, he released “Emiliania”, “By Your Side” and then the Amapaino-infused hit track, “Watawi” featuring Abidoza, Focalistic and Davido.
